Food was not too bad. Typical bar food. Nachos were unusual(beer cheese sauce/ranch dressing) but overall not too bad. Ham n Egg burger was good. Probably a 3 ½ food rating overall. Minus ½ a star when you have to ask for utensils, straws, napkins and condiments. Waitress came by to take our order and saw her one other time. Overall just average.

We went here the other day, and I was so thankful they were open! They are about the only restaurant that stays open past 9⁄10 in this town! We went in during karaōke night and the hostess was very apologetic about it being so loud. She said that they had just closed the dining room and apologized for that too. We didn’t mind we sat in a booth at the bar and I ate great ribs! We were amazed at how great the service was because the bartender had a full bar, but my drink never went empty. The music was a little louder than I would have liked. I don’t mind loud, but it was almost ear drum bursting loud.

This is such a great place to eat. We ordered the lasagna and the chicken carbonara, both were absolutely fantastic. Such huge servings of everything! The waitress kept our drinks full and was very attentive. We will all be going back soon.

The experience wasn’t perfect but I certainly became a fan and I would not have wanted it any other way. In reading the other reviews, I understand the frustration with the identity crisis My Place seems to present. One of very few places around Raleigh that doesn’t tell a pants on fire story about their hot sauce. I like heat, make me SWEAT! Yeah, Baby! This place brings it! There’s a little story that leads up to this. I was hungry — I’d been working half the day, then at the recording studio for a few hours. I told my bride to meet me at «My Place»(I had bookmarked it months ago to try). Of course she was confused, thinking I was telling her to meet me at home for some(insert adult flick groove music here), but no… that was not the case. I told her to head out to Wake Forest like she was going to Wal*Mart and she’d find a place called«My Place» Well, she beat me there because I had to stop for gas along the way before I got stranded somewhere along Capital Blvd. The place is a former«Uno’s Pizzeria of Chicago» type of sports bar. Unassuming woody interior with room for a dance floor. We were greeted and seated rather quickly. Our server appeared to be slammed, however, so the management(or owners) were helping her out. Here’s a really funny spot — when our server took our drink order, I asked for a Negra Modelo — she thought I had asked for an «armadillo» and came back to say they were out of the beer I had asked for — so I pointed it out on the menu and asked if she was sure they were out of Negra Modelo and she laughed with an OMG expression, went back, got the Negra Modelo and explained what had happened — we all got a kick out of it. The jalapeño poppers here are NOT the typical deep fried bread encrusted jalapeño poppers you get everywhere else. They’re much better, and done almost the way I do my own roasted poppers! The firehouse burger I ordered had jalapeño slices on it and a cheddar sauce. When the manager/owner dropped the burger off he warned me that the peppers were hot and I gave him a «yeah right» look with a snarky quip about how he was probably giving me a line. He looked at me with a smile and asked if I liked heat and I responded in the affirmative. When he asked if there was anything else we wanted or needed I asked for some hot sauce — he smiled and said he had just the thing for me. Oh Yes He Did!!! Holy mother of Carolina reapers and ghost peppers that was some tasty and HOT sauce — a dab will do ya kind of hot sauce, I was immediately won over! Oh, and the rest of the food wasn’t bad either. Interaction and conversation with the management/staff was great. Expectations have to be set before getting here — it’s a come as you are American food, Pizza, pub fare, burgers and complete dinners — it’s not fancy schmancy, and more of a t-shirt or plaid flannel kind of place than a button up with a neck tie. For church goers — bring your church bulletin with you after church on Sunday and get a 10% discount on your meal, and don’t forget to loosen’ your tie when you come in the door.

The nachos were awesome and so filling that we almost couldn’t eat our meals! My veggie burger was delicious and my sister and her husband both enjoyed their burgers: firehouse burger and the Hawaiian!

This is one of those places that seems to inspire staggered expectations. So, for what it is worth, if you are looking for clean family entertainment without profanity or drunkenness or card-playing or smokers, all things that other reviewers have spoken ill of, you have most assuredly gone to the wrong shop, especially if you opt for the bar side rather than the restaurant side. If, conversely, you are looking for a nice selection of craft pints(with excellent NC offerings such as Foothills, Duck Rabbit, and Natty Greene), a friendly local sports bar, and some unexpectedly good wings, the bar side might just be your place. Okay, this story is more complex: My Place also rescued the missus and I from a horrible experience at Village Deli and Grill down the street. After a dreadful and deeply unsatisfactory lunch there, half of which was thrown in the trash, and for which I am hopeful for an an apology and a refund, we decided that we still needed to eat. My Place was on the way back home, so we gave it a shot. Turns out, we don’t have to drive all the way to Raleigh from Youngsville to find someplace to get a bite and a pint. It’s right(ish) around the corner in Downtown Wake Forest. We were looking for wings, a food fetish of mine that sits poorly with my other ethical commitments, but hey, I’m on vacation. I ask if theirs are any good. While it’s a rare day that anybody says, «No, they suck,» I can usually get a feel for the actual enthusiasm anyone expresses about food, and the guy at the host stand says they’re awesome. And they are. What we got was advertised as grilled jerk, but probably fried first: they’re crispy and tender and the jerk rub is good, and the side of the house hot sauce that we ordered to dip – well, I know this punctuation-for-emphasis schtick is played out, but all I can say is oh. my. lawd. It’s thick and chunky and hot as a shot of tequila lit on fire(okay, that simile was stupid, and I’m struggling here today, so indulge me): plenty o’ habaneros with a nice balance of sweet, salty, smokey, and just damned hot. They were fierce, child. Service was okay, and I can see how they might get behind if the place is full, but no problems here. Place looks like a sports bar, with TVs and high tables and such. There is a juke box that we will check out next time through. And there will be a next time, because my wife’s parents live in the woods near here, so I’ve bookmarked My Place as «handy holiday escape.»

We’re there on a slow night with good service. Give it a shot. Same thing on several other weeknights. Good choices in burgers and pizzas, as well as local craft beers.

This review is for the bar side only, we’ve never eaten in the dining room. The bar is great, they have a good selection of beers on tap including Shock Top Pumkin Wheat, my personal favorite. Our bartender the first time was scatterbrained and kept forgetting about us, but tonight our bartender was great! The food is good. My hubby got the pimiento burger which was delish and I got the Reuben which was awesome as well. Also, their wings are great and so is the beer cheese dip pretzel. I heard not so great things about this place so it took me forever to try it. It just goes to show ppl don’t always have good taste in everything;)

I have been here about 6 maybe 7 times. Firstly send the smoking bar flies to the back. As you drive up you’re greeted by the local smoking boozers standing out front. Not good. hello management??? Minus 2 stars right there. Food and beer were fine for a sportsbar. We had the nachos and beer. Watched the game. No complaints until we had to encounter the obnoxious local smokers on the way out. Could be a good place. I’ll drive by one day and see if there’s been any improvement. Will report back.

The food is delicious! I’ve tried the chicken nachos, fried green tomato burger, and meatballs, they were all fabulous! My husband is extremely picky, and he has loved all his meals there! The wait time is definitely NOT long compared to other restaurants! The customer service is wonderful. The manager always greets us and talks to us, even telling us how to have a cheap Sunday football lunch or dinner! The waitresses never rush you while you are ordering, they check-in perfectly. I’m so sick of Olive Garden and Red Lobster! We love that«My Place» has a variety of menu items. My husband just wishes they would have a burrito on the menu :)

This place had extremely slow service. We received our food almost thirty minutes after ordering and the restaurant was practically empty. If you are hungry or in even a small hurry, don’t come here.

Ok, so this was our first visit and must say not too bad. Though I think this restaurant will have an identity crisis? What is it? Is it a local bar that does line dancing on Friday night during the NCAA Tourney? Is it a sports bar? Just seems like they are trying to be a catch all vs trying to excel at one thing. The service was quick and friendly. My family ordered some wings and they actually did a custom style that was not on the menu. We also had some of the pizza. The pizza was pretty good, but not mind blowing. I would say this place has potential if they can home in on what they really want to be. We would go back and try it again.

If I could give a place 0 stars then I would have. First off the only other people in the place was a bunch of people playing poker. So basically this place was pretty empty. This being said we waited 45 minutes for our appetizer. When it arrived everything on it was cold and old. Nothing was fresh. At this point I was over it and just wanted to leave to get food. We called the host over and he preceded to get the manager. This took another 10 minutes and when he finally came over all he said was that the plate was warm because the food came straight out of the oven. Guess what? You can’t eat a plate and no apology. Fail. This place failed in all aspects — service and food. Will I come back? Nope. I predict this place will close and fail just like all the ones before it.

We tried this place for the first time, and I’m glad we did. I got the Firehouse Burger and my husband got the Meatloaf dinner. The burger was fabulous! The meat was tasty and juicy and the bun choice was superb. I especially liked the spicy cheese and onion strings — they complimented this burger perfectly. My husband really liked the glaze and cheese on top of the meatloaf — he would have preferred that there be more of it, since the thickness of the meatloaf made the bottom of the meatloaf rather bland. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back for the burgers — I might even try other options on their menu if I can drag myself away from the burger selection. One thing I will mention — it seemed to be themed a «Sports Bar» inside. Huge TVs all around and different games/sporting events on. The bar had many people there and were a bit noisy — there was a football game that they were watching. My husband was happy with that — and I was so pleased with the food that I didn’t mind ;-)

Returned back for another big group lunch. This time I was more impressed. Orders were taken quickly and efficiently. Food also came relatively quickly for a large group and all were correct. I had a burger with pineapple and bacon and it was delicious. The star on the table for all that ordered(most of us) were the onion rings. They were breaded just slightly and cooked to perfection. Not greasy or soggy, simply perfect. Also nice again for the manager to come greet our group and offer assistance, although we didn’t need any as the waitress did a superb job. Great reasonably priced lunch spot right by Walmart in Wake Forest.

Okay, I’m really not sure where the negative food reviews come from. My husband and I are foodies, and we are pretty particular about what we eat. First, this is a sports BAR! So for those people who are complaining about food quality and prices(???), I’m not sure where they are used to going, but this place is definitely a step up from any chain restaurant. There are some dishes on the menu(shrimp and grits, turkey burger) that are true standouts. The drinks are great, and every person who works there is friendly and outgoing. And the pimento cheese dip for an app is super yummy! They are definitely trying for a casual, comfortable environment, and I think they are doing a great job at achieving this. Can’t wait to watch games here during football season!

I used to always visit this place when it was Old Chicago Pizza. When I heard a new restaurant had opened up I decided to give it a go. They have a huge beer selection which was impressive and the service was good. The food was nothing to rave about. 1. Chicken Wings with Chipotle BBQ Sauce — Nothing exciting. The standard. I did get to try the Thai sauce on the side which was tasty. 2. Firehouse Burger topped with fresh jalapeño, spicy onion straws, and smothered in our Guinness cheddar cheese sauce — Great concept but the burger was not juicy and the cheese sauce was not as good as advertised. 3. Tator Tots — Crispy and perfectly cooked. I’m not sure if I would go eat here again but definitely would come grab some drinks and watch some sports.

We knew we’d have to try this place when every time we passed there was a firetruck in the parking lot, and firemen are pretty well know to be good cooks. So, even without a clue about the menu we decided to visit. For those who remember the Chicago Pizza that used to inhabit this space, you know exactly what the interior looks like… nary a thing has changed. It basically looks like an O’Charley’s or Applebee’s; low-lighting, lots of wood, and mostly booth seating. Nice and familiar American restaurant. The fare is familiar, too. Pizzas and burgers are the key players, with some higher-end entrees and a smattering of salads to round out the offerings. There are a good many beers on offer, but one of the main reason I wanted to go was the opportunity to pair White Street Brewing Co.‘s Scottish Ale with food… since the brewery itself doesn’t offer food. I ordered the Firehouse Burger and my wife got the Classic Burger. The Firehouse was topped with fresh sliced jalapeños, which was a nice surprise as I was fully expecting pickled from a can. Also featured was a Gunnies-cheddar sauce(delicious) and onion straws. The burger was thick, juicy and not overdone(which I always fear at places that cannot do rare/med-rare as they tend to overshoot). Overall the burger was quite tasty if a bit dry; I had to ask for some mayo to add. I choose the onion rings for my side and they were good and not greasy. My wife’s burger arrived with no condiments whatsoever, and there weren’t any on the table so we had to ask for ketchup and mustard for her. Oddly, they did not have dark mustard available, either. A pleasant surprise is that she was able to choose bleu cheese for her burger, making it a bit more special than American, Swiss, cheddar or whatever. She liked her burger and it, too, was a proper medium. She got the potato salad for her side. It was quite mayonnaise-y, even a little much for me, and I like a creamy potato salad. So be aware. The taste was good and was loaded with smoky bacon flavor. Definitely a very guy-friendly potato salad. All in all, it was a pleasant evening, good food and service, and the final check including tip was under $ 30. We’ll be back.
