The ONLY reason to come here is for the Fried Crabs… PERIOD. They are they only place that I’ve found to get this right, unfortunately.

Yums Grand Buffet had different owners this past decade. The current proprietor have done a good job improving not only the place and service but also the quality of food. My family have been coming to Yums since it opened. Steve(restaurant proprietor) is not only a friendly and nice guy but also a guy who cared about the taste of the food he is serving to his customer. We do not get tired eating at Yums every Sunday.

Absolutely love this place. Whenever I have a craving for Chinese food, this is the place I would go. Their prices are very reasonable. I believe it is around $ 13.95/pp for Weekend All-Day dinner and $ 7.95/pp for all other times. You can definitely tell there are a lot of regulars here as they interact well with the waitresses. There’s a new owner and she is very dedicated to this place. She’s there all the time and even introduced new(and sometime exciting and strange) dishes to try. She also welcomes any suggestions to food. What I like about this place is that they cook in small batches if it is slow so that the food can stay fresh and increase the amount of food as they get more and more customers. I usually go to the dinner because they have seafood, such as fried crabs, salt and pepper shrimp, baked scallops, etc. The waitresses are very friendly and very attentive. My drink never reaches the bottom of the glass before they ask if I need a refill. I doubt that the clientele that go to this place will write reviews on here. But I would like to offer my opinion to counter those who write reviews out of rage. It is a buffet not a 5-star restaurant and don’t treat it like one. People only write reviews when they’re either really happy or really mad.

I have been traveling for business to Waldorf for the last 9 years. I have occasionally visited Yums and feel that I have a «pretty» good idea of that which I speak of. Yum’s is so concerned about saving on their electric bill that it is overly warm in the summer and cold in the winter. In other parts of the world, this is part and parcel of the dining experience, but not in the US. Here, we like it freezing in the summer and way hot in the winter. This, being a reflection of our(by comparison) very cheap cost for energy. Today, their booth seats had 3 inch gashes running down the middle, not repaired or replaced. They also were selling candy for 60 cents at the cash register, which gave me pause. Halloween left-overs? Three items that HAVE to make you wonder what kind of product, what kind of cost cutting they are engaging in with the food. And that is a worrisome consideration for any restaurant, let alone a buffet. As to the food, the actual taste is pretty good, and beats any of the other buffets in the area. I just think that Yum’s is penny wise and pound foolish and I always leave wondering if I will be ravaged by some ecoli-like bacteria the same day.(So far so good today…) The two star rating is for the taste of the food. But the ambiance and the adove listed concerns should account for a separate minus 5 rating.

I believe my daughter and I got food poisoning here. All I ate was a small piece of General Tsao chicken and I’ve been suffering since.

Excuse me, but this review is written in my state of rage after: Read the above link first to get a backround before reading on. So being in a full starvation mode after striking out at my first 2 options, I was: Starving Angry Pissed In a state of rage Trembling Wet, not from sexual bliss, but from rain Dizzy Lightheaded Faint-eous I was very reluctant to come here but I also knew that if I didn’t get some food in me STAT, my Unilocaling days were doomed. Plus, how bad can a Chinese buffet be? The good-to-bad Chinese buffet ratio is probably in the vicinity of 1000:1. Unfortunately, I found the 1 today. Before going on, I’d like to say that I don’t particularly find any joy in bashing small businesses, especially if it seems to be a business that tries to do the right thing. I don’t like putting down honest people earning an honest living because I like to believe they’re doing the best they can, even if in my eyes, they come up short. I’d like to point out that the people working in view here are really excellent. They were efficient, friendly, and always had a smile when eye contact was made. No complaining or whining amongst themselves or nothing. Unfortunately, I wish I could say something nicer about the food. Yes, I was in a bad mood, but I like to think that I still gave a fair assessment. At a buffet, turnover is very important to not let the food stand out too long. Unfortunately, if there aren’t a lot of customers there, as was the case, the food will sit out, drying out more and more the longer it’s sitting out. If the food’s good, then more people will come, turnover will be much higher, leading to fresher food on a more consistent basis. I won’t get into the specifics about the food; I don’t give a crap about décor here or anywhere else; my food rating speaks for itself. Unfortunately, for me, the white rice was the ‘best dish’. And that’s saying something.
