The service here is hit or miss but the sushi is always delicious! They use organic vegetables whenever available and sustainable fish. Their bento boxes are big enough to share and fish is always super fresh. This is one of my favorite spots in the area!

Found this place from a coupon I got in the mail. Went here with my mom and loved how much sushi rolls they had to choose for. I’m talking pages. The service is always fast and I’ve been here multiple times for dinner and had no complaints. I love the lobster and red dragon rolls.

Lunch special for $ 9.95 includes miso soup, salad, edamame, rice(brown if requested) and two items. A lot of high quality food for a good price. Recommended for lunch time. Fast and very friendly staff. A+

Ordered take out sushi and sashimi and roll under number 26 and it was delicious. With sushi and sashimi there was also salad and miso soup and nigiri so the price was great-$ 16.

Now that Isaac is no longer there, we see no draw to return. He was always the friendly face our family enjoyed visiting with when we came in. Our last couple visits, the sushi chef varied, and the quality was definitely not the same. It became pretty apparent that without Isaac’s presence, this was just another«meh» sushi place. Go across the parking lot and eat Thai food. You’ll be very happy you did!

The quality and consistency of the fish and the beef has been declining the last few times we have been in. This used to be our go-to place but we are none reevaluating other options. Hopefully their teriyaki been and sashimi will improve to previous!

Really disappointed to find that our favorite co-owner and server at Kana is no longer there. When we initially visited the restaurant back in August of 2013, Isaac was a friendly host and I’ve commented that he was the reason that Kana brings back a lot of return customers including us. I’m not quite sure that we will be returning back on a regular basis since Isaac’s departure.

Okay… I will overlook the fact that our waitress not once checked up on us after taking our order because my daughter said her dinner was one of the best thing she has ever eaten. Our waitress kept stepping outside to her minivan that was parked out front to check on I guess her son. When she was not outside by her minivan, she was sitting at one of the tables inside on her phone texting or something. The deluxe bento box came with tons of food… miso soup, salad, edamame, japchae, rice, tempura, salmon teriyaki, and 6 pcs of avocado roll. We also had the tofu teriyaki which was also very tasty and flavorful. I will try some of their delicious sounding rolls the next time I am there. The seat cushions that were on the booths were dirty and tacky. I would have rather sat on the hard wood surface. Nice atmosphere, easy parking, and good food. Hopefully, the wait staff will be more attentive next time.

Service was pretty slow when it was time for the check, and I think our order got messed up(we ordered the Hawaiian roll but got something else instead that definitely did not have mango sauce or macadamia nuts in it). The good news is that the food was delicious and a pretty good value. I also appreciated that the sodas appeared to be fountain drinks so the pour was quite large. I hate it when restaurants just open a can of diet pepsi and charge you $ 3 for it with no free refills. The décor here is pretty blah, with ratty old single seat cushions in the booths, but overall I would come back here again.

Disappointed… Wasn’t busy at all and it still took 15 Minutes to get 3 drinks(2 waters and an iced tea) then took 5 minutes to get spoons for our soup, finally got our meal and the seaweed on our rolls was so fishy and smelled horrible, the only waitress kept sitting down and chatting with what looked like family and would totally forget about the other paying customers… we were over charged… Will not be back

Cute little spot with a great selection of sushi rolls! Our favorite was the hot night roll which was spicy but also super flavorful. The veggie tempura was a great appetizer. My husband ordered a couple of selections from the nigiri menu and enjoyed them too. They also have a wide selection of bento/teriyaki which sounded great. Kirin on draft was a steal at 2.95 per 16 oz glass!

My family and I went here for dinner and we were all very pleased with our meals. We first ordered Deluxe bento meal with beef. The meat was very tender and juicy and came with a ton of sides(salad, tempura, California roll, choice of nigiri, edamame, rice, noodles, and miso soup), so it was very filling but everything was delicious. The rolls we ordered were the spicy tuna and the rainbow roll, the fish was very fresh and it all came together very nicely. The only downside is they only had one waiter(who was also the host) so it took a little more time than it should have. If a customer was in a rush to go it would have been a problem. But overall it was a delicious sushi experience!

This is my favorite sushi restaurant in Walnut Creek thus far. My husband and I eat here fairly often, and the sushi is always fresh and delicious. He sometimes orders a bento box, and there are a ton of choices for that and all of it is tasty. The prices are also pretty decent, though my threshold for buying sushi is pretty high(favorite food in the world!). TL;DR I would highly recommend eating here.

The sushi chefs work extra hard! Sushi is is C+ to B– sushi chef had a cold kept coughing. Sat in bar area and cushions need cleaning. So slammed they brought us a check before done. Even worse the stl I’ve billed

The interior of Kana Sushi has a nice minimalist appeal. There isn’t much decoration and I found the black and gray color combo very relaxing. The restaurant was almost empty when I had lunch here. The lunch bento box for $ 9.95 sounded like a good deal. It comes with organic miso soup, organic salad, steamed rice, organic edamame and your choice two other items. I had tonkatsu and the gyoza. I don’t particularly like edamamem, so, I told them to not give me any. I also had an order of hamachi sushi. I enjoyed the soup. The tonkatsu was really good. The fried pork cutlet was not overcooked it was a treat. I am use to gyoza that is slightly browned, the 6 that came in the box tasted as though they were steamed. Perhaps a popular and healthy choice, but not the way I like them. The sushi was very fresh. The menu has a lot of interesting rolls. If organic food is important to you, the Kana mission statement does stress that they use organic products. If I am in the neighborhood I might stop in again; the tonkatsu was great.

My girlfriend and I tried this place for the first time last night, and we think it’s great! The portions are filling, the pricing is fair, and staff is friendly. All of these factors lead me to give this place 5 stars. We had their beef Bento Box and a couple of California rolls along with a 49er roll. All the food was amazing and well portioned. It’s a great value! As a side note, I saw on their menu that they have a mission statement regarding their dedication to quality ingredients. I thought that this was really great because they take into account that certain people(pregnant women and children) sometimes can’t eat sushi due to the unnatural ingredients, and they strive to make their food safe by only using all natural ingredients. As a customer, I really liked this.

Came here for lunch and ordered two rolls: Boston and Hurricane. SO delicious. My tastebuds are extremely satisfied. The combination of fried oysters with fresh salmon on the boston & the unagi on the hurricane was just like an explosion in my mouth. These special rolls were also only 12.95ea. If I were to compare that price to other sushi places where specialty rolls reach to $ 15, that’s relatively cheap. The gyoza appetizer was airy and light. Felt good to eat. And the sashimi appetizer was yummy too. I hope to come back when they have more of a selction for the nigiri as there was no uni this season!

Fresh quality authentic sashimi & nigiri. Having had the sashimi at the pinnacle Tokyo fish market. This place is not too shabby at all. Been back 3 times this weeks already. If you like fresh nigiri try their nigiri mix set. Only $ 17 for 10 piece, what a bargain for the excellent quality. Honestly feel so lucky there is a place like this in the middle of suburb. Haven’t had decent sushi for 2 years while I lived in SF. Come support this family own honest establishment.

Decent food. Good service. I unassumingly came here on a whim; which turned out to be a great surprise. Kana is tucked within a tiny shopping center located in south w. c, and just walking distance from Whole Foods. I like how this place is somewhat more segregated, providing a more quiet, secluded dining experience; that is in comparison to the bustling crowds infesting the restaurants of d. t w.c.; and it was perfect for me this particular afternoon hence, I was in one of my more introverted moods. I was warmly welcomed and seated at a nice, yet again, secluded booth by the window. Their menu’s are presented slightly different compared to most sushi houses(at least to me) however, I managed to peruse it enough to understand. I inquired on several of the different sushi rolls, and with the guidance of my friendly server, I decided upon a sushi roll called«The hot night» perhaps in correlation to the«Hot» day it was outside. And it also sounded sinfully delicious– Shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber topped with spicy tuna, crunch flake, special sauce(10.95) I also accommodated this roll with a small sake and an order of their house salad. My one complaint was how expensive the house salad was-$ 3.95…really? I would not had ordered it had I know it was that much. Salad was decent in size, appeared fresh, and was tasteful. Sake was ok. As for my sushi roll? It arrived delectably delicious looking; and it turned out just so. All the components that made up the roll– the crispness of the tempura, the softness of the avocado, along with the crunch flakes drizzled in the creamy spicy sauce, all created the perfect balance, leading into a tasteful explosion of wonderfulness… needless to say I downed the whole darn thing. Service throughout my visit, was also quite endearing and accommodating. So, if I’m in the area again craving sushi, I will certainly visit again.
