I was actually pretty surprised how good the garlic chicken and kalua pig is. You get a pretty big portion for only $ 8. The chicken had the perfect crisp and flavor to it, I actually preferred their garlic chicken to Honolulu Kitchen’s down the road. Cash only, so hit up an atm before you arrive. If you’re lucky the Bubble Teas Hawai’i truck will be nearby too! They’re always at Waipahu Park :)

I love their fried chicken! I usually go to their lunch wagon that’s parked in front of the Waipahu gym. Only thing is the rice is always either mushy or hard. Sometimes it tastes as if it’s a day old. I’ll still come here but maybe just not get rice and cook my own at home.

The 2 star rating is quite true! Subpar to mediocre food. I wonder sometimes with their 2 huge lunchwagons if they’re really being honest with themselves and maybe send someone to culinary school if they want to be successful in this industry.

This is a family operated business. With that said, very unprofessional and bad customer service. Ordered 1 large fried chicken party platter. I pre-ordered a week before and also confirmed my order the day before pick up day with one of the male workers, who I am assuming is one of their sons. When I arrived for the pick up day, the restaurant was closed, but the female cook was still inside. She barely open the door for me and I had to stay outside to let her know my order and she had no idea what I was talking about. I called the guy who took my order and as soon a he realize his mistake, instead of apologizing or explaining he hanged up and did not answer any of my calls after that. So next best thing was to deal with the cook to make my order, who at first did not want to open the door for me to let me in. She did not want to make my order, but i refused to leave until I got it because I was not about to have a party without food. The cook was angry at me, no apologies, the order was mostly fried skin and little meat, and I had to wait for almost an hour with no type of compensation.

This is a review for the lunch wagon that they park in front of Waipahu Park on Paiwa St. My daughter attends preschool at the center here. They show up about the same time I do for pick up, 10:30ish. Without fail, there’s always a line of people waiting for them. It’s a mix of the seniors getting out of their exercise classes, people that live nearby and workers on break. When the the neon shirts show up, I know it’s time to pick up food. Mini plates are $ 6 and regular plates are $ 8. I think the standard choices are Fried Chicken, Garlic Chicken and Pinakbet with either rice or pancit canton or a mix of both. I always get one order each of the chicken, my husband and I share the Garlic Chicken, our kids share the Fried Chicken. My uncle from California was actually the first person in our family to buy a plate when he was here on vacation. He described it as the best chicken in the best sauce he’s ever had. I don’t think he’s far off. The food is good. We love the chicken. Love, love, love it. It’s dusted in cornstarch and fried perfectly, that garlic sauce is sweet and savory and the portions are great for the price. We just had some this week, and it heats up nicely in microwave afterwards. Service isn’t amazing and they’re cash only(seriously, there are apps that take debit!), but they’re dudes in a lunch wagon just doing their job. No big deal. But the cash only thing has prevented me from picking up food from them in the past. Even if they charged an extra fee for it, I’d still pay it just for the convenience.

Okay so I need to make it known that I am in the hunt of a very good fried chicken and am a difficult critic when it comes to fried chicken. It has to be juicy on the inside(somewhat like Popeyes) and crispy on the outside(like a good batch from zippys) with the right amount of coating. I don’t want to taste the oil. I want to taste the flavor without putting any ketchup, tobasco, or any other seasonings(like southern style). So here I go… I walked in and was immediately greeted by a young man waiting at the counter. He showed me the choices. So being a Filipino, I was lured into trying the pancit(noodles) and the pork and squash along with their popular fried chicken. With a bottle of water, I paid $ 8. Pretty good!(I don’t really like to pay for Filipino food since I’m suppose to know how to cook it but, well, ya know.) Okay so here goes, i take a bite and… meh. It’s crispy, it’s somewhat juicy, but the aftertaste told me it was a bit oily. It’s a good thing I had the squash to offset the taste. The pancit was okay also. Nothing special. Can’t really expect much from the location. You can almost understand why he chooses to close earlier than posted. All in all, I like the price. The young man spoke very good english and was very informative and patient. And the pork adobo looked really good, which I’ll choose next time if I’m ever in the area again wanting Filipino food.

HIGHLY unprofessional. Attended a funeral that was catered by them. Later on that night I was shown a post by a worker/employee/owner? of theirs on a social network(instagram) stating that they were«typical Filipinos… who didn’t order enough food,» since towards the end, only a few dishes were left or «wiped out.» As far as anyone with class and respect is concerned, a funeral is to pay respects to the person who has passed. It’s not a wedding or graduation parties with invites and rsvp’s, so one can never truly plan on how many will show up. A meal is not required, but is provided out of the kindness of the friends and family who has passed. Rtupinio, you were required to do one thing, show up and deliver the order. The fact that more than expected showed up and food ran out did not«make you look bad». It was that you disrespected your own customers and even posted a picture(!!!) of those who attended the funeral that did. «#keepinitclassynevertrashy»? I think not. That was distasteful and disrespectful, completely without class.

This is one of the CHEAPEST places to eat! My recommendation: 1 item plate for $ 3.99. They give two scoops rice along with a hefty serving of your choice. My favorite choice would be their EXTRACRISPY fried chicken or the pork adobo! It’s a hole in the wall and you can tell it’s a family run owned business but aside from that, their food is pretty good for that deal. Parking can be tricky because everyone’s usually going to Highway Inn but there are several street parking or just take a short walk from Longs. Happy eats!

I have yet to try their food. I bought a certificate from one of those half of deals wanting to try this plate out. A friend of mine recommended this place. I came on Sunday and found out that they are closed every weekend. :/so I came back today(Monday) and found a sign on the door stating that they were closed all week for catering. What?!? Why wasn’t the sign on the door yesterday. Not very happy about this and looking to see if I can get a refund on my voucher. I went down the street to Elena’s who has great food and is open today and on the weekends. I went back 2 more times during normal business hours and guess what? Yup, they were closed. No note no nothing. I went on TIPPR and asked for a refund on all of my certificates and got my money back. I have never eaten here nor do I plan to. This plan should not be allowed to over certificates on a discounted website if they can’t stay open durning their normal business hours for the customers to redeem them. Not a good way to run a business.

I initially gave this place 4 stars because I was pretty amazed at their tasty chicken. As you can see, I am completely downgrading my review because their customer service SUUUUUUUUCKS! I don’t expect much. Really. Its a family run business so hey I’m cool if you wanna have nana work the front and answer phones. Fine. But why is it when I call to make a pick up order, the perfectly competent son(I’m assuming) answers the phone, takes my order then hands the phone off to his mom(again I assume) only to repeat what I JUST told the guy. Yes! Why I don’t mind repeating myself at all. This has happened to me every single time I have called in for a pick up order. Yet, I keep calling for some dumb reason. Oh yah the chicken is bomb. My husband asked me to order a small tray of chicken for a party this weekend. I know they are only open during the week but open on the weekends for catering and pick up orders. So I call ahead of time to do so for pick up on Saturday. The same exact thing happens when I call. I expected that. Only thing this time was she told me she was busy with a customer and took my number to call me back. Holy hell!!! When she called me back, I missed the call but immediately called back only to get an answering machine. I continued to try and call only to get the machine and a few times it went to fax. Finally got through. I still had to repeat myself to her several times because her processing is a bit on the slow side. Then she proceeds to tell me they need a deposit due to people ordering and not picking up. Fine. Take my credit card over the phone I don’t give an eff! She tells me she doesn’t know how to do it over the phone. Are you freaking kidding me!!! I told her to forget it and hung up. My husband still wanted the chicken. I planned to be in the area today and swung by to pay for the order. Guess what?! They had a sign on their door saying they’re closing @ 1:30 when they are usually open till 8pm. It was 2:00. This was not the first time I went there to find them closed at a random time. Undeterred and pissed I walked in anyways. I had to yell for someone to help me and oh great, this time an older man comes out to help me. If you call his helping me, staring at me and calling the nana. Eff my life! I just want to order some damn chicken. I slowly say my order so there isn’t any confusion. Low and behold I still have to repeat things like pick up time and my name. How do you plan to run a business if you close at random times and inconvenience people by not taking credit cards over the phone for a deposit? I do not ever plan on patronizing this place ever again. Don’t get me wrong though. I’ll still eat the chicken if someone else gets it.

Located in a sketchy part of Waipahu hidden in the corner. Came in to pick up take out at 6:30pm and was told they were closing at 7 and i could only pick from chicken and noodles that has been out for who knows how long. Ended up walking out and driving to Thelmas instead. My suggestion, if you want to try their food go early around lunch.

#54/365 Ive been meaning to try this place since i had a coupon for it and i finally made my way here for some lunch. I think they open at 1030 and i got there at 1045 so they didnt have much for the hot plate items, only their fried chicken, pinakbet, pork adobo and pancit. The pancit was still being cooked up so i just went with the 1 choice pinakbet and 1 choice pork adobo, its 3.99+tax each but for both(with my bogo free coupon) i only paid $ 4.18! Damn what a deal! And its not a mini either, its a full plate with 2 scoops of rice. The lady was pretty nice too. Anyway, as for taste id give it a 3.5, its good but ive had better, but for price and quantity its pretty darn good and i wouldnt mind coming back to try more entrees.

Used the Entertainment Book BOGO free coupon worth $ 8.00. So I got a 2 choice plate for $ 5.99. So the second 2 choice plate, I got free. You can only use it for the 1,2,3,or 4 choice plates. You cannot use it on the other ala carte itemd that they have to offer which didn’t bother me. Items you can chose from are: fried chicken, pinakbet, spaghetti, pancit, and pork adobo at that time when I went. Owner was friendly. «Nana» gave generous amount to me. LOL. They are known for their fried chicken, and I must agree, it was crispy and tasty. The food was«OK». My husband liked it, but then again, he eats anything. Dining area was not the greatest. It has a TV, but nothing that interest us. All I can say is, we got our monies worth and our tummys filled;0)

tried this place with my hubby today — had seen it on a Sunday — and where it is is where there was a soul food place– we went in and the food was«ok» — my husband thot the shrimp tempura was worth the money as we paid roughly eight dollars — for a plate of 8 shrimp — they were just fried tho — NOT tempura — noodles– pansit was ok but for the price — too little — we did take home the balance — ONE thing which was HORRID — was they had a tv on and I think the show was called Wow wow Wowee ~not thrilled with that — it was SO loud — the waitress could not hear us place our order — and the tv kept stopping and replaying snippits of the show — NO ambiance — at all Food was so so — but would not go back –they need to readjust their tv and make it so that people can hear themselves talk — The menu looked good — which is what prompted us to try it tho —
