First things first: If you’re the type to judge a book by its cover, you might be inclined to judge this place harshly. That’s because the dining area definitely has seen its better days. Everything from the wallpaper to the floor screams«old» and«run down» and that may deter some customers. But, I urge you to look behind the cover; I encourage you to «read the book» instead. If you do, you may find more here than you expected. I’ve eaten Chinese fare at a number of locations, particularly in the Akron area. This is one of the only places, thus far, that seems to get it right when I order the Singapore Mei Fun. For the uninitiated, Mei Fun is a dish comprised of thin rice noodles. Typically, there are pork, chicken, and Singapore varieties. Singapore-style Mei Fun is a dish that is seasoned with such things as curry powder, bean sprouts, pak choi, soy sauce, and sliced chili peppers. I’ve ordered this dish from many other establishments and, usually, most of them screw up the seasoning by either making the dish too spicy or not spicy enough. This is the only place that has struck the right balance; they seasoned my Mei Fun pretty well and they do so consistently. This was a wonderful surprise! So, yes, this place may not look pretty on the outside. For that, I’ve downgraded the rating by one star. But, forget about appearances and let the food speak for itself. You, like me, will be pleasantly surprised.

This is our go to Chinese spot. Decent food. We usually call in our order and they always say«15 minutes». There has never been a time when we got there and our order was ready. I think they only start cooking after you pay. Not usually a problem, just know that you’re going to wait 15 minutes after you arrive and pay.

Had a training class and this is where a co-worker and I decided to hit up for lunch. We were a little skeptical as we were the only ones in the place during the lunch hour. Located in a small strip plaza, the place was a little run down and not very cheery. The tables had kind of a film on them from being wiped down from the same, 2 day old dirty cloth. Scary! The folks working were very nice but their English so broken we couldn’t under stand them that well. The gentleman placed a menu in front of us at the counter so we could order without the language barrier getting in the way. We both ordered the General Tso’s lunch special of which came with pork fried rice and a drink. Price: $ 4.50-good deal. The food was ready in 10 minutes and they brought it to our table. We were both pleasantly surprised at the portions. Neither of us could finish it– believe it or not. The food was very good but I could of done without the excessive sauce on the chicken. The spice wasn’t up to par either but OK. I couldn’t go higher than 3-stars as the food was pretty good but the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Solid lunch spot where carryout would be the better option.
