I moved to NC last year and was introduced to the world of propane. Stories abound with all the predatory and price-gouging practices they engage in. I experienced it first hand in my first winter here where my monthly propane bill was $ 500. It is sad that these companies take advantage of their customers especially when it gets cold! I am sure there are some reputable propane companies out there, I just have not yet found them. Alas, I finally moved to a new home but was saddened to learn I needed propane. I was dreading a repeat of the poor customer service, price gouging, and re-fills when I never asked for them from my next supplier. This is where Propane Club of America comes in. They are an advocate of sorts for those of us in need of buying propane, propane tanks or the labor to install them. It is a membership based service, where, as a member, you are entitled to multiple different programs etc. I dealt with Glenn and found him to be very knowledgeable, affable, and very open about the pro’s and con’s of getting your propane one way or another. He helped me through the whole process of buying a tank from a distributor, having it installed by a local company, and finally, getting a guaranteed price for the initial fill and throughout the year. Based on the install alone, and the team they used, I saved 3X the membership cost. Add that along with all of Glenn’s knowledge about what to do and what not to do, and you’ve go a winning formula. I would recommend Propane Club of America(aka NC Propane Club) to anyone who has the misfortune of having to deal directly with buying propane!
