Consistently great food and delicious margaritas! The burritos are the size of a loaf of bread, so bring your appetite! The staff is always very friendly without being overbearing, and the prices are just right. The bar is open late and you can find a crowd there anytime. It’s a perfect atmosphere for relaxing with some pals, but expect it to be a little louder on the weekends when the mariachi band plays.

Awesome food, just pissed that I would be charged $ 3.50 for a small thing of chips and 2oz of salsa. Only Mexican restaurant I’ve been to that charges for chips and salsa.

from time to time. when we crave for some mexican food. i head up to los mariachis. service has always been top notch. food is likewise excellent and abundance in quantity.

My wife and I ate here earlier this week. We actually selected it based upon the reviews that we had seen on Unilocal.
I have to be honest and say that the reviews do this place justice. The food was exceptional, the portions were large, and the service was wonderful.
My wife and I had nothing but good things to say about this restaurant!!!

Ordered take out — chimichanga was not good, flimsy outside, inside looked like chopped up bland pot roast, however the chicken burrito was decent.

Food was amazing ! We came on a Sunday afternoon. The servers were very attentive and took care of us right away. When the food arrived, it was hot and delicious. My wife ordered the spicy chicken fajitas. It was so hot and fresh. It was awesome!. I had the steak chimichangas. They were the best I ever had! Highly recommend this place to anyone !!! Impeccable service and food! Will definitely be back for more

Hands down, BEST Mexican food in the area. The carne asada burrito and the house margarita are my favs. We have been going there for years and have introduced it to friends who now love it. Go on Saturday night when they have the Mariachi band. The staff is super nice and helpful. My husband lived in San Diego with the best Mexican food around and he loves this place.

This place is good! We came for dinner and had a really really good meal. Great Mexican beers available, nice wine selection and the food is very very good. This is a small establishment, but don’t let that fool you.
The chips and salsa they give you were really good! Had some nice heat to it. I went with the fajitas and they were awesome. They must have sizzled for a good 5 minutes after being put on the table. And a generous portion too. I had plenty left over to take home. Same goes for my wife’s salad. Well, here’s wasn’t sizzling and that’s a good thing.
Highly recommend coming here for some very good authentic Mexican food along with friendly service.

Best Mexican in CT, Hands down! I go here at least 3 times a month. The only downside is that the margaritas are a little on the weak side

I came here before a show at the Oakdale — the service was good, quick and just enough attention was given to us. They had an assortment of vegetarian options and my avocado quesadilla was delicious! The spicy sauce with the chips was good too.

I was in between a 3 and a 4 star, but I think a 3 is too harsh. The food was good. although, the people who are claiming it to be the best Mexican place leads me to believe there may not be much competition in the area. So maybe best for Wallingford but definitely not best for CT. The environment is relaxed because the bar is separated from the dining area. The staff is nice and helpful. The drinks are pretty dope. The tequila menu IS extensive! I was interested in the bar area because I heard them doing trivia as I waited for a table… then I heard the man saying «did everyone get their free shots» so I assume I know the reward of getting the trivia questions correct! Overall, the atmosphere is great for food or for drink. You can smell the food from the parking lot and it IS delicious smelling. I would definitely come back.

You know you’ve found THE Mexican restaurant when your friends who speak fluent Spanish choose to go here. When you can sit at the bar and have a conversation in Spanish with your bartender and in English with the person sitting next to you. Los Mariachis is such a place. There are two separate dining areas here, one with tables and booths and the occasional band, and another room with a huge (somewhat recently renovated) U-​shaped bar. There are lots of stools at the bar and a few high tops, plus a door that leads to a beautiful patio area with more tables.
The food here is amazing. It’s authentic and delicious, the kind of food you can only cook if you’ve been making it your whole life. I always have to bring some home because they have such generous servings.
The drinks are also to die for. I usually steer clear of mixed drinks, but their margs make me think twice.

I’ve been here a handful of times now, and it’s always great. I’ve always had fast and friendly service, and the food never disappoints. Their hot sauce that comes with the tortilla chips is amazing, but can be a scorcher if you don’t like a kick!

My BF and I went here last weekend using a Groupon he found. Service and food were great. He had the steak & chicken fajitas and I had the shrimp tacos. The black beans and rice were very good too. Nice Mexican restaurant, reasonably priced, fresh abundant toppings given, we give it 4 stars. We would come back again

Authentic, tasty, no frills mexican! Absolutely love their food. My favorite is the chicken chipotle burrito. It comes unadorned, horrible presentation, but amazing flavors.
Don’t bother with the off-​brand sodas, pretty meh. Great margaritas.

We arrived on a Thursday at approximately 6PM and made our way directly to the small bar where we were provided both the regular and happy hour menus. We each chose a coconut margarita which tasted similar to a piña colada — so good and only $ 5. Also provided were flavorless tortilla chips and two salsas, tomato and cilantro. The latter sauce was delicious while the former provided heat with little flavor.
After finishing our drinks, we adjoined to the dining room and were soon provided menus and the same chips and salsas. My wife opted for the enchiladas Mayas with chicken which were bathed in a house made sour cream sauce. The meat managed to be both dry and flavorless. I fared no better with my carnitas which were fatty, overcooked and under seasoned even though I dredged each eatable morsel through the guacamole. Our accompanying rice and beans were standard fare, but decidedly better than the entrees.
Our server was initially prompt with menus and taking our orders, but went MIA after delivering the meals. No water refills, no checking on how we were enjoying meals. Overall our experience proved to be less than acceptable thereby providing us with little incentive for a return visit.

Great Mexican food! I’ve gone to this place a bunch of times and have never been disappointed. I always get the fajita quesadillas, but my boyfriend always orders something different and has lived everything.
They make great homemade salsa and guacamole as well.
