My wife and I eat a lot of ramen and since we were in the area and it had good reviews, we stopped by. Everything was fine until the soup’s in front of us. I take a bite and immediately taste something funky — a slightly foul flavor that’s never been in any ramen I’ve ever come across. I can’t quite place it, maybe something from a gym, and then I look across the table at my wife who has my same quizzical look, «Does yours taste like sweaty old gym socks,» she asks. YES! That’s exactly what it is! And it’s terrible. I had the Tantanmen and she the Shio, and the funky flavor was unmistakably present in both. Maybe it was an odd night, or maybe they age their pork belly to a state of putrefaction. Whatever the case, not sure why others haven’t tasted this and flamed the place with bad reviews.

Ordered the Shoyu Ramen. It looked better than it tasted. It was personally too salty for me but still the warm broth was good to warm up on a chilly day. The taste explosion was in the chicken karage that gets served on the side for free with the ramen. I’ve eaten it before in other restaurants and always seemed bland. So I was looking for a tonkatsu sauce to dip it in but after the first bite I realized it was PERFECT as is. Really delicious!

Tonkasu ramen is not as good as expected, the soup is not as thick as Santouka Ramen or Men’O in LA. Not recommend. Only the octopus ball taste good.

I had the Yakoyaki and Tonkatsu and both were delicious. If I could give 4.5 out of 5 I would. I came at 5:30pm on Monday night, and the tables were full but there was room at the bar. Service was nice and friendly, and the food arrived very quickly. The Takoyaki(Octopus balls) were nice and soft and creamy, and had a great savory/sweet flavor. I would definitely order it again. The Tonkatsu was also very good. The broth had a deep, rich flavor without being too salty. The pork(2 large pieces) was very flavorful, with just the right amount of fat on it. Only(very minor) complaints were that the egg was cooked a little more than I’d like, and it was also cold. I’ll definitely come back to try the other dishes

We had an excellent ramen lunch in Walnut Creek of all places! Ramen Hiroshi is a tiny ramen joint with an open kitchen on Bonanza St. Lunch time requires a sign-up sheet but the queue moves quickly. I would rank Hiroshi up there with Ramen Dojo in San Mateo for overall food quality — plus its much closer! The Takoyaki(like a fried cream puff with octopus) and Chicken Karaage were crispy and hot, straight out of the fryer. The chicken pieces were large, yet the meat was still moist underneath the crispy hot breading. The Takoyaki is a bit of an acquired taste, but I like it! For the main course, we both got Hiroshi Tonkatsu Ramen, prepared Hakata style. This means the noodles are thinner and there’s the addition of pickled red ginger. Broth was rich and sweet, noodles chewy, and pork belly juicy. Definitely one of the better ramen places I’ve had in the Bay Area.

I’ve been here twice. The days I’ve gone the wait hasn’t been too bad, maybe 20 minutes, tops. I’ve tried their Tonkatsu Ramen and Tantanmen Ramen. I didn’t like the Tantanmen Ramen at all. Yes, they do warn you that it’s much creamier than regular broth. I didn’t know what to expect with the texture though. Yes, it’s creamier, but also thicker and it almost tastes as though peanut butter was used as a thickening agent; I tasted PB somewhere in there, but I may be wrong. Also, they describe the soup as spicy, but it really isn’t spicy at all. Their Karage is to die for. Deliciously crispy, with the chicken ever so juicy. The seasoning is perfect. Mmmmm, I’m craving this place as I write/describe/imagine the food. Overall, I like this place enough to keep coming back to try the other non-creamy broths.

Honestly the best ramen spot in the entire WC/CONCORD/PHILL area. I discovered this place about 2 months ago and it’s quickly become comfort food to me. As a regular customer, I come in just about every week to have a bowl of the Hiroshi Tonkotsu Ramen(absolute favorite) along with an order of their Takoyaki. The ramen is packed with flavor and I get full from that alone — but whenever I come with someone else the Takoyaki is a must-have if you like octopus! The staff members are very friendly and the service is quick! Though the restaurant is small, the energy from the staff and customers makes it a comfortable place to be. I highly recommend coming in right when they open for dinner time — ESPECIALLY on weekends. It gets packed. Satisfy your craving, EATATRAMENHIROSHI.

Obsessed with this place! Service is always amazing, the girls who work there are super friendly and love to have a good conversation, which I always appreciate. Ramen is also delish. I got the miso ramen with extra corn and green onion and it was amazing! Portion size is right, price is right, ambiance is perfection. Love the hole in the wall feel, reminds me of the shops in Japan. Chicken karaage is also so good! Best I’ve had in a while. Will be coming back for suresies. If you want a good seat, make sure to come early! For dinner the line piles up, there’s only about 10 tables in there(counting the bar).

Eh, this place seems popular, but I didn’t really like the ramen here. My friend got the tan tan ramen, and it was too creamy for us. I know it said creamy but it wasn’t that great. I got the tonkatsu ramen, which wasn’t bad. I like the noodles in the tan tan ramen more. However, I found mine ramen to be really salty for some reason. The pork belly was nice and charred, it was tasty. Everything was just really salty. It wasn’t really to my liking. It’s always great to have ramen on a cold, rainy day especially since it’s been raining so much! However, this place did not satisfy my craving for good ramen. Parking is on the street.

Yum! Came in at 5pm on a Wednesday and it was already almost full, and it’s small, so beware! The edamame was really good. The Tonkatsu ramen was also very nice but also very fatty. So full of flavor, but so rich I couldn’t finish. The egg was perfect. The noodles were probably the least good part. Nothing wrong with them, they just weren’t remarkable. A little pricy for ramen, but considering came away full, it’s all good.

What better place to come then Ramen Hiroshi during this time of the year! It is cold outside and we are finally getting rain! Perfect weather for ramen! Parking: Street parking, which you have to pay unless it is after 8pm. Or you can go to the parking structure down the road. The first hour is free! Wait time: They do get busy. Might want to drive by to see if there are people waiting outside for a table. If not, there is a waitlist sign up sheet inside. Food: Tantanmen is the way to go! Overall, a great place to get ramen in Walnut Creek! I will be back for sure!

Fiancé and I both had a long day so we decided to make it easy on ourselves and hit up Ramen Hiroshi again. Anyways the experience today was as a good as before, but better: they correctly handled a complaint that we had with their spicy chicken wing dish. This time I decided to try a different ramen. I got the chicken broth-based ramen with chashu pork(whose menu name escapes me). The fiancé was not in a ramen mood, so she got an assortment of appetizers. They do have great appetizers! She got takoyaki, squid, and instead of our usual chicken karaage order, she got spicy wings. Again, the menu names escape me mostly because I didn’t write them down. Anyways the chicken broth-based ramen was really great. I was really impressed at how clean the broth was. Not oily texture, globules of chicken fat, broth scum, etc. Very clean and consistent with all of their other broth. The chashu was great as usual. I’m considering ordering this as my go-to ramen going forward. Now onto the spicy wings: salty beyond believe. Fiancé took one bite and nudged me to try it. I took a bite. Wow. It was so salty even I couldn’t eat it. We asked the waitress to make us a new order. She obliged, no problem. However it did take way too long and we requested to cancel it as it hadn’t been cooked in a proper time. She didn’t give us «that look» and cheerfully said no problem. EXCELLENTCUSTOMERSERVICE. I wish I could give 10 stars for our experience today.

Same stars for 2nd visit. Took my hubby here and he enjoyed it. He ordered the Tantanmen and I tried their Shio. Good portion and amount of ingredients in the bowl. Tantanmen is for those who love spice. My husband said the Shio broth had no flavor, but I enjoyed it. It wasn’t bland but just needed some spice. Nothing a spoonful of something from their spice rack can’t fix. Although the lunch portion you do get a a little bit of shredded salad and 2 pieces of Karaage. It left us hanging cuz that Karaage was yummy. I had already planned on ordering that but after reading the reviews I learned that their apps aren’t served during lunch on weekdays. I think that would have made our meal a lot better if we had those yummy crunchy goodness to bite into as we took a sip of our ramen. That good crunch. The lady server was very nice.

Not the best ramen I’ve had, but it is pretty good! I personally wasn’t a fan of the Hakata style noodles, but try it for yourself. The place is crowded, so sometimes it’s hard to find a table, but if you’re willing to wait, it’s pretty good. Price is not bad either. Parking is a little annoying though.

3.5 stars. We came here on a rainy Sunday, and we had a pretty good meal. It’s a small place, so during prime lunch and dinner times, expect a bit of a wait. There’s one small bathroom in the back, so again, expect a wait. Both my husband and I had the Tonkatsu Ramen, and it was pretty good. Not the best bowl of ramen I’ve had, BUT it was the best bowl I’ve had in East Bay so far. The soup was good, as was the noodles and all the stuff inside. We also tried their karage chicken, which I thought was pretty good, and I’d order it again. We’ll be back — maybe not every week, but I do expect to return for my ramen fix.

I’d suggest the Tonkatsu Ramen here. I prefer the regular noodles instead of Hakata style, so you can ask them to cook it with the regular noodles! If you like it spicy, add the spicy paste that have at your table! The spicy paste is really good and adds great flavor to the broth. The Tantanmen was disappointing. The soup was not spicy at all, and there was barely any ground pork in there. All of the ground pork just got lost at the bottom somewhere. It also comes with chili sticks, which I hate! I don’t know why some ramen places are adding these chili sticks, but they add no flavor and the texture doesn’t work at all for ramen.

We showed up around 6:45PM on a Sunday evening and there were quite a few people waiting for a table so we were hopeful that the place has to be pretty good. After waiting for an hour, we were super excited to get our ramen fix since we’ve been having withdrawals since our trip to Vegas in November. The takoyaki balls were pretty good in flavor, but you can hardly find any octopus in there. My son actually commented, «I didn’t even know there was supposed to be anything in there.» The chicken karaage was ok. Nothing special, just deep-fried lightly breaded chicken with a side of mayo-like dipping sauce. I ordered the hiroshi tonkotsu ramen and the flavor was very simple. It didn’t have any depth, just salt and pork. The noodles were a little too thin for my liking. My son had the miso ramen and he said that he didn’t enjoy his broth either. Although, his noodles were thicker than mine so he said he would consider ordering the thicker noodles in the hiroshi broth if we ever decide to come back. I must admit that it’s not easy to find a decent ramen spot within the 20-mile radius of where we are so we may end up coming back should we feel too lazy to drive out of our way for ramen. Although, I must say that service is good here! The servers are attentive and they are good at refilling your water.

We were thwarted as one of the restaurants we wanted to try out didn’t exist, so we went with plan B. Ramen Hiroshi is a small ramen restaurant. It was really nice to hear real Japanese spoken. I also appreciated the free karaage which was superb! The ramen menu is small but extensive enough. I wasn’t completely blown away by the ramen. It had a good soup base, but the noodles fell a bit flat for me. Then again I think I was completely spoiled by ramen in Japan so it’s a bit hard to get them here after experiencing the real thing. But for a Japanese run ramen place, it’s not too shabby. Parking can be difficult on the street, but there are nearby garages where it’s $ 0.50 per hour with the first hour free. So don’t be a cheapskate!

EVENT: It was raining and it’s pouring… and I need a hot bowl of delish ramen! Where do I go? Ramen Hiroshi! My new favorite place! SERVICE: everyone there — servers and cooks… are amazing! They are so, so friendly! 5 stars! FOOD: (1) Tonkatsu — my favorite! Two pieces of fatty pork, mushrooms, bamboos, green onions… EGG… the noodles… omg… amazing! The broth is to die for! The favors are mouth watering! Just writing this review… I am craving for some ramen! Maybe I’ll go back tonight *hehe* 5 stars (2) Hot chicken wings: kinda-crispy wings drenched in spicy, sweet sauce and tons of sesame seeds! (3) CHICKENKARAAGE! TONS of chicken… put some lemon on it … dip it in sauce… *drools* DRINKS: BEERRRR!!! (*) Sopporo & Asahim $ 4 each bottle! They do not have the bigger bottles. Just a note, sometimes it doesn’t come cold enough… they probably just recently restocked the fridge. But, nothing to be disappointed about — they were kind enough to give me ice and next time I’ll just make sure I’ll ask for the cold one. *hehe* OVERALL: Must get… TONKATSURAMEN&CHICKENKARAAGE… 5 stars!
