Food here can be a hit or miss. We always order the Thai basil fried rice-it’s pretty good. The pad Thai is quite ordinary. It’s the best Thai option restaurant on moody st.

Great menu, lots of options. Our food was tasty and ready on time. Everything was really good and the staff was friendly. The only issue we had was that the spice level wasn’t really accurate. We all ordered food with medium heat level. However none of the food had any really discernible spice. A little more heat would have made the food better. It won’t deter us from ordering again, we will just opt for Hot or Extra Hot to get the right flavor. Overall… very happy.

In two years I try this place 3 times and every time I never learn. I hate all of they food. Sorry but it is really horrible. I remember first time I tried pork basil, basic that dish. And I can cook it better. If you can cook better why need to eat at restaurants? After that I gave them a shot with some papaya salad. Again, no taste at all. And today will be my last time at this place. I ordered tamarind duck and rib take out. I open the bag and saw duck that supposed to be crispy soak in the sauce made it no more crispy. And tamarind sauce that don’t smell or taste like tamarind at all. Plus free stuff that never asked for it, is a hair. Ribs taste ok but really oily. Peanut sauce is the horrible thing. I taste fouls but no peanut taste

This review is for the bubble(boba) tea ONLY. Ordered a taro flavored bubble tea today. What I received was more like a slush(icey yet smooth) than a typical milk tea, but I like slushes too so no real harm done there. Unfortunately, upon trying the drink, I found it to be lacking in flavor. Taro is a flavor I order regularly at various establishments, but this did not taste like any taro I’d ever had before… it was overly sweet and tasted like vanilla flavored milk. In the end, it was so sweet that I had to throw it away about ¼ of the way through — it was definitely too much to stomach. Overall, $ 5.00 wasted. Won’t be going back for bubble tea anytime soon. I would not recommend stopping in here for bubble tea. If you do, definitely do not order the Taro flavor. Other reviews seem to suggest the coconut isn’t quite as terrible, but I won’t be the one to test it.

Nothing too special, very casual and everyone was very nice. Poh and sandwiches came out great!

I really like this place. I’ve been sick and have ordered delivery of phở a few times, as the only thing my throat could handle was soup. It was delivered very quickly and the deliveryman is so sweet. He’s always smiling, friendly and remembered me from the week before & asked if I was feeling better! Really nice guy. The phở is great as well! It’s a huge portion and I ended up saving half of it for the next day.

— Vietnamese food cooked by a Thai chef? Even the Thai dishes aren’t good either. — The ingredients seem not to be fresh and the soup tastes really weird — A bit pricey given that there is no other VN restaurant nearby — Will not come back

A pretty much go to when I’m out of work(in Waltham) or if I’m working in Waltham. Parking is usually easy because it’s right off Moody St and not too too busy. A small little hole in the wall kind of place. Everything is great — pork chop rice plates, to phở ga, to vermicelli .I mean, I have no complaints so I think you deserve 5 stars for always satisfying my cravings and delivering in a timely manner. And thank you for the extra hot oils.

I come to phở & spice at least once a month with my boyfriend. This restaurant itself is pretty small, and sometimes once you sit down it’s hard to get up from your table because you have to squeeze in between tables and be careful not to knock some stranger’s food over with your butt. I usually get the phở dac biet and it is constantly delicious, I could probably eat two bowls if I had a stomach big enough. I’ve also tried the tom yum noodle soup(pretty good), cham chua(meh, the pineapple chunks were gross and from a can), and bun bo hue(not bad, but I wouldn’t order it again). I’ve also tasted the basil fried rice, which is pretty good. I occasionally get the thai iced tea and split it with my boyfriend bc it’s really sweet and so we half it and add water to make two full glasses. Prices are cheap and now they have a discount if you pay in cash!

Came here a lot during college to fulfill my crazy phở cravings. I’ve had so many bad experiences here. The appetizers are very underwhelming as the portions are teeny tiny and greasy. As for the phở, the broth tastes like MSG. Because my beloved Bun Bo Hue tasted so salty and weird, I usually opted for the Phở Dac Biet, which didn’t taste authentic… but I was desperate for phở. I do like their Spicy Basil Pad Thai with Crispy Chicken — it was full of good flavors, but sometimes, the chicken wasn’t crispy. I don’t recommend the Thai iced tea. It is way too sugary — seriously to a ridiculous extent. The Vietnamese coffee is really a hit or a miss. I stopped ordering it altogether because it was too much of a gamble at $ 4.50. If you are a fan of bubble tea, do NOT order it from here! The boba tastes like rubber. Takeout can be very slow — I’d recommend ordering at least an hour before delivery hours end. I really only got this when I had to pull nighters before a final, so maybe they were just busy nights?

Great combination of Vietnamese and Thai food! The phở dac biet is great, with a side of the papaya salad and chicken wings. The owner loves experimenting and coming up with new dishes, so I always ask for his new inventions. Great place to visit if you love Vietnamese and Thai food.

Review for bubble tea… great! I was turned off by the reviews for food so I just got the bubble tea. Lots of people coming in and getting takeout.

I’m not impressed by this place at all. I came on a cold and rainy evening and had to be queue in a waiting line. The interior is VERY small and can’t accommodate very much customers. I got the Phở and my parents got the Bun Thit Nuong. I wasn’t very impressed with the Phở as the flavor wasn’t all there. I also tried some of the Bun Thit Nuong and that wasn’t good as well. The fish sauce for the Bun Thit Nuong was very bland and it just ruined the meal with crappy fish sauce. This restaurant seems to be a mix of Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. Usually in my own personal experience, a fusion of cuisine like this is usually not very good. In this case, it wasn’t good.

I will not be returning. Since it will be easy to be megative, I will start with a positive. The Phở soup itself was tasty though the supposed rare steak wasn’t and the beef balls were like rubber. The supposed summer roll was mostly shredded lettuce and the lettuce was brown and wilted. I could not finish them. The tables are worn and though clean. the color of the tables etc. Very much reminds one of old diner setups that were already out of date in the 70s.

Ordered take out on grub hub and surprisingly the wait was 45 ish mins(I expected to be quicker). We had the bun bo hue and its was decent, but nothing exceptional;the beef slices could be more. The lemongrass chicken dish was pretty good too but they messed up my order by giving me rice vermecilli(I ordered rice dish) and I really wanted rish with the dish! Anyway I’ll return and try different dishes.

Their soup is excellent. For most food, though, if you want a dose of MSG and no cooperation from ownership /management, this is the place. Food tastes good, but then the MSG headache sets in twenty minutes later. Wake up with super dry tongue from all of their chemicals, er their«spice». Go to Tree Top in Waltham if you want Thai food that is fresh without MSG.

REALLY delicious Phở chicken soup. Great chicken skewers. Good pad Thai. I would wish for more peanuts in the pad thai, and larger portions of the soup. It’s a little pricey too.

Phở & Spice is my go-to when my Vietnamese craving kicks in or phở hunger calls. Always start off with the summer roll. The Dac Biet, Duck Noodle Soup, & Bun Bo Hue are delicious. Their broth is good and they provide a generous plate of basil, bean sprouts, & limes. My boyfriend swears by their fried rice. Huge fans of their thai iced tea as well. Very friendly, family-run business.

A small little place on Moody street. Perfect for a quick bite and NOT for large group. Tried their lunch menu and comes with a soup, spring roll and a gravy+rice. It was sufficient if you are little hungry and dont want to fill yourself up. But, if you are super hungry, that clearly wont be enough for you. Food was tasty, but the soup with sea weed tasted a little funny. A little more pungent that I am used to. But was ok. I might come here and give their Phở a try.
