well, i am glad to see this place survive in a quickly dying neighborhood. but i can not understand their business logic. on two separate occasions i have come in to purchase a reuben only to be frustrated and walk out because they refused to answer one simple question, «how many ounces of corned beef come on your large(king) reuben» my answer was rudely spouted out by the waitress as between 8 and 16 ounces. so i tried asking again looking for a more specific answer and she replied with i already told you it is almost a pound. all i wanted to know was whether it was better to buy the big reuben or the regular reuben for 2 dollars less. so instead of answering my question they lost a ten or fifteen dollar sale.

I came, I saw, I conquered! Love the little place that I’m at the food is good the service is great. I’m giving them four stars because I asked for a lean corn beef sandwich and was replied to by the sandwich artist stating they don’t have lean but it’s very lean beef… I got a fatty meat sandwich it tasted good don’t get me wrong but it just wasn’t what I was craving and it lacked the amount of beef needed for a a true corned beef Sandwich. All in all I would stop again especially since everything I had was good!

How does a place that’s been around since the ‘60s only have 5 reviews? How have I not reviewed this place before? I grew up thinking your standard reuben came on pumpernickel due to the number of times my Dad would detour to this place with me in the car and get a House Special, Lol. The beef barley soup is legend, as well as the bean & ham, chili is good and cornbeef is king. Had my usual House Special Reuben, but all the sandwiches are good at this place. Have never tried the fish, so ordered 1 piece, and it was good, that same old school, English style cod of Milroy’s fame, Scotty Simpson’s or London Fish & Chips. Small, cozy counter, service is always good. Carry-out, catering available. Deli pickles on the counter, help yourself. $ 15 minimum purchase on credit card orders is because businesses have to pay a fee for credit card transactions, no biggee, you shouldn’t be walking outta’ the house without a double-sawbuck as emergency sammich money in your pocket anyway, ;).

Best Cod Dinner I’ve ever tasted EVER. Every person that I’ve taken here has absolutely loved it! The workers are amazing! Their beef barley soup is great as well. Maria is the best !

They have a great grilled chicken pitta, that being said the last time I went in there and ordered my food sat 15 min and watched the cook make my pita then go to pay for it the help said there is a $ 15 min on credit card purchases, informed her I don’t carry cash and card was all I had, she said well there is a fifteen dollar min. So I walked out, she lost an $ 10 sandwich sale over a .30 credit card fee, what kinda logic is that? That might just be the dumbest business move ive ever seen. no signs posted no credit under $ 15 and turn me away after making my food you lost a 20x a year cust over a $.30 fee. Norm come with the family I guess that’s why I never knew the $ 15 rule, will NEVER be back. Food isn’t that good

When I’m in Detroit, this is the spot to get the best Corn Beef Sandwich. Great food and friendly staff!

Pretty good large sandwiches. The wait staff is friendly and prices are reasonable comparitively. Sure, it is more expensive than fast food but a good sandwich with corned beef usually is. It slips one star because they do not accept credit cards, which is almost unheard of in 2012. So definitely worth a stop, just remember to bring your appetite and a 20 dollar bill!
