I would give them NOSTARS… but it is making me enter something, so I guess I have to pick one. I went to pick up lunch for myself and 2 other co-workers. They burnt my co-workers sandwich so badly it was like a hockey-puck. When we called to see what they would do about it, we were told that WE(YES…“WE”) should have paid attention when they were making the sandwich. Are you kidding me??? I am a customer! Not an employee! How did it become my job to pay attention to how they are making a sandwich? Something has gone seriously wrong with customer service over there — they should be CLOSEDDOWN.

This Subway use to be okay. However, I went there yesterday and it was filthy! The floor was dirty, the tables looked like they hadn’t been cleaned all day and the food prep area was covered with pieces of food that had fallen off sandwiches. The 6″ sandwiches have somehow morphed into 4.5″ sandwiches. I usually get the veggie delight which is filled with several different vegetables. Well, yesterday they put lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and peppers on the sandwich. I had to ask for each of the other ingredients. The bag of chips I purchased tasted funky, so I checked the date. When I told the worker at the register that the food had expired a month ago she had a manager talk to me. I pointed to the June 4 date on the bag and she said, «Yea, June 4.» When I told her the chips expired over a month ago she said«Go get another bag.» The only bag left was a bag with a date of July 2. When I explained that the last bag had expired 6 days earlier, the manager told me they were still good and that the date didn’t mean anything! She refused to give me a refund for the chips because I had opened them(I suppose she figured she could sell them to someone else if they hadn’t been opened!). This makes me question the quality of the rest of their food. If I could give a negative star for this place, I would.

Okay I didn’t have the horrible experience as some of my fellow Unilocalers. I did get to wait in line so when I ordered my sandwich it was past when it would be $ 3. Do I curse them with my dying breath? No. I do think they should be more generous with spinach. Belmont Subway treats me well so I’ll stick with them.

I’m sad I have to even give it one star. They really screwed up both subs in my order — the first one, they burnt so badly the cheese was brown and crunchy. The second, the guy accidentally tore half the bread so he tore the torn piece off completely and threw it away — from my sub. My 6 incher was turned into about a 4 incher. He was obviously new, and I was nice about it. I complained about both to a woman who purported herself to be the«owner» and I told her I had never had so many issues with a Subway before. She told me she had never had a customer like me before who caused a scene. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I then told her I wasn’t paying for what they screwed up and she told me to leave and not to come back. I asked her for contact information of someone above her so I could complain and she threatened to call the police. Yep. I was banned from a Subway. I can’t say I am particularly intimidating either — I am barely 5 foot 4 and had my elementary aged daughter with me. That being said, I wish I didn’t even have to give it 1-star. I love Subway, but as an overall of this particular Subway, I can’t bring myself to give it anything more because of what happened. Bottom line: don’t go there — there are so many other places in Waltham(including another Subway) that will not only fulfill your order as ordered but who will actually help you should there be a problem. I cannot believe the way I was treated, and I hope none of you encounter same.

This is just your typical Subway franchise located in a stripmall in Anywhere, US. The food is up to Subway’s typical standards and as usual you get only the bare minimum of meat on your sandwiches unless you’re willing to pay extra. The workers here are friendly and there is rarely a line.

On 4÷10÷12 I ordered take out for myself and a co-worker. The employees were SO nice and helpfully suggested double meat which certainly made the food tastier and more filling. I got the Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki salad and he got the Subway Club. Yummy!

OKOK its Subway, why am I reviewing it? It is probably the cleanest subway I have been to. The staff is nice and friendly as people are saying but please stop asking me if I want extra meat or cheese. The staff definitely does not listen when you place an order. Sometimes you need to yell over the counter to stop them. No I don’t want it toasted! No mayo! No olives! Other than that its good.

Yes, they are friendly. But, I had to ask three times for more of an item. Cheapo! Example: She put pickles on and I said, «Can I have some more pickles pleas?» She literally put one more pickle slice on. I said, «Ah, more please.» She put two more slices on. And I Never ask for more! I hate to. Makes me feel like a pig. But, I had to ask for more pickles, more olives, and more peppers! My friend asked for a steak and cheese with nothing but the steak and cheese. When she took it out of the wrapping, you couldn’t even see that thetre was anything in between the bread. She opened it and I was shocked! You could see the cheese, but there was so little steak that it was like, well, let me say, if you took all the steak on the sandwich and put it on a plate, it would be one big bite! Terrible. Cheap!

The Subway on River St. is my favorite Subway. The place is clean, the people are friendly and attentive, and the food is not sketchy. There is some great people watching here as it seems that the Subway on River St. is My First Subway to many Waltham/Watertownites. I’ve seen people ask for plates, become concerned when they are handed an empty cup when they order soda, and become extremely confused with all those bread/topping/sauce/meat choices. FYI– often the Shaws next door has Subway coupons on the back of the receipt.

AND I AMTHEFIRST… EVENBETTER! Ok, a theme is going on here. When I first moved here(Boston) 9 months ago, I worked from home and lived in Watertown. Since you can only eat so much pizza(WATERTOWN), this was the closest Subway. I must say, a highlight of my day was coming here. The ladies behind the counter are some of the sweetest people I have met. When I first asked for«more» jalapeño, she looked at me with concern. After I confirmed my request, she said«more?» with raised eyebrows and a smile; as if I would die should a white boy take in so many hot peppers(unknown to her, I did move here from TX). After that visit, these Indian women were some of my favorites in the whole world(and believe me, that is saying A LOT). They ALWAYS treated me so well. And, every time I mentioned jalapeño, they would smile and pile them on. So cute! Now that I have left the area, I don’t visit as often. But whenever I am near this place, I make a point to stop. I think I would stop to buy a sandwich even if I were not hungry. Love them ladies and their service.
