Holiday Inn Express Syracuse-Fairgrounds

Great place to rest. I’m sure it’s more hopping when the fairgrounds are active, but away from then, when I’ve stayed here, it’s the ultimate in peace and quiet. Parking is easy and well lit. It’s off the highway a bit and isolated in a desolate corporate park. Staff is friendly and the lobby and other common areas are inviting. Pool looks great, and the breakfast is well stocked and full of fresh, well prepared foods. Rooms are large, beds are firm and bedding is clean and comfy. It’s not an exciting location with an urban heartbeat, but a fine place to keep a low profile and sleep deeply without distraction. Wifi is solid. Pricing is a bit high, considering it lacks local entertainment and dining options, but still a decent value.

They overbooked the hotel for our stay. The manager Christine called us and let us know there was a change. We thought it was going to be a huge problem, however Christine was kind and re-​booked us in another non holiday inn brand hotel. She was very apologetic, and helpful.
The other hotel (The Sherwood Inn) was on par or better in some respects to the Holiday Inn.
I would give a 4.5 stars for service. Unfortunately 3 stars for not having a room, however another 4.5 stars for the good recovery.
