Connie’s Shear Elite

I found Connie thru another women who’s hair always was great. Well let me say this, I don’t write reviews too often, but I love this women’s work. I have been to high end NY city salons, medium end salons in NJ and a super fancy Salon in Summit and Connie beats them all. The color and cut is to die for. This women knows her stuff and honestly is the best hair dresser Connie is up on all the lastest styles, color techiques. Honestly she is the best I have found in 30 years of visiting all type of salons! Don’t let the other review fool you, this women is a true artist!

I went here for a wedding hair trial at the recommendation of my regular stylist, who was going to be out of town at the time of my wedding. I had a picture of the hair style that I wanted to try, and arrived on time for my appointment to find the owner/​stylist (Connie) outside smoking (I don’t smoke & don’t appreciate smelling it on other people, especially someone doing my hair). It was also August, & I was sweating the entire time because the ac was not high enough in the salon. Connie was pleasant enough & reviewed the picture & proceeded to style my hair. She did say that in order to do the style well, my hair needed to be longer. She was pretty quick, finishing my hair in about 30 min for a half up-​do, with the rest curled. When she finished, the style matched the picture fairly closely, but I looked like a poodle. I asked if she could pull a few more tendrils down because my head looked too round, she said yes, but she had «given me the style I asked for.» I couldn’t wait to get out of there because my hair looked ridiculous & I wanted to cry. I paid $ 60 (no tip) & left. I went to my mother’s salon & they took out the up do & scheduled a trial for me there (which they did NOT charge for, I might add). I would not return to Connie’s salon because although I had a picture, I expected an experienced stylist to tell me that the style was not right for me due to face shape or hair length. Also, when I commented on it, she basically made me feel like I was the idiot because she did what I asked. I also felt very uncomfortable in the salon, no reason in particular. I was very unhappy that I spent $ 60 for nothing, but had that happened on the day of the wedding, it would have been a lot worse. Also never returned to my regular stylist either after this since she seemed annoyed that I didn’t like my hair. I’m sure she’s a good stylist, but if a client is unhappy with a hairstyle, I think it’s the stylist’s job to make the client see that a better style is right for them or modify the style to fit the client.
