My elderly mother bought a washer here and it was great! So she didn’t question them when she bought a dishwasher. They charged her $ 550 for a crappie new dishwasher and when she tried to get her money back they made up a bunch of lame excuses why they couldn’t do it. I’m writing this review for her because she’s not able to do the Unilocal thing. Make sure you check the quality before committing to something. My mom feels completely taken on that deal and now has to buy an entirely new dishwasher.

Walch’s is what the other reviewers have said — a small«mom & pop» appliance store who have been in business for decades — and in a town as small as Waldport, that speaks volumes. They formerly were Maytag dealers, but switched to Speed Queen due to the better quality, warranty, etc. The wife(and occasionally the daughter, who runs a small tanning operation in the same building) run the shop, while the husband repairs and installs appliances. They are knowledgeable about their products, and insure quality from start to finish. As one reviewer says, they are«the real deal» — there used to be many of these businesses in America until manufacturing was off-shored and the Big Box stores(and now Amazon) came in to disrupt the field. Despite their small size, they run a quality operation and maintain their price point as low as possible to remain competitive. The service what they sell, and also provide delivery and installation for a small fee.

Walch’s is owned and operated by a couple who have been taking care of Lincoln County customers for more than 30 years. That right there tells you most of what you need to know. They genuinely care about the quality of the products they sell and the services they provide and go above and beyond to ensure that you are satisfied. I bought a new fridge and chest freezer from them when I bought my house and have bought parts for other appliances from them for years. You might save a few bucks by buying an appliance from a big box retailer but if you do, you’re being penny wise and dollar foolish. You’re much better off supporting a locally-owned and operated business that services what they sell and are much more likely to help you out on short notice when you need it the most. Really nice people who care about their reputation and their community.

Walch’s is the real deal! A small town appliance store run by the owner who also provides installation and service. It’s no nonsense sales by people who know their stuff. They mostly sell Crosley which is manufactured by Whirlpool but adds a 10-year warranty that no other appliances come with. This covers the motor, fan and other expensive parts of a refrigerator, stove or dishwasher which basically means, you’re guaranteed to get 10 years out of it. Though the prices are a tad higher, Walch’s charges less for delivery and installation than bigger stores so it comes out the same or cheaper. Plus, they do it themselves and they stand by their products. What they stock is pretty much white and basic to deluxe. They don’t carry the fancy appliances that people buy for the looks, not performance. Last Christmas, my mom’s refrigerator died and she had guests coming. She bought one from Walch’s and they delivered it on Christmas Eve. Then, serviced the dryer that she was having trouble with! That’s service.
