Awesome wonton soup! Firm wontons and nice tasting soup! Worth the price! Recommended if hungry for wonton soup or any type of Chinese food in Waipahu!

Seriously the worst place for Chinese hands down! It’s amazing how much my family loves this place and has parties here all the time. Oh wait! Cause it’s cheap, like dirt cheap, I mean I’m surprised I never found dirt in my food yet. … And they don’t have a pass sign on their door … Anyway my husband and I came here to Upon entry theirs no welcome, no host, just a few older ladies that worked their giving you blank stares across the room. Like I’m hello I’m hungry lol. Finally one of them sat us down. Tea cups are flipped over on a napkin. I flip the tea cup over and old tea leaves are stuck at the bottom of the cup all dried up. Obviously they don’t wash their dishes properly. Anyway, We ordered beef ongchoi and shrimp canton. Food came quickly and was piping hot which is always a good sign. Eating the food was good until we see something shiny in the beef ongchoi. Oohh no it’s part of a scrubber, you know the metal scrubber used for washing dishes. At that point I was furious!!! We didn’t finish the food. We paid and are never coming back!!! Do not eat here!!!

I go to Wong Kung for their wonton mein. Good price and they give a lot! Typical local style, which is hard to find nowadays. The place is old, and some areas in the restaurant stink, but I’m in Waipahu, so I don’t expect much. Bathroom is kinda dirty too, but it’s expected for an old place. One time I found a B52 roach leg in my wonton mein! I just told myself it was a Chinese medicinal roach leg. LOL! Main thing is that I didn’t get sick. Whenever I’m down that way, and I’m hungry for wonton mein, I will go to Wong Kung!

MON, 2−8−16 at about 12:15 pm Oh, my! Oh, my! Oh, my! Wong Kung Restaurant has really gone downhill recently. First of all, it now has a yellow(conditional) food placard, meaning that there are severe food sanitation issues. But Mike the owner is such a nice guy that I decided to order lunch there today despite the yellow food placard. I waited over 15 minutes for oyster sauce chicken over chow mein. The service was exceptionally poor today. In fact, the service seemed non-existent. Here’s the most disappointing part of my experience with Wong Kung today: There was a roach in my take out oyster sauce chicken over noodles dish. I returned to Wong Kung immediately to address this unsanitary situation. Unfortunately, Mike had already left. His employees gave me blank stare as though it was my fault that the roach was in my food. I had to raise my voice and insist that they give me a refund immediately. I got my refund and will not likely return to Wong Kung for a very long time. I really want to support local businesses like Wong Kung, especially since the owner Mike is a really nice guy, but I can do without a roach in my food. I have a suggestion for the owner Mike: close your restaurant for a few weeks, renovate and sanitize that place. I’m sure we’d all be willing to pay higher prices for a cleaner establishment. And I’m sure we are in full support of your improving your restaurant so you can have a green food safety placard and stay in business for many years to come. Aloha.

Good food for the price and probably one of the cheapest chinese food places that I have been to. This is not a place to come to if you’re looking top notch service with new tables/seats. The place looks like the typical under maintained chinese restaurant. In the parking lot there are always people loitering, but they seem to not cause any trouble though I wouldn’t want to stay longer than the time it takes to eat.

Roaches in my food, the lady did nothing about it just gave us a new portion and no apology or comp. I know this place closed down years ago for maggots in the food… Looks like nothing changed this place is disgusting.

ZEROSTARS! Our pot roast pork has a baby ROACH in it! And we watched the guy drop all of the gau gee on the floor and pick it up and put it back in the pan!!! WTF! And it DIDNOT go into the trash! They left it on the table behind us, I’m guessing they’re going to RE-SERVE it!!! *GAG*

Came here a couple times both dining in and take out. The food really is «worth» the price because often times, the rice is served cold and everything just seems to be put together at the last minute. I would even choose Panda Express over this. Customer service isn’t really good and I wouldn’t come back again.

I had lunch here today with my mother in law and we waited almost 15 minutes for someone to just notice us that we were ready to place our order. Everyone is all over the place and not organized. Theres a lady that cleans and just looks at us, but when other come in she takes there orders. This place may serve good food and cheap but they have THEWORSRCUSTOMERSERVICEIVEEVEREXPERIENCED. Get your damn workers trained or find people that dont favor their own race.

I love this place. It’s a typical Chinese restaurant so don’t expect a grade A+++ experience cause hey, you get cheap eats and great Chinese food so why even complain? The $ 4.75 lunch and $ 6.75 dinner specials are a steal, especially because I work minimum wage and don’t have time to cook for myself. The owner is incredibly nice and friendly too!

Pretty much your average neighborhood chop suey. The owner Michael is a good friend but sometimes the food is inconsistent. Some days are worse than others depending who the cook is. Very run of the mill, average Chinese.

If you want Chinese food this is the best place to go to. We always order their ginger chicken, shrimp canton, minute chicken and stuffed eggplant. Always hits the spot.

My in-law’s family’s go to place for Chinese food and for dinner parties. We come here at least seven times a year. My family has been dining and doing take outs from this place since I could remember. The owner is always there and he’s always polite and friendly. The food is good. We tend to order the same dishes over and over again and we enjoy it everytime. If you are dining in, you may need to remind the servers to refill and for saucers but it’s mostly because business has picked up, and there’s usually just one server and the owner helping customers. Oh and for you drinkers, it’s BYOB. Those celebrating birthdays can bring your own cakes and little paperplates. They’re usually cool about letting us use more utensils and their knife to cut the cake.

My parents love coming to this place so did the rest of our ohanas .My dad loved their seaweed soup, my mom love their ginger chicken. For me I love eating their Chinese chicken salads. All of us have been coming here to eat for years. Micheal who took over his parents place is a dear friend to my parents. They have a friendly staff, cozy place to eat,& during graduation seasons Wong Kong do open late for parties. This place brings nostalgic memories for me & my ohanas.

My family and I have been going here for decades. The owner and previous owners literally saw my son grow up. From a twinkle in his mother’s eye to a 20-year-old young man. There are other Chinese restaurants in Waipahu, but our family have been loyal to Wong Kung’s, and wouldn’t even think of going to another Chinese restaurant within a 20 mile radius. This is your typical family style Chinese restaurant that serves the typical local Chinese food. I’m sure when you come here, you’ll look at the décor, see that the menu has the same thing that you’d find at any local Chinese restaurant and taste their food and say, «Hmm, nothing special». However, you’ll find that the waitresses are friendly, attentive, and sweet. Michael, the owner/general manager is easy to chat with and just an all around friendly guy. But be observant, you’ll see that there are lots of take out orders and Michael, the general manager will greet his customers by name or joke around with them. IMHO, this is what separates him from all the other places. Every Chinese New Year, they make Jai, and I love it! I’ve never had Jai at other places, so I wouldn’t know how it compares. A few of my family favorites for parties: — gon lo mein, chinese chicken salad, beef broccoli, seafood vegetable, fried rice, oyster sauce chicken When dining in/take out: — dinner plate, soft won ton min, beef broccoli, seafood casserole, chilean sea bass with black bean sauce(i haven’t seen it on the board lately though), honey walnut shrimp(or something like that … I always mess up on the food, but they always seem to know what I’m talking about), stuffed duck(my son fave), peking duck, cashew chicken. They also have a lunch plate special where they have a few lunch plates for only $ 4.75. Can you imagine that? That’s less than fast food«value» meals!
