I am sure the hipsters have heard of Johnny the Noodle King; well, this is that Johnny ! See, once upon a time Johnny the Noodle King on Fort Street used to be Johnny the Ham King and he was a Southwest Detroit legend serving up some of the best diner breakfasts Detroit has ever known. There was a time when he was selling 100 hams a week out of the older location that used to be at Fort Street and Rosa Parks Blvd. He later moved down Fort Street to where Johnny the Noodle King is today and now after 30 years, he in Warren on 8 Mile just east of Van Dyke. Peter has not changed too much here at the Ham King. The only thing different are the hash browns being served at breakfast… they used to be like scalloped potatoes and now they are the string cut out of bag. I really miss the old scalloped like potatoes from the Ham King of past. Coffee could be stronger… service is always good. Nothing fancy… just a diner, but a huge improvement to when White Way Hamburgers was here… it’s clean now… lol Ham cheese omelet with coney chili inside is near righteousness still. Just gotta do something about those hash browns and coffee. I want butter and not margarine.
