I’m in love with this park. Great looking playground for the kids, large fields for games, and delightful trails. Some exertion required to get up some of the hills, but pleasant ambling in other areas.

This is a really nice family park in Poughkeepsie, located somewhat behind the mall. Very big, lots of space for grilling, they have a huge playground for the kids, lots of pavilions, a huge baseball field. I love pulling my blanket out and laying on the field. Something for everybody. The only reason why I don’t always prefer to come here is because how packed this park gets, especially in the summer. I mean the place looks like a community pool in the summer! They do have bathrooms there which is nice. All in all its one of the best parks in Poughkeepsie.

Bowdoin Park is a pretty good sized park, about 300 acres, set along the Hudson River just south of Poughkeepsie. There are many events that go on in season, such as being a great vantage point for fireworks, organized sports games, concerts at the Band Shell or just meeting up with a bunch of people looking to enjoy an outdoor afternoon of sun and fun. I however, have gotten the bug to explore parks off season while they are quiet and serene. Bowdoin is no exception. I have been to Bowdoin Park many times when in full bloom but there is something magnificent about having the place essentially to oneself. Though muddy the park was manageable and the singing of the birds provided the musical score to my walk with G. To see tiny little green shoots coming up from the ground reminded me that Spring is not far behind and such moments of solitude will be few and far between in the not too distant future. :)))
