I consulted with three well known orthopedic surgeons in the Sacramento area regarding my congenital hip issues.
I chose Dr. Jamali to do my two anterior hip replacements and would not have chosen another surgeon. This is a doctor with both the professional expertise as well as genuine concern for his patients to place him among the top ortho hip surgeons in Northern California.
Dr. Jamali has my confidence to the degree that I consider him the «go to» ortho
surgeon for me and my family members.
Thanks to him and his staff, I have my life back and can participate in every activity from hiking and tennis to any and all classes at the gym.

I consulted with Dr. Jamali in 2009 regarding a THR. I ultimately went with another surgeon, but was very impressed with his personable nature. Very rare in a surgeon. Friends have had work done with him, and they, as well, remarked about his surgical expertise and amiable nature. This guy is good. I wouldn’t hesitate consulting with him again.

Amazing care for his patients, very thorough and knowledgeable! Will refer all my friends and family to him for their orthopedic needs. Granny will see him next week :)

I met Dr. Amir Jamali in the ER when I crashed on my bike. He was on call (Valentine’s Day) and was very professional and caring. In the following weeks, I visited him multiple times to assess my recovery. Each visit he remember my name and why I was there (I don’t like showing up to a doctor who doesn’t remember who I am). He seemed genuinely interested in my full recovery and talked me through different options for care. I would recommend him for any athletic joint injury.
I think relative to the healthcare system as a whole, he’s about as good as they get. I just wish it was more convenient and clear as to how much I need to pay, where to go for Physical Therapy, where to get an x-​ray, etc. His assistant, Erica, was a huge help walking me through the logistics, but it still felt like I was being shipped around to different places — and therefore I felt confused most of the time. I was always wondering if I was getting the right x-​ray or going to the right PT place. I guess this is a general problem with all private practices, and Dr. Jamali (and his staff) made a serious effort to help. I appreciate all their help and have regained 100% range of motion! Can’t complain about that :)

Excellent doctor and surgeon. I needed an urgent procedure for an infection of the leg, and was able to contact Dr. Jamali and discuss the situation. He was available and very accomodating, and performed the procedure the following day, with an overall good outcome. He was thorough with the details of the procedure and plan, and followed my healing progress closely. I highly recommend him.
I would definitely choose him for myself or any of my family members for joint conditions, arthritis or sports injuries, which are his specialty.

Consulted Dr Jamali as an experienced hip preservation surgeon in the area. He performs a range of preservation procedures including hip arthroscopy and larger corrective surgeries (i.e. periacetabular osteotomies), as well as total replacements. Of note, Dr Jamali trained with some of the originators of these procedures in Switzerland. Dr Jamali is also one of the few hip arthroscopy surgeons locally to preform labrum reconstructions. Other experienced hip preservation specialists locally include Drs Michael Bellino and Nicholas Mast.
It is my understanding that Dr Jamali’s primary office is located in Sacramento, but he is expanding his practice with consultation/​surgical services in satellite shared locations in Oakland and Fremont. I was able to schedule an appointment within a few weeks time. After some phone communications with his Sacramento staff, I was mailed some forms and an x-​ray prescription, which obviated the need to obtain x-​rays at the satellite Oakland office — I don’t know if this facility has in-​office x-​ray capabilities.
Was first escorted in for a comprehensive history with Dr Jamali’s assistant before consulting him personally. Dr Jamali was professional and precise, going over my history briefly before a short clinical examination focusing on range of motion. We then went over my diagnostic imaging and he ruled out a number of potential culprits with me, offering his opinion on what type of procedure he recommended. In the weeks after, I appreciated Dr Jamali’s following up by email. Although I elected to not proceed with further treatment with him, I found his consultation helpful.
