This year will be 20 years since I first started purchasing computer peripherals and Apple products for our small business from Small Dog Electronics. That should say something in itself … Very happy with their customer service, quick shipping, and selection. Looking forward to many more years!

I’m writing this on my smartphone, which should tell you something about their computer repair service. I brought my laptop in October 8th as it was not booting up. I went to Small Dog because I’m attending school in Montpelier and there are no Apple stores around. It has now been 3 weeks and my computer is still not ready to pick up. What’s worse is, I have made every phone call to their tech support checking up on the repair process. I have not once received a phone call from them letting me know the status of my computer. The first time I called was the following Monday, 4 days after I brought it in. I was told the diagnosis of my computer — a defective battery and external hard drive issues — and paid $ 150 for a data recovery service. Once I gave them my payment information, I was told it would be sent to some sort of Apple factory and would be repaired there. I was told it would take about 2 – 3 days for the repair and that the computer would be shipped overnight both ways. Fast forward to the next week, around Wednesday and I haven’t heard any updates regarding my repair. I call again, and this time I am told it is still in repair and has not been shipped back. At this point in the review I’d like to mention that I am attending a college and have hours of online work that is impossible to do without a computer. Anyways, now we’re at Friday, October 24th and I call again praying that my computer will finally be ready. It’s finally back at the Waitsfield location but since my data had to be recovered onto a hard drive, none of my data is on my now-working computer. So they have to send a technician down to their location to put it back on, but it would take a day or two. Today is October 28th and I still do not have my computer. I went into the store hoping my data would be back on my computer. It wasn’t. I’m honestly tired of the lack of communication going on and at this point am in dire need of my computer. «Sorry» can really only go so far after 3 weeks.

This place stinks. I would NEVER do business here again. They sold me a defective computer then made me wait in line for several days for a repair. Can’t get through to technicians either – they put you through to a machine-then you leave a message and don’t hear back. I expected better than THIS form a local place. BUYERBEWARE!

I purchased a MacBook Pro in 2011 with 8 gigs of memory for my business as a computer programmer and web developer. I also purchased Apple Care. I was to discover that they had installed third party memory instead of Apple approved memory. Here is how i discovered that: Soon after I received it I encountered random computer crashes. I assumed it might be related to migrating from my previous MacBook so I slowly worked on cleaning up the machine’s configurations. After several months of unsuccessful efforts I called Apple and they help me do some final cleanup. It did not help. Recently I got so bad(daily crashes) that I took it into my local Apple store and when they did diagnostics the machine to discover that it was originally a 4 gig machine and that the memory was replaced and was not covered because it was«third party». There was video problems as well so the motherboard was replaced under Apple Care. They suggested that I should try it with that memory and see if that fixes the crashing. It did not. I then had to purchase Apple memory and it has not cashed since(two months now) I think it was extremely dishonest to swap out warrantied memory for third party memory without permission or notice. I thought I was purchasing a fully covered and approved Apple product. This cost me many hours of lost work time as well as having to purchase new memory to replace the memory swapped in. I would be extremely cautious in dealing with this company.

I now live in chicago and recently purchased a macbook pro online from small dog. I have been using smalldog for sales and service since 2008(i used to live in vermont) and have had nothing but amazing experiences with them. Their products are amazing, their used and refurbed items are excellent and they are so nice and helpful! Just because you don’t live in Vermont is no reason not to buy from them! My laptop was delivered very quickly and was perfect(i bought i used from them).

I live in Denver, CO so this is a review of Small Dog’s online/mail order operation. Excellent service. Before and after the sale. I have purchased 3 Macs from Small Dog in the last 2 years and am completely satisfied. But, the true test of a company is when something goes wrong. I ordered a brand new iMac and someone’s fingers slipped and the wrong computer was shipped to me. The two machines were almost identical, but not quite. These things happen. I called my sales rep and he said: «My fault. We will overnight a new iMac to you.» They did. It arrived 26 hours later. They also included a return label and UPS will pick up the wrong iMac this afternoon. This is great customer service.

My friend recommended me to make a donation to Haiti on the Small Dog Electronics website because they advertised that they will match my donation. About 1 week after, I received fraudulent charges on my credit card. I was a victim of identity theft. Small Dog Electronics sent me a letter on Jan. 29, 2010 stating that they had a security breach in their database. I have never gotten my identity stolen before and all of this happened because I decided to make a charitable donation to a company that lacks competence in securing their customers’ most valuable information. I would not recommend for anyone to do business or purchase anything from Small Dog Electronics.

small dog is great. but if you need a pc go to brads computer in shelburne. he will get u the best price on computers and service. small dog will cost alot but will be good

Small Dog Electronics is a fantastic store. I live in Atlanta, they are in Vermont but I order anything computer related from them. I recently needed an adapter so I could use an external monitor with my MacBook, but I no idea exactly what I needed. I sent them an email and within a few hours had a response. Not being all that computer savvy, I needed a bit more info, so I asked more questions and again got a response within the hour. My adapter is now on its way to me. They also have a wonderful weekly email with all kinds of helpful Mac info, a great website, and an interesting blog. I can buy whatever I need without ever having to go to one of those giant electronics stores, and I know that I will get excellent quality for a great price. I’ll never buy anything Mac from anywhere else. They have made a loyal customer out of me with their wonderful customer service and expertise. I just can’t say enough good things about this company!
