This review is very difficult for me to write. I wanted so badly to absolutely LOVE this place because every review we read on all the travel sites were 4 and 5 stars. The innkeeper Dominika was fantastic helping us to locate local things to do. She printed out maps and gave direction on various places to eat and venture. This was very much needed as we arrived in the off season when so many things were closed. She’s a big personality — be ready. Her breakfasts were good — filled with a variety of interesting local sausages from Morse’s(a must do when in Waldoboro), fresh from the garden herbs and home canned jams and jellies. Her breakfast schedule was adjustable and we could sleep or rise as early as we needed. While filling and tasty they were far from the gourmet breakfasts we read about in the other reviews. Our room — the robin room — was quiet, a good size, very private and had a decent sized private bath — shower only and it was small. We could adjust the temp ourselves which was nice and the owner’s cat Yodi stayed in there with us most of the time. We missed our cats back home and that was a treat. Free, unsecure Wi-fi was available in the room. All the reviews we read told us not to expect anything fancy. The Innkeepers had bought the place and opened it pretty much as they bought it. While the bathrooms seemed a bit out of date and the doors all didn’t quite close right it wasn’t a problem. Part of the charm of the Inn was it’s authenticity. I had no problem with this as the guest room was clean and fresh. Now the reasons for the 3 star rating: Both of us had a HUGE problem with being told there were no keys to any of the rooms and they never locked the front door. It was a small town and they’d never had any problems, they told us. That’s all fine and dandy but now MY stuff was in that house and I kinda like being able to secure it. If vulgar language is something that makes you cringe, this may not be the place for you. I have been known to rattle off a string off curse words that would make a sailor blush but even I had trouble at times with the number of F-bombs Dominika’s partner Linda dropped while we shared coffee in the mornings. There really was no common area except the kitchen. At times the door to that area was closed while the innkeepers watched TV in their private living room just off the kitchen or cooked meals for themselves and friends. Perhaps had there been more guests they would have felt more obligated to leave it open for everyone to gather. Still it would have been nice to have more than just our room to be in while staying. If you dislike things sitting on every flat surface in sight, be warned. They love all sorts of things sitting on all the shelves and counters and chairs and floors and tables. The Innkeepers did apologize for the clutter. Other reviews told us it was like staying in someone’s private home and would be a different B&B experience. They were right. Still we were paying to stay there and expected it to be a bit more professional.
