Located just a short drive outside of Rockland it is surely worth a visit… if not repeat visits. Gourmet comfort food is the specialty of the house along with warmth and personality care of proprietors Natalie and Doug. My wife had a gourmet pizza prepared to her liking(choice of fresh ingredients and even made w/thin crust as per her request) and we got to watch as it baked in the wood burning brick oven. I had the Osso Bucco served with garlic mashed potatoes and a perfectly prepared vegetable/fig medley. Both dishes were excellent. Wine selection was also good and at a reasonable price point that allowed us to try several glasses. I would greatly recommend reservations in advance as there are only 10 or so tables… and if you are lucky, snag a couple seats at the bar where you can watch the chef work, as well as take in the interesting conversation. We will definitely be back… with friends.

Silver Lane Bistro is an outstanding restaurant owned and run by a gracious couple who have a passion for good food that they love to share with their customers. Everything I’ve tried on the menu has been amazing, and chef Doug has also come up with a few improvised meals that have been incredible. In addition to the great food, the overall experience is made more special by the warm atmosphere and the unique setting at the edge of a cornfield.

Located off the beaten path near Rockland, ME, this gem is a must if you are anywhere near the mid-coast of Maine. It’s owned by the nicest couple who welcome you and chat with you intermittently during your meal. Doug and Natalie run the place with Doug cooking the most delicious, gourmet«comfort food» you can imagine and Natalie running the floor. They also have a brick oven that made the best pizza I can think of. Don’t miss out on the Silver Lane Bistro. It’s worth the 10 minute drive from Rockland. Note: make a reservation as there are only about 12 tables.
