Awesome shop, great grain prices too. Everyone I’ve dealt with there knows brewing and mead really well. I don’t do wine but it looks like they sell a ton of wine kits too. Grain is self serve(weigh it and crush it yourself) but I like being in control of my ingredients. Bring in some homebrew to share.

They have all the basics for home brewing. I’ve been here 3x. The staff & store seem to be geared more toward experienced brewers who know what they are looking for. I’ve been able to meet my needs here, but if you’re a first timer I’d suggest reading up on brewing before you visit.

First time experience was great. Being overwhelmed with the options and supplies available the guy behind the counter was a great help. Pointed to everything I needed, including the very basics. Recently they even added a stand-up cooler with different«liquid» yeast.

I have read all the bad reviews and I have to say. they are all correct. In todays economy, you would think that you would have better customer service and a better run business than this. I know its only a brewery supply store, but at least make it clean. It looks like it has dust on the boxes and bottles since the first Bush was in office. I did ask the guy behind the counter about a certain kind of yeast and he grunted and murmured something that I thought was an answer. Its too bad that this place sucks so bad, cause I like the beer a lot from their brewery next door. I guess the brothers must have hired the guy behind the counter cause he was a childhood friend, but all he seems to do is look at porn or whatever on the computer instead of actually doing something called«work». If I was the owners, I would get rid of him and hire someone who actually wants to work and will treat everybody with some courtesy and helpfulness. This place is close by but it makes me wonder if I should drive a little bit further to actually get answers and the things Im looking for without some elitist attitude.

Years ago my husband and I were considering doing some homebrewing. We stopped here, went in and told the guy behind the counter our situation. His response was basically… nothing. We wandered for a few minutes through the bewildering equipment ad bags of grain, knowing nothing, and eventually left since we had no clue where to start. Since then, we’ve been to about every other home brew shop in the area, and learned how wrong this is! At every other shop we’ve visited we’ve been greeted by enthusiastic employees eager to help out and answer our questions. I have returned to Brewingworld on a few occasions, and have never had a good experience. They seem to never have key ingredients in stock, and the service is horrible. My husband calls the guy who works there«Comic Book Guy» because he reminds him of the guy from the Simpsons. He seems to have the same attitude towards his customers, and bears a physical resemblance, too.

this review is based on two trips to brewing world first trip was the day after christmas. i had just received my first home brewing kit from the bf and wanted to go and pick out something to brew. we drive over and… closed! closed the day after christmas? ummm i think people get brew kits as christmas presents the same way i did. wouldn’t you be open to capitalize on the possible business that would come after that? especially when you sell first time kits. so i went back today. bad experience. the guy behind the counter was just a lump of nothing. he looked like comic book guy from the simpsons. he was too busy when i walked in talking to a friend to even say hello. i finally went over to him and said«hello, i’m a first time brewer and i have a few questions about getting started, could you answer some of my questions?». He replied«depends on the questions.» first of all, you work at a very niche hobby store. you should be able to answer any question about beer i ask. second of all, hi there i’m a customer dude. so i ask him about corking the carboy(a fermenting device) and his reply is that all the instructions are in the kits. dude, i looked online, read manuels and researched this. i was hoping you could help. a customer offered to help and invited me to a brew club. the fat man behind the desk did nothing. i bought 50 bucks worth of merchandise and was planned on buying 70 dollars more. i chose to buy some of the needed ingredients at meijer across the street instead because i was so pissed and wanted to give the guy as little money as possible. when i bought the bottles needed for bottling, he couldn’t even get off his fat ass to show me which ones i actually bought. a customer helped me find them. everything is kinda warehouse laid out; if the warehouse was your 500 sq foot apt you had when you were 21. the guy couldn’t find it in him to walk maybe 10 steps over and show me where it was. and then i spend 50 bucks and he says nothing. not even thanks or goodbye. he was right by the door when i walked out with two boxes of 22oz beer bottles and a customer opened the door for me, you suck dude. i hate this place. you aren’t the only guys in the business you know. and i’m sure you’re not packed all the time. it is a small hobby. love, juston
