Serenity Salon and Day Spa

This past Saturday, myself and nine others visited Serenity as part of a bachelorette party. From start to finish, we were provided with an exceptional experience. I know it can be difficult dealing with large groups but they handled it flawlessly. We were able to bring in our own food and drinks and they had us set up in our own little area in front of the fireplace which was so nice and cozy.
We each had a massage, facial, and manicure. Each service was excellent and I was very impressed with how they were able to stay on schedule so that we could be on time for the next part of the day. Jenna did a great job with my massage and I’m still feeling great, even days later. My skin is still SO soft after the facial and I will likely be purchasing some of the products that were recommended. They also went above and beyond by providing the bride with a free shampoo and blow dry so she would have fancy hair for our night out. I highly recommend this spa and salon!

The staff and massage therapist were very friendly and professional, but that was the worst massage I have ever had. I am disappointed that I wasted so much money.

I have been going to SS for a few years now. I feel that the service is going down hill. There are a lot of new stylists and I don’t feel they are getting much direction. While they did a good job on the hair color. I recently got the Worst haircut ever. I just wanted s basic bob. How can you mess that up? Also, I was in one day and they were having a birthday party for pre teens. I just have to say it was not a serine experience.

This has continued to be my go-​to salon for haircuts. I always see Jennifer and think she’s great. Even after moving 30+ minutes away I don’t see myself attempting to find a new or more convenient hair stylist.

After reading the reviews on Unilocal,I was extremely excited to book an appointment to get my hair cut at Serenity. As one review stated, it was extremely easy to book an appointment. To confirm, I was given the option of an email confirmation instead of a phone call, which I thought was nice. However, I never received an email nor phone confirmation. They also had me fill out a questionaire while I waited as another review mentioned. This questionaire did ask me a lot about my hair. However, it also asked me to write down my favorite hobbies which I thought was odd. Later, I found out that my answer to this question would be used to facilitate conversation while I was getting my hair cut…
When I was done with my haircut, I was given a bag of coupons and referral cards which made me feel like they were in great need of my future business. A few weeks later I also received a Thank You card in the mail with more referral cards and my name spelled wrong (my name is not difficult to spell). I also didn’t know which employee it was from because whoever wrote it forgot to sign their name.
Overall, my hair cut was great… exactly what I was looking for. However, I found the entire experience awkward and not relaxing. Their marketing strategies are nagging, annoying, and completely unprofessional without any attention to detail. I will not be returning to a Serenity and I really hope I don’t receive another referral card in the mail.

I’ve been going to Serenity on and off since it first opened and I always end up coming back.
Stacy has been doing my hair since before she opened Serenity and even though my style has changed many times, whether I wanted to dye the tips of my hair hot pink or chop it all off, I’ve always been happy with the end result.
I’ve recently started having my eyebrows done by Katie and she does a fantastic job too.
The overall experience for me is relaxing. I like that whoever is working at the receptionist desk always offers me water, tea, or coffee while I wait and everyone is always extremely friendly and pleasant.

The messages are great but DON“T EVER get your nails done there. My nails literally looked like my brother did them. I had paint everywhere, they «pretended» to do my cuticles but nothing was trimmed when my nails dried, and when I asked to have my nails evened out before they were painted, they all had ragged edges (not smooth at all). To top it off, the paint started coming off the next day. It was a total waste of money.

I want to love this place, but it’s mediocre at best. The staff seem young and unexperienced and no services are ever exceptional. The coloring was too dark, cut needed fixing, facial was average.

I’ve only been here once but definitely had a good experience. I went for the hair salon services, none of the spa services. It was easy to make an appointment, and when I got there I filled out a profile about my hair, what products I use, and a bit more information to help them understand me. I thought thtat was unique and put me at ease while waiting.
The lobby was cute, with nice leather chairs, magazines with organic products, and a lot to browse through as far as retail.
I liked that your hair was done downstairs, so people on the street or in the waiting room weren’t watching you. The place is nice, and I was a given a tour of the entire facility just for getting a haircut.
The price was reasonable, especially since I was given a haircut by a girl who had been with Serenity less than a year. I was assured she was qualified and would be supervised, both of which were true. A supervisor came over after the haircut to triple check everything and ask if I wanted any changes made (which I didn’t, she did a great job). Every cut made was done so with my approval, and I even received follow up phone call asking how my hair was falling days after the cut.
I have a hard time trusting a salon, but I definitely plan on going back to Serenity to see if it remains up to standard. Judging by this first encounter, it does.

I went here two years ago for a massage and other services and had a great experience. I decided to go again for a massage and facial since it’s right here in town. I probably will go back for the facial but not for a massage.
This is more like a boutique now with spa services on the side. My hot stone massage was awful. Plain and simple, worst massage ever. Her hands to start the massage were ice cold. The stones were lukewarm at best and half the time, I couldn’t feel them. She fled the room when the massage was over and didn’t offer me any water (a must after a massage). Not impressed.
My facial was great, not excellent. My aesthetician ignored my concerns about prematurely aging skin and decided to focus on the fact that my skin was oily. It really isn’t, but ok. The facial was relaxing. I added on the lip treatment which for $ 16, I could have done myself. It added nothing to the experience as my lips were still dried out when I left. My skin really doesn’t have any noticeable changes and the Dermalogica products made my skin break out.
The reception area is a boutique for overpriced Dermalogica products and for the receptionist to run around shrieking like a banshee into her telephone headset. Not relaxing at all and a very off putting vibe.
I think this place is only thriving in Wallingford due to the Choate Rosemary Hall students who come here. Most of the products are geared to teen age skin,

Beautiful salon, that not only offers styling services but also most all spa services, a great shop with gift items as well as beauty items, AND a yoga studio!
The employees are all wonderful, and the atmosphere is very friendly and inviting. The stylists are always taking new trainings to stay on top of the new trends and ideas, so you can be sure you will get a great cut/​color each and every time.
The yoga studio offers various classes, including Zumba. The spa services are reasonably priced and well worth it.
