It was on the way to the Pats game so we figured why not. The service was great, the waitress was very attentive to us. The food was bad, we both ordered the chowder, while it did have plenty of clams much to my surprise it was lukewarm. We ordered the onions rings, they were still raw and there was no flavor on the breading. The sauce they gave us for them was really good. That was so disappointing. We ordered lunch I had the haddock sandwich and the hubby ordered a burger. My haddock sandwich was ok, the breading fell off and again the breading had no flavor. The sandwich was served with a piece of cheese on it, not even melted cheese. The burger had no flavor, the fries were good though.

A little confused by the rest of the reviews. Came this afternoon with my husband and 3 year old and we were very glad to have stopped. We were seated right away and the atmosphere was comfortable. The dining room was a little more than half full and no issues with noise. Ordered right away with our fabulous waitress Susan who had treated my child like her own. Service and food were amazing. Will definitely be back.

Meh. Service leaves a lot to be desired. Food is ok but I’ve had better. I heard this place used to be great, but it’s clearly gone down hill. It’s too bad because it’s really convenient and ideal for pre or post Pats games.

Saturday before the concert my boyfriend and i stopped here to eat. I liked the interior if the place– an addition was made awhile back to accommodate more than the inital small bar and ¾ tables.(Yet they didn’t add space to the bathroom?!? Why??) Just locals at the bar but our server/bar tender was super nice and friendly– good food(perfect fries) A better place to eat vs the stadium– cheeper and no lines!!!

It’s ok. Not great but ok. Had fried clam plate and they were ok. Our waitress was pleasent. Market price on fried clam plate was very pricey($ 24.99). Two star dining/five star prices. Locals love this place. I probably won’t return.

First off, the place is loud. Just having a conversation over dinner took effort. The kid a few tables away didn’t help with her crying and shrieking. Don’t normally mind kids but that one was worse than nails on a chalk board. Then she started to stomp on the floor which traveled the length of the floor. Two different people approached the family politely and were told to mind their own business. On the bright side it made my parents reflect back on how well behaved I was when I was a kid. I’m sure plenty other families there were having the same thoughts. As for the food, the steak tips were good cuts of meat and perfectly cooked. They were lacking flavor though. The scallops were huge and very good. The onion rings tasted like batter without onions. They were disappointing. They don’t serve Guinness which just can’t be justified. The drinks came to us chilled. Not even close to cold.

Known for great pizza, 12″, homemade crust, 50 year recipe. Also known for good fried seafood. Place is iconic. No ambiance, diner. Be prepared for families in the dining room. Tiny bar with locals. Depends on what you want.

Not as good as they used to be!!! We went there for lunch and had lobster roll and fried whole clam plate, with onion rings. Absolutely tasteless clams and onion rings. And the sweet potato fries were the same. Me thinks it had to do with what they all were cooked in. No comparison with years past and so many other places that will get out business next time. Lobster roll saved the day it was OK.

This place doesn’t look much from the outside but it’s the inside that counts. The fried seafood platter is huge and very good and can feed multiple people. The restaurant is always busy on the weekends so there usually is a wait.

I remember waiting in line on the ramp in the entrance to get in here as a kid. I always loved going here. I moved away, but we were in the area and decided to stop in. I like seafood, mom in law likes seafood, hubby likes pizza hoping for a win-win. I hate going somewhere that you haven’t been in years and find it is nothing like you remember especially with people who have never been and you say it’s good. Not so here! The clam strips are still great. Hubby had chowder and clam strips too which was a surprise and he loved them too, as did the mom in law. Hey it’s a diner! Even says it in the name. It is very casual dining so don’t go in thinking it’s fine dining. Pizza, beer and seafood.

Love people … it’s usually the NYers … who go to a diner that has been around for decades and try to judge it like they were reviewing Morton’s, Emeril’s or Shula’s or the like! Hey … it’s a DINER! And a damned good one! A bit old. A bit run down. Bar a bit stinky like an old bar should be. Nice cross section of offerings. Some regulars, some transients! Prices? A tad high but it is on US Route 1 half way between Boston and Providence and it is just down the street from Gillette Stadium. If it was in downtown Walpole I would say overpriced but given it’s highway location, I would say priced for the location! Good old diner. We need more of ‘em!

It was a Friday at noon, I sat at the bar top. The bartender’s name was George. The bar side is small, the do have a dinning room also. I had a cup of the fish chowder, it was excellent. For lunch I had the pastrami Rachel, it was ok. I have heard from numerous people that there pizza is excellent. Also they are known for their fried seafood. The bar has a «diner car» feel to it. I liked it very cozy. Service was great. In my opinion, authentic New England

I worked in Foxboro many years ago and this was the place to go. I was in the area and couldn’t wait to get the fried clams. I was looking for the heaping plate full of clams of yesteryear. Unfortunately, even though they were good, they were not as good as I remembered. I know times have changed, but I was disappointed. I use to love this place but I’ll hang onto my memories.

Not as good as it used to be… portions are smaller and clams are also smaller. I got a sirloin steak and 1⁄3 of it was gristle. Won’t be back for a long time. We were anticipating the Red Wing of the old days… not!!! People who aren’t used to good seafood may think it’s really good, but we’ve been spoiled by some of our favorite haunts.

Went Sunday which I guess was not the right day for a first-timer. Lots of families with kids, and what looked like a school team. Very noisy in dining room. I got a clam/scallop combo for $ 28.00 and the few clams that were there, were tough, and I couldn’t eat them. Scallops were OK. Fries tasted like the standard frozen variety. I saw really good looking pizza going by, and the steak tip dinner was priced at $ 12.99 so I would definitely try other dishes, just not seafood.(I did see the jumbo seafood platter and there was plenty for 2 people, if that’s what you’re looking for.) The place didn’t have a friendly vibe to me. I was by myself and when I went into the bar part, I felt like I was being glared at for even thinking of taking a seat a the bar.

Best pizza, anti pasto, clams, scallops, beer, food. Good atmosphere a little rundown, but it’s been there forever what would you expect. Great for take-out or dine in. The bar is great; awesome service and good prices. Not much to complain about here you have to try their pizza!

There is only one way to enjoy this place: walk in assuming you are going to overeat on huge portions of fresh fried seafood. The fried clams and fried oysters are as close to classic NE fried seafood as your gonna get… accept the unhealthiness and grease, and you will love this place. Also don’t waste your time on the fries(they have that weird coating on them thats meant to keep them crispy), get the handmade onion rings.

I must admit, I got a little worried when I started seeing reviews saying that the Red Wing has slipped, since I now live out of state and hadn’t visited in 3 years or so. Not to worry. I have been coming here for 45 years and it is just as fabulous as it always has been. The fried clams(whole belly, anyone who writes a review based on strips doesn’t know their clams) were perfect. and lots of them. Fried scallops were outstanding as well. The onion rings are among the best I’ve ever had, anywhere. If you are looking for a fancy night out, this is not the place — head down Route 1 and go to Davio’s. If you want the best fried clams around, come here.
