I’m kinda sad about it, but I have to update my previous review and knock it down one star. It’s still a great atmosphere and the staff are all extremely friendly, but I got an omelette for the first time and, well, it was just eh. There was barely anything in it! I felt like I was paying for a couple of eggs with a few pieces of spinach and a ½ tsp of cheese. I would go again, but I’ll never be ordering an omelette again.(The person I was with won’t go back, but considering how good this place was in the past, I’m just hoping it was an off day.) The homefries were excellent, though, really well-flavored and cooked!

Wife and I stopped in her on a Saturday for breakfast. Place was nice and clean. It had a friendly small town atmosphere. I grew up in Wallingford and this place used to be called something else, Ann’s I believe, and was a regular spot for locals. This was our first time trying it since it changed and we were impressed. Somehow our order ticket was lost in the kitchen so it took a long time to get our food. But they were very apologetic and comp’d our drinks. I ordered a ham and cheddar omelet with home fries and toast. Wife got spinach, mushroom and cheese omelet with home fries and toast. Everything tasted fresh and was very good. The home fries were really good, although the portion was small. In looking at what other tables got and pictures on Unilocal,I think they may have split one of the home fries orders to get our order out quick. They forgot the cheese on my wife’s omelet, which was written on the check, but didn’t have the heart to complain since they were so nice about the delay and comp’d our OJ. We weren’t going to make a fuss over $ 1 cheese when they just comp’d $ 6 worth of OJ. Overall, a good place, good food, and friendly staff. Unfortunately an honest mistake hampered things a bit, but will definitely give them another shot.

My family and I frequent this wonderful restaurant. It’s what you want when you picture a luncheonette – comfortable and yummy food. I have been many times for breakfast and lunch – both great. The food is always delivered quickly and is delicious. They have some of the best pancakes around town and yummy potato salad served with their lunch. The owner is always present when we are there and the staff is very friendly. Def recommend!

A true gem! We travel 40 minutes to Wallingford just to eat here! The food is excellent and the service is friendly and efficient. The New Britski omelette is awesome– Polish sausage, sauteed onions and cheese — topped with a pierogi! This special is a favorite. Another top contender is the OMG chicken salad. You can’t go wrong with any choice on the menu.

Great Place! Will come back again and often. I just have one teeny tiny suggestion for the owners: Real Maple Syrup!!! Ditch the Mrs. Buttersworth! It just doesn’t do your amazing pancakes justice! See you soon! ^_^

I’ve been here a bunch of times and haven’t had a bad meal! There are tons of breakfast places in Hamden, but I rather take the quick drive over here. The décor is cute and thematic to the luncheonette style and the overall vibe is welcoming. Great food, price, presentation, service; overall great place!

Great place with delicious food. Tastes very fresh and has delicious daily specials. Best part is it doesn’t taste greasy or fatty as in many dinners. Very nicely decorated and has a great homey feel.

Excellent breakfast spot, enjoyed the New Brit omelet featuring kielbasa and caramelized onions, as well as the corn beef hash side. Nice portion sizes and presentation for the price.

Although lunch is highlighted in their name, the breakfast here was downright AMAZING! We enjoyed the home made corn beef hash, which was great, but the country potatoes were the best I have ever had!

Great breakfast food, great location, great décor, great people. Everything I’ve had was delicious, most recently I had a fiesta omelette that was really tasty. Seasoned beef, homemade salsa, sour cream. The house coffee is also some of the best I’ve had. Also a plus that I’ve been able to get a seat when I come in on weekends! Totally recommend.

Damn, son. I was in a car full of people who had left for Cape Cod before the sun came up in order to beat traffic, but we needed to stop for some breakfast. This place came highly recommended and it sure delivered. Most places that serve large portions slack on the quality, and some places that have high quality food are short on the quantity, but not this place! They have some of the best breakfast food I’ve had, yet the portions are ENORMOUS! Check the size of the one pancake they give you with a breakfast combo in the picture I posted. I guess that should’ve been my first clue, hahaha. The lady who was running it couldn’t have been nicer either. We were there about 30mins after they had opened, and she had let her cook sleep in an hour later. That means she was the hostess, waitress, cook, and manager all rolled into one powerhouse of awesome. Didn’t skip a beat either. We took a business card to remember this place, as we WILL be back the next time we head up there!

Best breakfast & brunch in Wallyworld. Served all day(cough cough Café Ra). The staff is super friendly, and prices are reasonable. Definitely recommend to anyone in Wallingford. The hearty breakfast is solid and the Big Man’s Breakfast is insane! Sweet spot

This is the BEST breakfast ever! Hope that the cook is Laura! The homemade corned beef hash is ridiculously good. Order a pancake even if you think you don’t like pancakes– amazing! If breakfast isn’t your thing, I cannot find the words to describe the cheeseburger!

Came here for breakfast on a rainy Monday. My hubby and I randomly found this place during our travel. This place is a great spot for breakfast. Located in Wallingford center. Lots of parking on the streets, but they have a private lot in the back. The place is clean & fresh. Very cosy. I was impressed that two females were running the joint: one waitressing & the other at the grill. As for the food, it was super tasty. Coffee was great. We ordered Their Western Omellette & the Corned Beef Hash. See photos. It was tasty, cooked perfectly, & not greasy. The toast on the other hand had a little bit too much butter slathered on it for my liking, but otherwise good. Everything is freshly made. Highly recommend this place for breakfast. Also, the bathrooms were clean & functional. I like a place that is clean.

Nice little breakfast joint on center st. Nice service, clean restaurant, good food, and interesting specials what else can you ask for in a breakfast place. If you are in the area a must to check out.

Had breakfast for the second time here. They are so close to «great» but continue to miss the mark. The food is really good; I had a veggie omelet that was delicious and the coffee is really good for a place that’s basically a luncheonette. No lattes here, just a good cup of Joe. The problems? My friend ordered a daily special omelet and they put in the wrong meat. The waitress graciously apologized and a fresh one was made immediately. We both asked for«multigrain» toast, which is on menu, and we both got rye instead. It was tasty rye, but still. My third complaint? Why do they have to wipe down the table next to us with a strong-smelling antiseptic cleaner while I’m still eating? I appreciate cleanliness; I don’t appreciate pine sol with my coffee! And finally, there is still no readily accessible jelly or jam on the table; you have to ask. The prices are slightly expensive, in my opinion. Two omelets with toast and home fries and two coffees came to $ 25. That’s high for a luncheonette and for that price, I’m looking for perfection.

I’m so on the fence, there are things I loved & then things I want to cut them a break about because they are new & I do see great potential here. Let’s start with the basics, the staff is very friendly. If it makes any difference to you — it’s a genuine friendly. Not a marb red smoker calling you«hon» every time she talks to you. But like, these people don’t mind being at work & give a shit type of friendly. Décor is very friendly. I love the little egg on their front sign. Little attention to detail really stood out. The food, above average? A bit. The hash browns or potatoes that are shown on these reviews are NOT what you get. Mine where black, soaked in orange grease and clearly had been on the stove top all morning. I can tell at one point they were seasoned but all I got was dry over cooked potatoes. My bacon on the other hand was incredible — made to order and cut like slab bacon. This made for an excellent side & bacon egg & cheese. The rolls where literally delivered Sunday morning while we waited for our food, talk about fresh! My Daughter’s pancakes were superb! Best in the area honestly. They had a sweet flavor, one is more than enough for anyone. Very thick which was different but I bet makes for excellent pancakes when you add in something like blueberries! I will try it again. If I could give the store advise: make everything fresh to order, including hash browns. I get it is time consuming, but why rush? Food is much better when it’s made upon request, it’s Sunday morning, I don’t want to rush. I want to enjoy not cooking and have sometime to hold a conversation with my family. I also understand you’re trying to get the hang of things, but we waited 15 minutes for a drink, which is okay for food but not to be greeted. I don’t want to harp on this because the waitress was sweet as can be — but if you want to keep positive reviews you’ve really got to work on some sort of method that works when it comes to maintaining flow.
