I have two sons, 3 years and 18 months. We stick to the shallow wading areas. Pool is huge, clean, and well staffed. Lifeguards are very friendly, yet focused when on duty. Water noodles are available for borrowing too! The locker room is very bare bones, but has showers. Be careful with little ones, the floors very slippery!

Yes its a big pool… For such a big pool there could be more lap lanes and more of the pool could be open during the summer. With the need of jobs would it kill the town of Wallingford to hire a couple more guards so the whole pool can be open? Its nice to be able to visit a pool during the summer when you don’t have one and I’ll give it kudos for that. The big downfall is the crowding, things could be better evened out if only the whole pool is open to the public. When you are paying to go I think its fair for the whole pool to be open. If you’re stuck in the 80s, most times I go that’s usually the music the wlfd pool is playing near the entrance.

Four stars because having this pool is a fantastic asset to the town of Wallingford. It’s a big pool more designed for splashing than actual swimming. There’s 6 lap lanes. There’s 3 – 4 large areas for kids to splash and swim in. No big deal but depending on who is manning the lap lanes, the lap lane rules are either enforced or it’s adaptive swim time so a 4 year old with swimmies and a snorkel can become the next Michael Phelps. It’s open for a short period in the summer. I think it follows the school calendar so it doesn’t open until after school is out and then closes 2 weeks prior to school re-starting. At best, you’ll get about ten full weeks. At least once a week, you can count on an early closing thanks to a child’s fecal matter floating in the pool. However, despite the negatives I am sticking with the four stars. I’ve spent at least one day on the weekends here and it’s a great place to get exercise after work. It’s decidedly less crowded in the late afternoons on the weekdays than the weekends or prime sunshine hours on the week days.

I really enjoy the Wallingford Community Pool! At $ 15 a tag for adults(less for children and seniors) I think it’s a great bargain for the summer months. The pool is huge, a great place, with shallow water for kids, but also a lap pool for adults. They have lounge chairs for adults as well as pool toys for the kids. Wallingford residents should definitely check it out!
