If you love historical buildings then you must plan a visit to the Gaines Tavern History Center. It is a lovely museum. It is a little off the beaten path in Walton, Kentucky, but very easy to find. The house and outbuildings are circa 1814. The house is a 2 ½ story Federal brick with a grand entrance hall. Lots of details to note; the six panel door with original hardware, a three story staircase, magnificent fireplace and mantle and carved baseboards, just to name a few. The cost for a tour is $ 3 for adults. The Gaines Tavern is not open every weekend but they do post a schedule of events on their facebook page(Gaines Tavern History Center). These events include Vintage clothing displays, Vintage car shows, special tea parties and other celebrations. This property is on the National Register of Historic Places.
