Chris James Landscaping

This is the tenth year that Chris James and his fabulous staff have been taking care of my property in Ho-​ho-​kus. They now are here all four seasons to keep it looking its best, and I cannot imagine what I would do without their expertise and care. They were here today putting in beautiful mums and I said to them as I always do, «I am so happy to see you» and I really mean that. Over the years, whenever I glance out the window or walk outside to see the progress they are making on pruning and edging and mulching and in general working their magic, I can see the gentlemen always look happy as they work. I notice them step back often to check the alignment of new plantings or the symmetry of a bush, and I can see the pride they take in everything they do. Recently, CJL rebuilt my front steps and porch with new bluestone and stone facing and this was the first time I worked with their designer Rob. The results are fantastic! He, and Jason, the Operations Manager, and everyone associated with this company are true professionals who listen carefully and strive in every way to work with the homeowner to achieve the desired outcomes. Jason’s knowledge of plant and lawn care is vast and he has been a source of numerous wise ideas for my property. He and the rest of the staff are always professional, easy to communicate with, and a pleasure to know. Chris James Landscaping has made a huge positive impact not only on my property but also in the good works they do in the community for others, not just in landscaping. Wonderful people, wonderful work ethic, and wonderful results!

I own an investment property in NJ and I’ve used more contractors then I care to remember. To put it simply, CJL is the most professional company that I’ve ever hired to do anything with respect to property ownership. I have found it rare to have a representative of any company show up on time, provide a comprehensive quote and then watch my patio, retaining wall and perennial beds materialize on schedule. Frankly, given the experience I’ve had with other companies, it was a bit weird.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the staff. The project foreman took the time to assist my neighbor in corralling her dog by using part of his lunch. It happened, enough said.
Obviously, I wouldn’t hesitate to hire these guys again. It’s important that I trust my contractors as I’m 2 hours away. In fact, I’d consider paying extra to put these guys up in CT for the work I desperately need done there as well!

I spend the summers up here and the winters in Florida so I have a hard time maintaining my property. I was referred to them from a friend who just loves them. I am so happy that I found this company. The customer service is great and they always take time to answer my questions. They make me feel like I’m a priority. My lawn looks fabulous and I never have to worry about anything while I’m not here. They provide my lawn service as well as snow removal since I’m down south for that bit. They’re very honest and their work ethic is above par. I highly recommend them.

We contacted them for a large backyard projects and they promptly send out a landscape designer. We talked through some of our ideas and what the process would be moving forward. I was told we would have to pony up $ 750 for the design but it would be ours (whether or not we use them). Well, I asked for some reference projects with cost as this would give me a better understanding of what a landscape project with them would cost. I was promised an email the next day. Three month later, I am still waiting for that mail and we move on to another landscaping company.
