Sadly, there will be no more Sunnyside. I will surely miss eating delicious, unique breakfast dishes right on the water. His pumpkin pancakes were such a great treat on his last weekend. HOWEVER do not worry, the owner will be opening a new location offering dinner as well. Keep your ears open, I’m sure you will hear all about it when it’s underway and ready to open!

I seldom give out 5 stars but this place blew my mind. The name is deceiving and makes it sound like a little breakfast diner. The food is something you would expect from a busy San Francisco eatery. I have only been here once but cannot wait to go back. I went around April during a warm spring day on a weekday for lunch. Shockingly enough, there was a little bit of a wait. The Bristol-ites were all out and about(because they don’t need to work like us regular folk) so we didn’t get to sit outside on the patio. We were served a complimentary small plate of a few mini homemade muffins with that toasted out flavor and several homemade jams on the side. Just this all plate alone had my licking my chops contemplating which lunch item to choose. The menu is based on availability of local foods and has the farm market feel to it. I ended up ordering Fish Tacos which was griddled local cod, avocado and house salsas. This plate was so vibrant in color, fresh and perfectly portioned. The salsas were incredible, the tacos were CA quality and there was even a little pickled vegetable salad which tasted amazing. I literally finished everything on my plate. I cannot wait to go back to this gem and this place is definitely on my top ten.

After meeting Chef at the Farm Fresh Local Food Fest and tasting his DELCIOUS offerings, I have been wanting to try Sunnyside in person. On a recent Sunday morning, it did not disappoint. I arrived and was treated to a cup of coffee while waiting for a seat. I ordered the omlette special that had wild forgaged mushrooms with arugala and riccotta cheese. Just because I was splurging, I had wood grilled bacon too. :) Cooked until crispy and wonderful in its thick-cut glory. The kitchen is open, so you can watch Chef and the soux chefs at work. The main dining room is bright with its white walls, exposed beams, and skylights. There is a banquette that runs along the windows. There’s a patio that is enclosed by tent-sides in cooler weather. Located on the quaint Water Street in Warren, you are also treated to views of the harbor while you wait or eat. Can’t be beat. I hope to be back again and again… though it is on the pricey side, so it will have to be for a treat only.

Beautiful view overlooking the ocean… check Huge bay windows to enjoy the sun… check Homemade jams… check Yes, I’m in love. I have a few favorite breakfast places in northern RI, but none compete with Sunnyside. It’s the whole package – beautiful restaurant, great service, and unforgettable food. They have a private parking lot which is convenient and I love walking around quaint downtown Warren after brunch. It doesn’t get much better than this.

I love, love brunch. It’s probably my favorite meal to eat out since there are so many options: early morning or late afternoon; sweet or savory; coffee or cocktails; poached or scrambled. I have some staple spots that I like to frequent in Providence, but Sunnyside is my new favorite destination brunch. It’s a cute little cottage perched right on the water in Warren and it’s absolutely worth the trip(and subsequent wait). I’ve been a couple of times now and the noon to 1pm hour seems to be perfect. It’s late enough that the rush has passed, but still not too close to the cut-off time when they stop taking names. I’ve never had to wait more than 15 minutes, which is perfectly acceptable, considering the nice setup of coffee and flavored water just outside. Each time I’ve come for brunch, I’ve had something different and I’ve yet to be disappointed. The grilled grapefruit served with local honey is carmel-y and juicy, the complimentary bites of fresh bread are sweet and served with homemade jams, and the sausage links are far superior to Jimmy Dean’s. I think my favorite dish so far has been the dutch baby pancake. It’s the perfect mix of textures: light and crispy outside with a rich, custard-like center. Throw some fresh fruit and real maple syrup on there and you’ve won me over. Other menu items that have been great include the eggs divorciados and Mediterranean breakfast. I have a feeling that you can’t really go wrong here. I love the frothy, strong(and not too sweet) Greek frappé to start, but the mimosas and fresh juices are tempting, too. Also, the dum-dum pops that come with the check are a cute touch. I love little surprises like that! My only(tiny) complaint: it can get pretty hot and stuffy inside, especially on humid mornings. They don’t have air conditioning, but the strong sea breezes can usually be felt throughout the dining room. Kudos to the kitchen staff for cranking out tons of plates in the sweltering dog days of summer.

I have found it: my favorite brunch spot. This charming little seaside cottage creates the most delicious food — be it crab cakes, eggs benedict, hash browns or even grilled grapefruit — that I have ever freaking had. We went on a Sunday morning, so obviously there was a wait at least thirty people deep. Thankfully, there is a lovely outdoor waiting area where they’ve set up a self-serve coffee bar that also has wonderfully refreshing lemon-cucumber water. We sat and watched the boats sail by for about 30 minutes, and the extremely sweet hostess called to us when our table was ready. The service was great — warm and friendly, and very helpful when I wanted at least five of the menu items. She narrowed it down for me, and I could not have been happier with my brunch: my crab cakes benedict was so flavorful, with beautifully poached eggs atop perfectly crispy, meaty crab cakes. The Hollandaise was lemony and rich without being gloopy or thick, and the home fries were nice and brown without a hint of grease. So good. The space is lovely — an old cottage with exposed beams, large windows and wooden floors. The kitchen is open, so you see the guys making everything back there from scratch — even squeezing my grapefruit juice fresh to order. I enjoyed every moment of my time at Sunnyside and canot wait to go back!

Super yummy fresh food for breakfast or lunch and a great atmosphere on the water. The prices can be on the higher side and the wait is sometimes a bit long. If you’ve got some time to kill and looking for a really fresh, yummy, simple meal check it out.

This place is outrageous. Sunnyside is a PERFECT convergence of expertise, creativity, passion, service, love, and know-how. Eating here was exceptional, and a true pleasure. I can’t say enough good things.

This is a seriously lovely place to spend your morning. Overlooking the water, Sunnyside reminds you why Rhode Island is called the«Ocean State.» Don’t laugh, it’s easy to forget when you live in Providence! We were seated immediately even though it was Saturday at noon. Honestly, I was shocked when the hostess said, «right this way.» I guess I have spent too many Saturdays waiting for a table to open up at Julians. No longer! First came the complimentary carrot cake with blueberry and apricot jam. So so good. I only wish they gave you more! Then we had the grilled grapefruit with honey, which was also delicious. Why don’t more brunch places serve this? It was the perfect combination of sour and sweet. For our main courses, we had the poached eggs with grits and the crab cakes with eggs. The eggs were well cooked but the grits were pretty bland… I probably wouldn’t get this again. The crab cakes and eggs were great though, as was the lemon Hollandaise they put on top. We saw many Dutch Babies with fruit coming out of the kitchen and those looked amazing. So, why not five stars? Three reasons. First, service was only average. They weren’t rude, but no one was especially friendly either. Second, there is only one bathroom for the entire restaurant(!!!), and I thought it was kinda grimy. Third, the hours are not super convenient. They only stay open until 1 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. And if you’re not local, be sure to check their website before you head over. On two separate occasions we tried to go only to find out they were closing early. Oh, and despite what Unilocal says, they do not take reservations. Still, I think Sunnyside has five star potential. I’ll definitely be back.

I now know a handful of people who find sunnyside to be the single best brunch experience in the entire(expansive) state of rhode island. I may even fathom to go one step further… this may be my favorite brunch place in all of new england. Here’s my haiku of pleasant surprises and lovely moments from this transcendent brunch experience: Sunnyside Ocean views Streaming smiles from Wondrously friendly staff Complimentary banana bread And jam to share Fresh OJ Chourico hash Hollandaise Sunnybliss Seriously though, the chourico hash may be one of the best breakfast meals I’ve ever had. It was SO wonderfully seasoned, extremely well-mixed, amazingly satisfying. I have been craving it ever since… I definitely plan on making the trek back out to Warren for some more sunnyside first chance I get.

Ohh how did I not discover this place sooner? Hands down one of the best brunch places I’ve ever been to. The crushed-shell driveway leading down to the water’s edge and restaurant entrance creates anticipation for a wonderful experience to follow. Inside, it’s lined with windows such that any table in the main dining area provides a beautiful view. The interior is bright and airy. and I can’t imagine that the dining experience as a whole will be anything but nicer when the weather allows for outdoor seating. The menu itself is really diverse and I got the sense when looking through the various options as well as the plates of the guests around me that I really couldn’t go wrong with whatever I picked. That being said, I went with my go-to dish, the eggs benedict(or in this case, the smoked salmon benedict). Served on a bed of roasted potatoes, this succulent combination of thinly-sliced salmon, crisp greens, and fresh eggs was nothing short of amazing. The banana bread and jam served before our main breakfast options were also a nice touch. Other positive points: Our service was great. Dishes were served promptly. And our bartender/waitress was polite, friendly, helpful,(and cute). For all the above, I can’t wait to go back. (unrelated.but they also have free wi-fi!) Also, couple words of advice: come early because this place fills up.

*Disclaimer — I have only been to cooking classes here. For some reason I’ve never made it for brunch or lunch. The cooking classes are fantastic. Joe has a great personality and is very informative. It’s very easy going and you are encouraged to ask questions. You don’t actually cook the food yourself, he cooks while walking you through all the steps and ingredients. You are provided with a pencil and print outs of all the recipes so you can take notes. I have learned a lot of great general cooking tips from Joe. Wine is included and you get samples of everything he is making. The last class I went to was«Indoor Tailgating» and I’ve made the recipes at home over and over again. I can’t wait for another class or to actually have brunch/lunch here. Great time, highly recommend!

I have been on Unilocal for years and have never written a review. This place is that good that it warrants my very first review. First of all, the location is amazing! Right on the water and the restaurant itself has windows everywhere. The inside it bright and cozy feeling with a nice open kitchen. The service is awesome, our waitress(forgot her name) was friendly, quick and gave great recommendations. Now onto the food… they start you off with some complimentary muffins served with fresh jam(the best jam I have ever tasted) and some local honey. It was a great start to an awesome meal. Then I ordered the baked eggs with the gluten free toast and my husband ordered the steak and eggs. My baked eggs were cooked to perfection and the home fries that came with it were awesome, they had sweet potatoes in them. The gluten free toast they served was also one of the best I’ve had. My husband’s steak was cooked perfect, nice and pink and the meal was served with what I can only call a genius’s rendition of hollandaise sauce. It was rich and buttery but had a lemon taste to it, seriously delicious. I ended up stealing the sauce from my husband and dipping my home fries in it, it was that good! We ordered some drinks too. My husband had a regular coffee which he enjoyed and I ordered the Sunnyside Fizz which was sooo good! It was refreshing and light. I also order the Greek Frappé which also did not disappoint. This was honestly one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. There are not enough good things to say about Sunnyside. And when we were walking out the chef came up to us to ask how our meal was and to say good-bye. I will definitely be going back again and again!

Deliciousness. Everything was wonderful and fresh. The service was great. I would give it 5 stars, but there seemed to be some confusion happening at the hostess station and we waited almost 30 minutes despite having a reservation. It was worth the wait. I highly recommend the wood grilled Grapefruit with honey. I had the steak and eggs and loved it. My friend had the fish tacos – she enjoyed them. I tried her salsa verde and it was wonderfully fresh so I used it with my steak and eggs. My other friend had the Portuguese French Toast which I didn’t try, but I assume since he ate every bite it was great. We ate on the deck and enjoyed a great view of the bay.

I enjoyed lunch at Sunnyside for the first time during a fun work brunch. What a wonderful experience! We were a group of 13 who showed up in groups. As the hostess brought our first group through the dining room to our spot on the deck we were able to check out the open kitchen and the delicious looking food that was being prepared. In addition the Chef/Owner stopped us to specifically thank us for choosing his restaurant. When we got to our table we thought it might be a little small for our large group so we asked if we could add one more table, which the hostess immediately did! Even though it was a gray day, you can’t beat the view of the water. Our server did a great job getting us set up with water and drinks while we waited for the rest of the party to join us. We were given baskets of blueberry cornbread with homemade preserves to start with which were delicious! I tried the smoked salmon«carpaccio» which was delicious! For my meal I ordered the Blackbird Farm burger and I was not disappointed. The burger was so juicy. the onions and bacon were cooked to perfection and they serve it on bolo! When it was time for dessert I noticed that there was butterscotch pudding on the menu. I love homemade butterscotch pudding but rarely ever see it out. When I ordered it the server pretty much said it was so amazing that I would die. She was right. It was an amazing dessert. I am looking forward to my next trip here!

Bright and airy, by the water + yummy food and people that really care about your dining experience = AWESOMENESS. My lovely GF started w/the wood-fired grapefruit with local honey. Yum. Cornbread with house-made jams(peach and strawberry). Yum A dutch baby filled to the brim with fresh berries and other assorted fruit — which for her reminded her of Christmas mornings w/her family in WA. .. and I got the burger. Okay, I’ll say this — I’m a bit of a West Coast burger purist acclimatizing to East Coast honk’n patties. .. and certainly have developed a taste and appreciation for both. So while the meat was fresh, local and well seasoned, the bun to meat ratio was so far off that it made it impossible to pick up — like a 10oz patty on a flat brioche bun the size of a flattened english muffin. This was a knife and fork burger. Tasty, but not quite the satisfying pick-up-with-both-hands-and-sink-your-teeth-into experience I was looking for. The pickeled vegetables were a nice touch. The service was exceptional. I made a face when I went in for the grab and found my hands covered in meat juice(delicious meat juice) and our waitress was *RIGHT* there asking me if the burger was cooked to my liking. .. which it was, just not my prefered meat to bun ratio. So I switched to knife and fork and continued my eating. All in all, I’m really looking forward to going again and maybe next time I’ll get the fish tacos.

I live this place! Great views, service, and food. The specials are always so good it makes it hard to order off the menu, which is great to begin with. Everything is always fresh and the coffee is delicious. Great breakfast places are hard to come by and this one is worth the drive!

The Sunnyside is the kind of place that you want to share with friends and out-of-towners because it is such an *experience* of place — the crushed shells in the driveway, the water, a beautifully building that shows off the gorgeous RI setting, not just with windows but with a simple white-and-wood, elegant, relaxed style. There’s been a wait for a table each of the three times I’ve been for breakfast on weekends, even at 9AM, but the Sunnyside so got it right — instead of having guests cram at the door, staring down the lingering diners(in the winter) they invite you into the lounge area to hang out by carafes of New Harvest coffee. The food is wonderful — a quickbread teaser with homemade jams while you wait, Eggs Divorciados like a little bento box of sauces, eggs and hash, and so many tasty specials with local ingredients deciding is impossible. I have ordered a stuffed pancake special that was a bit too doughy and overstuffed with nuts for my taste. The prices are higher than you’d spend for a breakfast at most places, but it’s worth every cent. There is an open kitchen running alongside the dining room. The chef and cooks are so friendly, as busy as they are running around, they always smile and say«hi», even chat a bit when they can.

This review has been a long time coming. I have been to Sunnyside at least 6 – 8 times since moving to RI in 2008, and it is probably my favorite restaurant I’ve found. Not to say it is the absolute best if I were speaking purely in terms of food, but in terms of value, consistency, charm, and quality, it is the best I’ve found. It is hard to put my finger on what makes it so great. The water, the sunlight, the local ingredients, the Portugese influences on the menu. The lack of pretense at serving hot dogs and Sicilian pulled pork sandwiched with capers and almonds side by side. I have yet to have a meal that is bad, and I look forward to it every time. My favorite dish is probably the baked french toast with almonds and raisins. Had a burger today on a Portuguese bolo levedo that was outstanding and very messy. Super juicy burger, smoky local bacon… mmmm. My favorite Sunnyside experience was after a morning of fishing out on Narraganset Bay with a friend. We came up skunked but hungry and pulled the boat right up to Sunnyside’s dock for a pork chop and egg breakfast that was fantastic. We were dirty and smelly, but felt right at home eating next to coiffed folks have a lobster eggs benedict dish with a mimosa. That says a lot about Sunnyside.
