Absolutely delicious wines! Haven’t found another winery with such aged wines. The owners and staff are extremely friendly. Looking forward to coming back again. Definitely one of my favorites!

Fun tasting. Megan was funny and knowledgeable. It was a cool atmosphere. Lots of handmade and really cool furniture by the winery owner. Definitely a place to check out. They will sample more than the 10 available on the tasting list. Tasting is $ 15 for 10+

The Popadopolis(sp?) family offers a lovely setting for a afternoon relaxing setting, unfortunately their wine doesn’t quite match up.

My husband and I stopped here last Tuesday and had a lovely time! We were pleasantly surprised, seeing as how we frequently visit wineries but hadn’t heard of this one(nor do I recall ever seeing it at any local wine festivals). The atmosphere was very pleasant and we really enjoyed the wines! Their moscato was very unique — we are not sweet wine people at all, but were so impressed that we bought a bottle! We were the only customers there on a Tuesday late morning(not surprising!) and the owner walked us through a very informative tasting, plus gave us a tour of the winery and some extra wine tastings! They also provided a small cheese plate(complimentary) which went well with a few of the wines. This was probably one of our favorite winery visits in VA due to the personalized attention and unique wines!

The people that make the wine makes it even better… A vacation to Greece… right around the corner.

Enjoyed there wines. The tasting however was a waste of money. You barely had enough wine to bring out the flavor or scents that they want you to pick up. Not worth the 10 dollars for the tasting fee.

I’m very surprised to read the negative reviews about the wine. My mom and I came in this past weekend and loved our experience. We knew we wanted a white wine and the server let us taste the Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio(both were excellent — we prefer dry, oaky wines). We ended up choosing the Chardonnay($ 28 dollars which is a little pricey, but definitely worth it). We also received a complimentary cheese and cracker plate as well as 10% off for Father’s Day. We sat outside and enjoyed the lovely view. We will definitely be back!

We came April 18th to an extremely busy quaint tasting room. I was worried and wasn’t sure we could get in, but we were promptly greeted and told where to look for an opening at a certain area at the bar. The girl who greeted us didn’t do out tasting but made a point to keep checking on us! I’m so glad we didn’t leave! What a gem of a winery ! Tons of selection so your bound to find something you like. We left with the chambourcin, cab sav, and the most unique Moscato we have ever had! It’s not sweet! The staff seemed friendly and knowledgeable and didn’t mind answering some of our silly questions! Free OLIVEOIL tasting too! We also took home a bottle of garlic olive oil! We will be back with picnic in tow!!!

I really wanted to like this place. It sounded like a good deal and I love supporting small family businesses, but I was completely unimpressed. The wine was terrible, I did not like any of them. After sampling two of the wines, I regretted the wine tasting, but hoped that it could only get better. The entire time I was there, the server seemed upset and like she did not want to be there, which made me want to leave as well. Also, I had read in one of the reviews that they had free olives with the sample which was untrue, instead they had crackers and a bit of cheese. It is not worth the $ 5. Save the money and the trip to go to another vineyard!

This is a lovely winery off the beaten track(gps helped get us here and there is another winery nearby to make it worth your trip). Roads were all in good condition. The directions are also written on their website. We loved this place with beautiful views overlooking the vineyards. The wine tasting was $ 5 for 5 whites, 5 Reds, and 2 dessert wines. We loved the Pinot Gris and Cabernet. Our severer was a lovely Greek grandmother, who was very personable and informative. They use only their own grapes from the property. Most wines were single grape varietal with only a couple blends. They also boast that their wines tend to be drier than others because of no added sweetness. As I’ve said before the server makes all the difference– this was a great experience — recommend.

The wine wasn’t even drinkable. The tasting is $ 5 which is cheap but given how bad the wine was, they should have paid us to try it. The girl doing our tasting spent more time talking to a loud drunk girl, than doing our tasting. She was going to rinse out our glasses with water in between the whites and reds which is a big no no. The wines were so bad maybe the water would have helped? Cobwebs and light bulbs out in the bathroom, two thumbs down.

This place had terrible wine. I didn’t like anything really, and I tried 12 pours if white, red, dessert, and port wine. The port was the best because we were given chocolate to eat it with. This place is a bargain, with all those tastings being for $ 5, and it’s right next to Marterella, but I wouldn’t go out of your way to come here.

Not my favorite style of wine(nor my guests FWIW), I’ve had similar wines from Greece and Lebanon. But you might enjoy it. I prefer the California and French wine styles. The tasting was handled well and the facilities were very good.

I’m from California and I have never tasted wine like this! Very Greek style place, beautiful view and Miss Katie was amazing. Miss Katie treated us like first class and every wine that she poured we were given a full education. Most servers are not as educated as Miss Katie, her style is first class, and is should be the way how every winery should pour. Virginia alone does a great alone with the white wines. There award winning Chardonny was great but they also have many greek style wine that you have never tasted before. I bought there port wine because it was very delicious. Whenever I come to Virginia I will stop by here again for the first class service and the unique wine.

I went to Mediterranean Cellars this past weekend with about 15 friends as part of a wine tour for a celebration of birthdays, engagements, graduations, etc. While the tasting started off nicely, a man whom I can only assume was the owner, came over and VERY rudely told(not asked) us to quiet down. There was another large group tasting at the time which apparently was too much for him to handle and he took it out on our group. If you know you are having large groups, perhaps separate them out or do them in different locations. They certainly had the space! While the wines were pretty decent, it really soured our experience and left a very negative taste in our mouths and we very quickly wanted to leave. While the other staff was receptive to our feedback on the negative experience, we felt extremely unwelcome. We visited three VA vineyards and felt very welcome and accommodated at the other two. But Mediterranean Cellars was without a doubt the least favorite. Bottom line: This vineyard isn’t the hospitable type if that’s what you’re looking for. Would warn against going, especially in large groups!

Pros: Family owned and operated, beautiful area, good view, many wines, generous pours Cons: Average atmosphere in tasting room, newer staff I decided to check out this winery after finding out that it’s family owned and operated by the same Papadopoulos family which also owns and operates the Molon Lave Vineyards. Overview: Located in Fauquier County, Mediterranean Cellars Winery is just about 5 miles Northwest a Warrenton, Virginia. Family-owned and operated, by the Papadopoulos family, with over forty years of wine-making experience. The property has been owned for 25 years, and opened the winery in 2003, crafting hand-made classic and regional varietals. The tasting room combines an «old world» atmosphere and breathtaking views from our comfortable patio. My experience: It was a little cold and windy the day I visited, which was unfortunate due to the area and outside seating and views providing a relaxing outside experience. I was glad to have the nice drive off of a main road, it made the feeling of an actual winery and left the busy and rushed feeling behind. The exterior of the winery was decorated to give you the feel of the Greek family, yet not overwhelming. The interior was a little more plain then I imagined but still provided the comfortable tasting room experience. I was greeted by Leah Papadopoulos and Birgitta. It was earlier in the day on a Friday, the winery only had one other couple there and they were getting ready to leave, which I was happy to have the tasting room with little distractions to myself. Birgitta was newer to the winery, she was very friendly and seemed to have a passion for the wines she was learning about and serving. Although she worked off some of the notes she had written down, she was able to describe them well and the pours were very generous :) I was hoping to have the tasting provided by Leah to learn more about the history first hand, but I enjoyed the tasting non-the-less. The wines had a unique feel and taste to them, definitely tribute to the Greek family style and traditions of the winemaker. They have a good variety of whites and reds, with a few sweeter style wines, to include Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Moscato(not sweet), Viognier, Chambourcin, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and two other sweeter style. Overall, I liked most of the wines but I was hoping for a few more unique type wines, like Molon Lave had. Overall: I would recommend this winery. The location is a nice relaxing area, away from the highway. The area surrounding and inside the winery provides a good feel, but not as great as other wineries offer. Although Birgitta was newer to serving, she provided a great experience and good pours throughout the tasting. The wines are pretty good and I would definitely return for a few glasses or bottle of a few favorites, although I will say they may not stand to the level of other wineries in the area. If for some reason you don’t favor the wines, there’s another winery eyesight from this one. However, the Papadopoulos family has two great wineries established, and I would love to have another one to visit!

Superb Winery/Vineyard! I got heavy into wines while living in Germany for almost 4 years surrounded by award winning vineyards. I was stoked to move to Haymarket and be close to wineries. I love Mediterranean Cellars Winery. The small family business, culture, history, dedication, old traditions … it goes on and on why I love this place. The wine was great and they have a good variety of flavors. I am surprised to see this winery keeps it old school and the tradition alive. I joined their wine club and can’t wait to go pick up this months bottles! Too many businesses fore go the extra attention to detail and hard work it requires to make their business personal and traditional. The view is spectacular and I can see myself drinking more wine. Maybe too much more!

Went with a few friends. Loved the look of the place, very beautiful. Thought the tasting price was very reasonable. Did find two wines that we liked a lot and bought a bottle to drink there. We were able to bring in our own snacks and enjoyed our wine on the patio overlooking the vineyard. One of the better wineries that we have been to and will definitely visit there again.

This is a little, family owned winery that’s got such a great personality. Everyone there is very knowledgeable about the wines and they’re all very courteous and helpful. The sad part about this whole experience is that my husband and I did not like their wines at all. Everything had a bouquet and taste of pine needles. The earthiness, pine taste and flowers weren’t a mixture that we could appreciate. We really wanted to like this winery, but it definitely wasn’t for us.

We really had a great time visiting this winery. The staff and the Papadopoulos family made the experience all that much better. First off, the scenery is gorgeous… very lush and green with a cute little farm in the view from the patio. The wines were pretty good, although not my favorite of VA wineries. They did some cheese pairings and told lots of fun stories. You get to taste quite a few wines here for the tasting fee… many more than most other wineries in the area. I think just chatting with them made the wine even better for me. They have a unique wine there that I have never had in VA wine country or any other wine country that I’ve been to for that matter. It’s called Rechina. I actually did not like it at all, which is likely the reason why they are the only winery in the US to make it, but it was fun to taste something so very different from any other wine I have ever had. It’s supposedly a Greek wine. The wines I did enjoy were the Matina’s Rose and the Cab Franc. This place is definitely worth a visit for the fun experience and unique flavors!
