Didn’t love this place on my first visit on a recent Friday evening, but glad there is a Mexican restaurant in town. The guy working here was nice and attentive and generous with the refills. Chips and salsa are free, but the chips tasted a tad stale and the salsa saucy(i.e. not chunky) and served in small bowls that made it difficult for dipping. My chicken fajitas were served on a sizzling hot plate and heavy on overcooked veggies(but yay for mushrooms!). Refried beans were okay, rice on the greasy side and the flour tortillas reminded me out of cheap generic ones from the grocery store. Price wise, dinners were a few dollars more than I’m used to paying at Mexican restaurants. I sat at a booth a few away from the entrance and was cold most of the night. I like how they have options for hot sauce… besides the basic Tapatio, they offer a green sauce(tomatillo?) that comes in a small bowl.

Great prices, the meal I had was just average. To have a Mexican restaurant in Warrenton is a big deal though. Salsa was all right.

Loved the cheese enchilada with green sauce, Salsa was good and loved the guacamole. I’m from AZ and recently moved to the area. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to find good Mexican food, but I love this place. Service was great too! Very nice people.

Return visit– it is trending down. Pollo asado was very dry. Chicken enchilada ordered but beef was brought-so glad I checked it prior to eating. Salsa is the ketchup like kind. I spent mucho anos in Tejas so maybe I’m longing for more authentic Mexican food. Wait staff friendly enough.

I’ve never really been a fan of this Mexican establishment, but it’s rather close and convenient for a quick bite. I praise their salsa Cuz it’s very delicious that being said there isn’t much else to say about this eatery. I do enjoy being waited on when the younger gentlemen is working he is friendly and very attentive. The food is a step above Taco Bell and I honestly wish we had gone their instead of this place. Maybe if we had my husband wouldn’t have ended up with digestive issues.

Sometimes you have to give a place a second chance and El Compadre is an example of that wisdom. In the disappointing selection of Mexican eateries we have in our coastal region, we had finally settled on Casa Del Sol in Seaside for when we are in S. Clatsop County and Plaza Jalisco for N. Clatsop County… well Plaza Jalisco finally sunk to a level that was beyond supporting in our eyes. We needed a backup place for closer to home. Late on a Friday night and laziness prompted me into exercising some past forgiveness on a poor first impression and give El Compadre another shot. The place was pretty dead, but they were open and we were there. The first test — chips and salsa. Warm, crisp, not homemade, but good. Salsa was flavourful and like I like it… saucy, not chunky. I don’t mind salsa fresca on things, but I like to dip my chips in more of a sauce. So they passed the first test. Second test — Iced tea. Fresh, and strong. Not that glorified kool-aid crap they try to pass of as tea. I am Irish and know tea, so don’t pee in a cup and add fake fruit flavour and try to tell me its tea. So far so good. Now the food. Prices pretty good for what it is. Food was flavourful and typical for the Mexican food they offer in these parts. Pre-made taco shells, reddish meat, greasy, and out of a can or a box. Pretty much like a Taco Bell with table service and all you can eat chips and salsa really. Tortillas are damn cheap, as is canola oil… why can’t places fry their own chips and make their taco shells fresh? I have been to many places that can and do? For some reason, places are so damn lazy in their food quality and prep. Just so frustrating. I would be ashamed if I were of Mexican heritage and served that pre-fab junk. Service was attentive and friendly. So for now, we have our spot for«Mexican» food. Still waiting for something better to come along, but with little hope.

The outside appearance is somewhat deceiving. Inside, we found a pleasant, clean and colorful restaurant. The food was fast and good quality.
