I’m not even going to give more than 1 star. I cannot stand the food it tastes nauseating! Also the tap water tastes contaminated which is absolutely disgusting. I had to order my meal in Spanish because none of the staff speak English but the staff were very nice. The service time was good but the food was just terrible! I’m not going to eat here again.

I have been to the«Green Cactus» in Rockville Centre and Roslyn and they are fantastic! The Green Cactus in Wantagh is terrible. The problem is I live near this location. I wish the owners read this review so they can fix what is going on at the Wantagh location. would be more of a regular customer if they did. So for now… stay away from this location at all costs.

This place was just okay. My mom and I went out for lunch here since it is around the block. I ordered the vegetarian burrito since it came with guacamole, but there was none put on my burrito. I also didn’t really like the salsas they had because they were liquidy and not really thick, the way I like most salsas. My mom really enjoyed her tostado salad, it was loaded with all the ingredients. I prefer Moe’s and Chipotle, but I’d go back here sometimes.

Meh, kinda expencive for what you get. There’s nothing wrong wit the food, but it’s nothing to write home about. The one foot burrito is a steal. If you want some mexican any your in the area, you wont be disappointed but don’t expect to be blown away.

From the taking of our order to eating the food. The experience was horrendous. Waited about 10 minutes just to place our order, then waited another 20 minutes before receiving it. Other people who came in after us got their food before us. NEEDTOHIREMORESTAFF! Our order was incorrect and the food was horrible. There was pieces of fish in our chicken tacos and rotted avocado with the skin still on in spots, in our tacos as well. Was a better place before they moved. Will never go back again!

Been eating at the RVC restaurant for years, so I expected the same great food. My son and I were going to the movies and having requested tacos he suggested green cactus. Being very familiar with the working of the restaurant I left plenty of time knowing that everything is cooked to order do it takes a little time. I should have realized that if could not be the same owners when the food came out two minuets after I ordered. The great thing about RVC store is that everything is cooked to order. Fresh. It’s worth the 10 min drive.

We just ordered from here, and I don’t think we’ll be doing this again. We ordered 3 different burritos, and all three were wrong. Given how rude the woman at the register was when my husband picked up the order, it wasn’t even worth calling to try to rectify the issues.

I have eaten at this terrible version of Green cactus for the last time! ALL of the negative reviews are spot on with the awful vibes from the staff and that completely translates into the food. SOOO disappointing for this chain. They need to cut this one loose; it is such a bad representation of their brand I walk in around 5:00, I am the only one in the place and order a burrito. The burrito is served lukewarm with cold chips. I stupidly put a dollar in the tip jar out of habit; I swear I wanted to retrieve my dollar and in its place put this cold burrito. This Green Cactus has served me for the last time.

If you’re looking for Mexican«fast food», this is a way better option that taco bell. The food is fresh and their salsa is amazing. I don’t eat fast food usually, but they don’t use fake cheese etc like other chains. I like how they use corn tortillas for the tacos. Steak taco with hot salsa is my favorite. The only not so great thing I’d have to say is there is a woman that sometimes works the register there that is not very pleasant. She acts like she absolutely hates working there, sets off a negative vibe… She was working 10÷4÷15 and didn’t say two words to me while checking out, just frowned at me the entire time. «Thank you have a nice day» could go a long way!

Been a fan of this chain for years. The food is fantastic and made with high quality ingredients. Menu could use some more unique dishes, but if it’s the simple stuff you’re looking for — burritos, bowls, tacos, fajitas, etc. — you can’t do much better from what’s essentially a fast food joint. However, the Wantagh location which I’ve been frequenting since moving to Long Island has gotten progressively worse over the years. The staff is HORRIBLE. They are rude and make you feel like they’re doing you favors by serving your food. Consistently mess up take out orders then when you call them back about it they give attitude and have the nerve to ask you to bring back the food they gave you that wasn’t on the original order … As if they could still sell it!(They might, don’t put it past them). Bottom line: you can do much better with much less aggravation. Go somewhere else!

The Green Cactus is very comparable to Chipotle. The food quality and price is about the same. The big difference is that Green Cactus doesn’t have the overwhelmingly long lines that Chipotle has. I had a burrito bowl. It took the cashier a while to figure what I meant. Luckily, the manager was there and stepped in the properly register the order. He was extremely helpful. The bowl itself was good. I think the pico de gallo was the best part.

I used to come here all the time in high school. They have recently move locations next door to a smaller sized building but it’s definitely prettier inside. They are truly one of my favorite Mexican joints. The flavors of the endless Pico De Gallo and salsas that are open to everyone to take as much as you want, are delicious and fresh. They advertise their food as having no lard, and no microwaves. Everything is fresh. My go to is usually a Quesadilla. It comes with a fair amount of chips, Pico de Gallo, guacamole which is always fresh and delicious, and sour cream. A lot of places charge my extra for a sad amount of guacamole but this place piles it on and it’s so reasonably priced. If you want to be healthy, the cactus salada is simple but delicious. For under $ 10 per meal, you just can’t go wrong. Their food is just delicious. Highly recommend to all.

I have been a fan of this place for over a decade, and recently it lost its appeal. I do not frequent the one in RVC anymore, but did frequent it for a long time, as I did the one in the Cherrywood shopping center, but i went to the new location just north of the Dunkin Donuts in the Cherrywood center, and will never go back. The food just wasn’t good, chips were greasy, and worst of all, i asked for hot sauce and they pointed me towards a station which looked like a college dorm room kitchen, on a Sunday morning, after a Fraternity party… i actually balked and said something, and then walked out for the last time. Dont waste your meal or money, another place not far from here just south of Sunrise on Wantagh ave.

I went here a while back and shared a steak tostada with the person I was with. It wasn’t bad, but the big girl behind the counter gave me the stankest attitude. I think I interrupted her munching on taco shells and she was NOT happy about it. I was in a great mood that day and she was so rude it definitely put a damper. She rolled her eyes and basically threw our order on the counter. Never again. People in customer service have to learn to treat the people who are supporting their livelihoods with at least a little kindness.

So disappointed, horrible customer service. Felt last time I was there the same thing and now that they moved(now next to the diner next door) I decided to try again. Place was empty except for a mother with her 3 kids. Ordered a burrito and a taco and asked if I could have some rice in the burrito and was told NO with a nasty tone. I’m sorry, did I ask for too much? If so, you can say it nicely or maybe just take care of a customer and make sure he’s happy. Oh, and the mother with her kids overhead it and when I was over getting my salsa said she was nasty to her as well when she asked for an extra plate for her kids. Took the takeout home, taco was soggy with wimpy lettuce(see picture) and dried out chicken. The burrito had chewy steak along with tangy guacamole. Not good at all. Guess the attitude made it to the food as well. Too bad, last time I will come here. Hope the owner reads this and realizes that if you want to stay in business, make sure your customers feel welcome and the food you serve is delicious.

Upon entering I was greeted the most unpleasent girl who took my order. I paid $ 13.95 for a signiture steak burrito and $ 2.29 asingle self serve soda for a basically $ 17 dinner for my first vist to this Mexican Grill. My expectations were high but quickly dampened when I requested cinlinto be could nt be added to my food and was told just throw pico de gallo on my food. What I received was a $ 14 been burrito with a trace of steak and absent of any taste! Also beware they close sort of early. While eating they started to stack chairs and dump garbage right next to my table. This made me sorta of uncomfortable. I also noted a number customers did not hesitate to leave and choose the diner while I waited for my food. If you like very bland food this is the place for you that is overpriced… Go for it. Otherwise pass and proceed to a restaurant that welcomes you. I am not who writes just negative reviews but this was just a worthless experience. I just call them as I see it

My sister has a Mexican food obsession and this is definitely in her top 3 favorites! I get a burrito or a cheese quesadilla. Always good. We usually get a large guacamole for our family. Also load up on the salsa at the salsa bar. I recommend calling in your order because it can take a while for them to make the food, especially on a Friday or Saturday. Also, they close pretty early.

Food isn’t bad here, but nothing spectacular. Overpriced. But what turned me off is the chubby(being nice) girls attitude problem. No it wasn’t me with the attitude. I respect all types of workers. Especially is the food and retail industry. Word of advice… leave your attitude at home. People pay good money to eat here and don’t need an attitude problem for no apparent reason. Never ever had anyone throw a receipt at me or roll their eyes. I will not be coming back here

This place used to be really great, and I’ll admit that the food still is really great(delicious even). Based only on the food, it’s hard to say which place I prefer more, Green Cactus or Chipotle(I’m undecided). For example, Green Cactus’s tortilla chips are freshly made, really delicious, and are much better than Chipotle’s tortilla chips. However, they have a number of problems which have unfortunately made it an unpleasant experience to eat here. Problems: 1. Their new Wantagh location is much worse than their old Wantagh location(which was much larger and in a different shopping center). The parking at the new location is terrible and their parking lot is very small. They keep the inside of the restaurant at 80 degrees or warmer in the summer, and they keep it too cold in the winter(you’ll be uncomfortable if you eat here). There is a a full step up into the store, and though they made a very poor attempt to create a ramp over the step, it is unnaturally steep, and the ultimate result is that people with any walking-related problems are likely to trip over it(you’ve been warned). They put their soda fountain machine in the new location in a very narrow area next to the condiments(salsa, etc.) so that if anyone is taking condiments then their body will block access to the soda machine, and you won’t be able to get soda until that person is done. 2. They have had a sign up by their register for over a year now(literally over 1 year) claiming that they must charge an additional $ 1.50 for steak because of volatility in the beef market. Of course, no other restaurant in the world has a sign like this, and they’ve had the sign up way too long(over 1 year) as opposed to just raising their prices. It’s very clear that it’s a fake sign, and they simply wanted to raise their prices without taking responsibility for doing so. Therefore, they are trying to create the illusion that it’s someone else’s fault. In other words, they are full of baloney, they’re dishonest, and they lie to you. 3. For the past month, they’ve put up a sign saying«cash only, sorry for the inconvenience.» When asked, they say the machine is broken. However, it’s been 1 month since the sign appeared. Clearly, they just don’t want to take credit cards anymore, probably so they can cheat on their taxes. If this was really due to a broken machine, then they would have repaired it by now. 4. They have raised their prices over the years(even without their fake beef volatility sign). This used to be a fairly inexpensive place to eat, and that is no longer true. It’s not expensive, but it is no longer inexpensive like it once was. Chipotle is cheaper, and their food is almost just as good(almost). 5. The preparation of the some of the food is sometimes inconsistent. The biggest example of this is seen with the guacamole. Depending on who makes it, the guacamole will taste a little different almost every time you go. The largest difference is that sometimes it is way too salty and other times it isn’t. I’ve been forced to send orders of guacamole back for being way too salty, the staff tasted it after I complained, and then I saw the chef get lectured that he was preparing it wrong(it was a little funny to watch). I sometimes see inconsistency with other food items, but it’s the most noticeable with the guacamole. Overall this used to be a really a great place, and the food still is great(delicious). However, the restaurant has become significantly less pleasant to go to over the years, especially if you are eating there(small new location, bad internal set-up blocks access to soda machine, bad parking, higher prices, fake pricing signs /dishonesty, no credit cards /cash only, inconsistent food preparation, uncomfortable temperature in the restaurant at all times of year). At this point, I honestly think there are other Mexican restaurants which have nearly as good food, but where the restaurant is much more pleasant to go to.
