Love this store! Every time I go the service is excellent! The staff is knowledgable, very helpful, friendly and polite! I don’t always know what I need or even what I’m doing when I start a project and I have gotten the best advice and just the right supplies.

Called to see if they carry shampoo for carpet cleaning machines, they put me on hold, and forgot about me, while I listened to a guy and a girl chatting in the background. When I called back a few minutes later, and asked about carpet cleaner again, the guy just hung up on me. I called back again, and this time got hung up on without anyone even saying hello. Very disappointed by such incompetence and complete lack of courtesy.

Its what you want in a local hardware store. Been coming here since moving to Wakefield 15 years ago. Great to have a place that when you come, you know you are going to get quick sound advice along with the right product/​tool for the job. No, the prices typically are not lower than Home Depot, nor do they have the longer hours.
By way of example, last night I went to Home Depot twice (after Hart’s closed) to do a minor kitchen sink piping repair, and both times was given the wrong parts, by a guy that knew as much about sink repair as I did… so off to Harts I go this morning, where I know I will get the right stuff… which (I keep forgetting this) is worth so much more than the $ 1-​$ 2 more I might have to pay over the big box store.

They always to seem to have what I need and there is always someone available to help. I never found that in the big box store. I have been a loyal customer for years for this reason. And they have talked me through many repairs and home improvements and always given sound advice. Prices are good. Sales are great.

Hart’s Hardware is the best. I should know, since I used to work there. As a fairly new homeowner, my husband and I have been to Hart’s many times asking for some help with do-​it-​yourself projects. Lenny, Doug, Gary and Juanita are all super helpful and knoweldgable. You will never get this kind of attention at a big hardware store. Hart’s also carries a «green» four step law program that is reasonably priced and does not contain chemicals. All prices are competitive and the service can not be beat.

The folks here are as good as they come! I go in there constantly with a problem that needs to be solved, but not knowing how to describe what I need to buy to do so as I am not a DIY person AT ALL. Gary Hart (and everyone there really, but I always try and find Gary) listens patiently to my crazy explanations of what I want to do or am looking for and always figures out what the best thing would be for the job, how to use it when a description is needed and where to find it… or will tell me honestly that there’s no such thing! Everyone there really knows their stuff and are always extremely helpful. There are so many fascinating things in there I could probably spend an afternoon wandering the aisles quite happily. I do wish it was a bit larger, but realize that cannot be remedied. If they don’t have it and it can be ordered they are happy to do it. You can also order things at the ACE website and have them shipped to the store for free for pickup. I much prefer this small store to one of the big ones where no one has time to listen and you need to pack a lunch and water to find the items you are looking for… assuming you know what they are in the first place!
