This place was a large part of my life from my childhood up into my 20’s. I since have moved a great distance from this park, but I have a lot of memories of playing there — both in terms of playground equipment and sports on the various fields and surfaces. It is one of the better parks around in terms of size and scope, offering a place for families to come and grill while their kids play and have fun. The great thing is that while it can get full sometimes, especially on nice summer weekends, it never becomes too full where it becomes annoying and a chore to come here. They have tennis courts, soccer fields(on both sides), a baseball diamond, a basketball court with two nets, a big pavilion area which is good for picnics and pizza parties, slides and playground equipment you’d see at most areas, etc. There are many parking spots on both sides of the park, and speed bumps are all over to prevent speeding in the intimate area by the road. I played soccer here for many years and found the fields quite satisfactory, and the basketball court isn’t too bad if you’re trying to play pick up ball with some friends. The smaller soccer nets on the west side of the park are pretty cool as well, especially if you have no goalie and want to make things competitive. The tennis courts are real nice and are surrounded by tall fences that make it hard to hit a ball over — unless you’re really bad! Ha. It’s a good place to play and watch sports, engage with others in the community and even throw a BBQ on a summer evening. And I almost forgot about the city fair that takes place in the summer, offering even more options to an already robust lineup. Clean and fun, this is one of the better parks in all of Macomb County.

I’m shocked this place doesn’t have higher marks. The park is very clean with self serve BBQ grills. The pavilions are spacious and once again very clean. Plenty of parking and the place closes at 10:00 which is reasonable for a park. We walked around and the amount of property here is amazing. I wish I had more to say but I don’t need to I guess. It’s appears to be free and the only down fall is that there is no alcohol. With this said, Kuhnhenn is just down the road so no harm done.

Security said the Park is dog friendly… meaning I can bring my dog in… but had to leave because another staff member wasn’t sure it was ok to have my tiny dog there. :(Chica is so sad… :(

Good Olé’ Halmich Park! This park hosts baseball games of all ages, day games, night games under the bright lights. Halmich hosts the City Fair in June, the pumpkin pickin patch & hayrides in the fall. They also have petting zoos and other activities at this park. They have tennis courts, multiple pavilions &BBQ pits, volleyball courts. They used to have parks & rec here when I was a kid, I’m not sure if they still offer that or not. They have several different playgrounds for all different ages of kids. In the winter they have a mini hill for first time sledders & dads to lazy to climb up the hill at John R in Madison Heights. So whatever activity you & the family are looking to do Halmich is a great spot if your in the Warren area.
