Wow hard to believe no response from the owners. Guess that shows their lack of interest in Unilocal reviews.

I’ve eaten here at least 10 times a year for 10 years. Ate here 12÷21÷13 with 18 others for a 80th birthday party. The server tried but was unsuccessful due to bad kitchen prep. Food was over an hour wait. Some people were finished eating before others got their meals 20 min later. Even first meals were cool or cold. Second meals were under cooked and dry. Food and service seems to get worse with each visit. I was embarrassed for my hosts who spent hundreds on a poor meal.

The food has the potential to be great but depending on the day or who is cooking makes a big difference. Dont go on a Sunday. The bread was not only cold be stale and chewy. The food has been warm when delivered to the table the last two times we visited and the beer is always luke cold. Our experince last Sunday sealed the deal though, not going to the sit down side again… so sad.

Very cute little restaurant. The waitstaff was attentive and knowledgable. However the food was average. Nothing special. Menu very elaborate. I think if they scaled it down a little and concentrated on making a few great dishes it would be better.

Antonella’s in Wappingers is really two restaurants in one. A traditional, sit-down restaurant on one side, and a neighborhood pizza joint on the other. This review is a little tricky, because it’s only for the pizza place; I have been to the sit-down restaurant side, but I don’t really remember it. The pizza side has a few tables(maybe 9?) and a counter; you get pizza to go or you seat yourself. They typically have several gourmet pizzas(white pizza, veggie and broccoli, etc), plain pizza, and rolls/stromboli(chicken roll etc) ready to go; they heat it up when you order. I believe Antonella’s pizza doesn’t get the respect it deserves. I never hear anyone talking about it, I never see advertisements for it, and it’s never all that crowded when I go in. There are a lot of good pizza places in the Poughkeepsie area(Giacomos, DD’s) but the gourmet pizzas at Anotnella’sare consistently excellent. I am chowing down on one chicken marsala slice and one spicy buffalo chicken slice right now and I can honestly say I can’t find a better gourmet slice anywhere in Dutchess or Ulster county. Their plain slices are some of the best in the area too, but I’m a sucker for the gourmet slices. They are on the expensive side(these two slices cost me 8 bucks) but when you consider the quality of the toppings, it is worth it. View my ‘about me’ page to see how I rate dining establishments. This is a 2.5 star restaurant.
