Tragically disappointing. This place used to be great. What happened??? The pulled pork was no longer sliders, and the sandwich bread they used instead was stale. The pork itself was hard, chunky, and awful. It used to be savory, smoky and oh so soft. Not anymore! There was hardly any slaw. The burger was inedible. The bun, was it ciabatta? Was hard and stale. My husband didn’t even finish it. The fries were soggy, the dessert was cold. The pear somethingor other sounded good, but pastry served straight from the fridge without being crisped was sadly slimy. We took our friends and were embarrassed by the quality and expense. Over $ 220 for 2 families with little kids for dinner for substandard food. It explains why the place was empty. We used to love coming here but it’s now terrible and gone downhill. Which reminds me, that the café also used to be great, with excellent salads. Now everything is prepackaged in these terrible plastic boxes. It used to be so inviting, now we hate the grab and go feel. So cheap!

I often visit the hotel for their restaurant. The food has always been really good and I’ve always received excellent customer service. Here is what I would recommend: Breakfast– buffet(so many options and very reasonably priced, they even have an omelet station) Lunch– I really enjoy the fish tacos, not too spicy and they will leave you happy and full Dinner– my favorite for dinner is the Pub Steak. I usually don’t order steak because I can never finish it but it comes pre sliced on a crostini with a delicious light salad. The service has always been great, however my favorite server is Mike. He is always attentive, happy, and shows he really cares about my dining experience. 10⁄10 would recommend.

Ordered half-chicken, but the fowl was under cooked. There was still blood inside when I cut it with the knife; had to send it back, hoping that the cooks redeem themselves. Nah. Slightly better than the first, but still not how a chicken should be cooked and served. Don’t they realize that a chicken should be cooked all the way? This restaurant appears to experiment with food, none of which is really great. They are just fancy-named and pricey! Chicken on top of a bed of green stuff or soupy looking you know what — $ 20!!! Appetizer of three very tiny fish tacos — $ 11! Common now. Service — waiters and waitresses — has deteriorated compared to the service in 2012 when I stayed in this hotel for six months. Sometimes servers just ignore the customer and other times they are not even around.

I’ve just got to add; last night I grabbed takeout, the«healthy» steak and kale frites, and the steak was fine, but the FRITES changed my life. I like baked kale, but how they seasoned and cooked this kale.. .I could go back and order a barrel of that stuff and be happy for the rest of my life. I crave it now. I could eat it all day every day. If you haven’t tried that healthy-steak and kale, go order it. Service still awesome, people still nice.

Had some fun fish tacos for lunch today w a nice local beer called Buzzerkeley made from a guy named Blaine in San Ramon. Delish! Love it w a squeeze of orange. Has a nice champagne sparkling note to it. The fish was mostly beer batter, but tasty none the less. Served on a bed of coleslaw, 3 tiny corn tortillas, a red salsa and cotia cheese. The atmosphere is delightful looking out to the pool and sitting outside. Nice outdoor comfy furniture and music. Service was great. I will be back

I often get the chicken Ceasar Salad after my evening workout… its one of the better Ceasar salads I’ve had. Service is good ! If it is a nice evening you can sit outside and enjoy the night and have dinner.

Mothers Day Brunch: If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. Everything from the hostess to the food to the service was sub-standard. I am a member of the gym here and have spent a lot of time and money at this restaurant, just hoping that the experience would be better. But, every time, I am angered by the lack of professionalism by the staff and the lack of quality of the food. There is too much to mention but just to mention a few things: 1. When calling for reservation changes on 3 occasions, there is no one to answer in the restaurant. When we arrived the hostess said they didn’t have our reservation when they were fully booked. When she left the hostess stand we found our reservation on her sheet after her effortless attempt. 2. No waiter/waitress to take our drink order or tell us what to do. Finally after 30 minutes he took our drink order and I had to ask him if we just go to the buffet on our own. 3. We had to ask the buser to take our dishes away. Our waiter was stuck at the bar because they were completely understaffed. 4. My sister got a bad oyster. The food was horrible. Prime rib tough. Food not replenished. Cheeses looked like they were sitting for a long while. Food very low quality and menu unexciting. 5. No one ‘served’ us. We had to flag people down to help us or take our orders. 6. There was a pool crowd that was half dressed waiting in a line that was so long that it went through the buffet area. I honestly can’t believe this restaurant gets good reviews. I have had good dishes here but everything else is such poor quality that it outweighs the good things. I’m really tired of these suburban restaurants getting away with being awful. I really feel that because there aren’t very good options compared to the city that they can be horrible. I love the gym, love the hotel but the restaurant has to shape up before I return or recommend it to anyone.

We stayed at the hotel for a staycation. We lounged around all day at the pool and decided to eat dinner at the hotel instead of going out. The restaurant was well decorated and service was friendly. We decided on the pulled pork sliders, fish tacos, and Mac/Cheese with bacon! There was a musician playing which was a nice touch. Overall we had a nice time and the food was good!

Their appetizers/tapas/small plates are a great option for either sharing or eating alone as they are typically largely portioned. My faves are the fish tacos and the lettuce wraps. I’m pretty much full off both. The sea bass was ok albeit a bit salty for me(picture attached) but the presentation was nice to look at. Their chicken caesar salad dinner portions are like enough to feed a family of 4 so consider yourself forewarned. The food quality is decent enough and healthy. Service can be a bit slow and the ambiance is meh. It really is just a hotel lobby with a restaurant off to the side. Outside seating is nice on sunny days as it overlooks the soon to be removable bocce ball courts/event space. Construction is almost complete last I checked. Oh & My absolute fave dinner is CJ’s Bistro Steak so yum!

I’m a renaissance club sport member so I eat here often. Whether I grab a smoothie from the lunch counter, a snack by the pool or meet family for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The menu is very basic and changes seasonally. The best part about eating here is they offer many healthy choices. Many low calorie organic foods and vegetables. Tonight I had the Mahi Mahi with curry braised Brussel sprouts and Israeli couscous. I would give this dish 5 stars all the way. Loved it! The service is mostly suspect. It seems like the hotel and gym are the main focus and the restaurant is third in the pecking order.

If you are a fitness freak and count on every calorie intake then this restaurant is the right place to be. They have a good variety of heart healthy options on the menu and can also customize for you if you are there at a slow time of the day. The breakfast buffet spread is pretty good but if you have been their often then it kind of becomes tiring because there is not much change in the menu than your visit before. They should keep changing and adding new dishes to keep a regular customer interested. But yes for the initial few visits it’s highly recommended as they have a good Nouveau California cuisine. They serve three meals of the day. I always enjoy the salad spread and sausages. They also have some good veggie options for vegetarians which is a plus thing. The kitchen and the bar are contemporary and very stylish. They have some very good signature cocktails and appetizers. I usual order some fish tacos with my drinks really love them. They have free valet parking too if you dine in the restaurant which saves you some money. I go with 4 star out of 5 for this place.

I was looking for a place to have dinner with some friends. The review from Marriott saying their food was as good or better than any in Walnut Creek sure turned me off. Do your self promotion on somebody else’s time. Unilocal is for people to share genuine experiences, not to read some bogus review. No, this is not a review of your food or service. It is of your blatant misuse of Unilocal

The breakfast is awesome… and Alex will make whatever you want… however 4 stars due to the sometimes slow service by the wait staff who disappear for large blocks of minutes at a time.

Salty and a lot of mess ups in the order. Would have been better with less salt and better service. Ambience is ok though.

The food is good but the service needs to be revamped. Its not that the servers are not nice, they are friendly… Its that no matter what time of day you come or how many people are in the restaurant… ITWILLTAKEFOREVER to get your food. The last time I was there, only one other person was in the restaurant AND I ordered the Tuna(which is RAW) and it took 45 minutes. Again, the food is good and the people are nice, but make sure you don’t have to be anywhere after cause I have been there a ton of times(being a member of the gym) and they have never been«quick». Food = 4 Stars, Service = 2 Stars.

I don’t think C-Blue is a destination restaurant, meaning, you wouldn’t specifically come here, unless you were looking for a Sunday brunch, or one of their special events perhaps. If you’re staying at the hotel, the food here is as good as anything you’ll find in Walnut Creek downtown, without searching for the Unilocal gems of course. If you’re a member of the Renaissance health club, it’s a nice place to grab a quick lunch or sometimes even dinner. Club members with family memberships get free childcare, so since our babysitter left town, it’s been our fallback plan for a way to have a quiet dinner together. They have some great specials, like discounted happy hour menus(food and drink), Taco Tuesdays, etc. Another nice thing — if you’re trying to eat healthy, they have more options than most restaurants, including clear ingredient and calorie information, and some dishes recommended/designed by the club’s personal trainers.

Met some friends there to have a drink and listen to some jazz guitar at about 7:00PM on a Friday night. It was one of the most bizarre and unpleasant restaurant experiences in my life. What is this place, a day care center? It was overrun by dozens of small children with their new age ‘mustn’t say no to junior or I’ll damage his self esteem’ non-parenting parents. I mean this is a bar right? Why is it full of kids? I am a father myself so don’t think I am anti-children but I never used a bar as a substitute for a playground. Perhaps this night was an aberration but I will never know as no power in the universe could drag me back to that nightmare ever again. Oh, by the way, food was over priced and bland, service and drinks were good.

Most health clubs I’ve been to have pretty nasty food. In an effort to be «healthy», dishes offered end up being bland, dry and just generally styrofoam-like. At C-Blue, all of these generalities about gym food definitely do not hold true. From salads & appetizers to entrees, nothing is teeming with grease but overall flavor remarkably is quite tasty. Every time I’ve eaten here for a post-workout meal, the service was also excellent. The biggest bonus is that there is 20% off for Renaissance ClubSport gym members… Score!

I had lunch, dinner, and appetizers here last week when I had some meetings at the hotel. The food is quite good and there are some excellent healthy options. The chinese chicken salad was awesome, as were the flatbreads. The one with the garlic shrimp(Pilates, I believe) was very tasty, but I would pass on the one with brie and pears. On the less healty side was the fried calamari… MMMMMM so good! The chicken sate was average and kind of dry. Service here can be kind of spotty. One time we had a really great waiter, then we returned for dinner and a different waiter totally ignored us and even though we were all sitting around twiddling our thumbs, it took him a while to realize that we were ready to order. I’d come back to eat here if I was at the hotel, but I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to come here just to eat. On the plus side, they validate parking so you don’t need to pay like $ 18.

I can’t speak for the experiences of the two folks before me, but I’ve eaten at C-Blue regularly. It is easily one of the best restaurants in Walnut Creek. It’s upscale, Asian Fusion, meaning it is American comfort food with a sophisticated Asian influence. The décor and the atmosphere screams hip, New York bistro. It has a full bar and an outdoor seating patio. The food are very reasonably priced and menus are quite varied. They have pulled pork sliders. That is to say Hawaiian styled barbecue pork on soft buns, delicious. Their Halibut dish is made with a mild ginger — soy sauce, thick and succulent. Real gourmet quality in an upscale atmosphere. Their Sunday brunch is opulent includes champagne and is again one of the nicest spreads in WC. $ 18 for adults and $ 12 for kids. The prices are reasonable considering the ambience, service and quality of the food. Actually despite the reviewer before me, the price are very reasonable for those not on a student budget. These are NOT I-Hop prices but neither are they the prices you’d be paying at another equivalent restaurant in WC Va di Vis(another of my favorites). This restaurant ususally is not crowded because no one knows about it. It’s tucked away off the lobby of the Renaissance Hotel on Treat Blvd(near the freeway entrance) and there’s no signage outside. So only hotel guests or the nearby health club people know about this litte gem. This place has also an opulent daily breakfast buffet. It’s a place that can be dressy or casual, however, dressy is better. Park with the Valet at the hotel and the restaurant picks up that tab(there’s also a self park option). Great place for a date or a biz meeting.
