Great crab rangoon, fried chicken wings and szechuan beef.

Extremely disappointed with this place. Very expensive for what you get compared to the competition. Food was sub par. Wonton soup just tastes like hot water and portions are small. Egg rolls were good and general tsos was ok but prices are crazy for the portions you receive

Working in West County, I have passed by King Doh a number of times over the years and never really given any thought to stopping by however I decided to give it a try when passing by one weekend. It was about 5pm on a Sunday, so I didn’t know what to expect. I walked in and was quickly greeted by a friendly hostess, and a very different style restaurant. Service was warm, welcoming and extremely friendly. Our waitress was on top of her game and made sure that we never had an empty glass, without being overly pushy. As far as the food goes we started off with the Crab Rangoon, which was great you could actually see crab meat inside which is usually rare. I went with orange chicken, which was good it was served with green peppers, onions, peas, carrots, hot red pepper and orange seasoning. Prices were slightly higher than comparable restaurants, however not by much. Overall I was pleased with my meal, and even had leftovers to take home. Overall King Doh is a good option in the area for decent Chinese food. Solid 3.5 Star review.

The food’s still tasty and feels like it’s made with higher-quality ingredients than most strip mall Chinese restaurants. BUT… last night we were feeling lazy and decided to order food for delivery. 4 chicken dishes and a few appetizers later, we were hit with a whopping $ 80 bill — delivery tip not included. The food is good… but it’s not THAT good. Maybe it’s time to start looking for new, local options.

Food is always hot, delicious and the portions are huge! Best won tons in town by far and my vegetarian friend has plenty of delicious options also! Service is lack luster sometimes but always good food!

This is everything I look for in a classic Chinese American restaurant. This is NOT chop suey. Most details are made by hand and with love. The menu and décor are straight outta 1978(literally), and that’s a good thing.

My date and I were not served after fifteen to twenty minutes of waiting. No drink orders. No food orders. Server checked on other tables around us and went about refilling soy sauce bottles etc. Server plainly walked by us. The restaurant had a nice decorum and a lengthy menu, however we were not able to try anything. Hopefully this was not a racial issue and just a serving error. The restaurant was not busy enough at the time to warrant a lack of service.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in St Louis. Awesome food but slow service. It definitely worth the wait!!!

Had lunch here with girlfriends who recommended it. The lunch menu is plentiful with lots of veggie, chicken, beef, pork and seafood dishes. Lunch comes with choice of soup, 1 crab rang and 1 wonton. I had the sesame beef and it was the best I’ve ever had. Crispy, hot and flavorful with a fair amount of sauce and scallions. The fried rice complemented the beef nicely but would probably taste too bland as a stand alone dish. The crab Rangoon were crazy good! However the wonton was very weird. All that plus a drink for less than $ 10. Atmosphere: the interior is traditionally decorated with lots of aquariums. However very dark, too formal and we were the only table for a 2 hr lunch. Nevertheless — I’ll be back! Still thinking about that sesame beef!

First time the other night, ordered take out: Egg rolls, chicken fried rice and moo shoo chicken(without mushrooms). Egg rolls were mushy inside to me. Chicken fried rice was only a «fair» because many of the chicken pieces were very suspect(aka fatty, dark). Moo shoo had way more egg and onions than chicken. It was fair/good but we would not order it again. We probably will try it one more time and get different items, but the first time was very disappointing.

I’m from Springfield, MO and we take our Chinese food seriously down there! :) This place is by far my favorite in St. Louis and it has been hard to find a good one. I had the General Tso’s chicken and it’s was DELICIOUS. Every bite of chicken was crispy and delicious– no weird rubber chicken bites you inevitably get at most places. We will definitely be regulars here.

This place isn’t what it used to be. First we ordered the sizzling rice soup. The soup broth tasted like water. It seemed like the broth had been watered down. We ordered cashew chicken and yu shian pork. First I will acknowledge that the pork dish was good. The cashew chicken sauce was very starchy, it was gross. I ordered a 7&7. This drink is Seagrams 7 and 7up. The drink was served and it was dark brown. I thought at first that it was just a super strong drink. The drink was not strong, in fact it was weak. Why was it uncharacteristically brown? They are adding something to their booze to make it last longer. These people are watering down everything except for the starchy, nasty sauce. Then the real whopper: the drink was $ 6.25 and they charged me $ 1 extra for the 7up! Really? $ 7.25 for an adulterated drink. Let’s talk about the décor. When you sit down in a booth you sink down about a foot. If you like the feeling of a spring poking your ass, this place is for you. We saw where a scarf had fallen down between the wall and the booth seat. The scarf was caked with dust and food that had fallen down there too. This place needs to be gutted and the people who run it need to be in a different business

Food is ok but the service is terrible. Get ready to assemble your own moo shu. Carry out is even worse. If they say 20 minutes get ready to wait for over an hour. It’s happened twice to us and we will not be back. Beware!

We ate at King Doh’s on a Saturday night. When we arrived, the restaurant was mostly empty, but it filled up quickly. The hot and sour soup was excellent(though my husband wished it was spicier), and we both enjoyed the pot stickers(add vinegar to them – it’s good!). Entrees: I had General Tso’s, which came in a good sized portion, and my husband had Szechuan beef, which came in a huge potion. We definitely had leftovers. Service was great, prices matched the portions, and the ambiance is a bit nicer than your typical Chinese restaurant. We’ll be back.

Very good food and as far as the service goes … It was very good! If you asked a question they were knowledgeable and friendly. The potstickers were probably the best restaurant potstickers I’ve had. The food was fresh and tasty!

I was in Saint Louis and was craving Chinese. This place had great reviews and delivered to my hotel. It arrived very quickly and was piping hot. However, I was disappointed in the flavor. I got crab Rangoon(can’t mess that up) and beef fried rice. The rice had little to no flavor. I definitely wouldn’t go back to this restaurant to satisfy another Chinese craving.

FINALLY good Chinese food in St. Louis. I have been on one hell of an emotional roller coaster trying and despising Chinese food in the area. Everything has been extremely underwhelming(or even gross) until now. I got takeout from King Doh on a Saturday night… and then the following Sunday night again. Haha. Don’t judge. General tso shrimp was battered well and tasty. Great sauce. Probably would have been crispier if I had eaten it there instead of ordering takeout — sitting in the container for 15 – 20 minutes resulted in it being a liiiittle soggy, but that’s not their fault. The fried rice was great, full of fresh vegetables. Potstickers were pretty good. Crab rangoon was great. Hot braised chicken is a real winner! Shrimp lo mein was also good. Everything was super fresh, great ingredients, no shortcuts. This is my new spot, for sure!

After a fun filled Christmas day with my family, I needed to get away to a nice dinner. Megan A. mentioned in the talk threads that this place is open on Christmas so I stopped in. First let me say there was a decent wait on Christmas night. The parking lot was PACKED. I passed two other open Chinese places in Rock Hill on the way here and neither were near as busy. I’ve eaten here before. The food is usually good, although the last time I came there was a lunch buffet and it was just average. This time the girlfriend and I started with the rum punch for two and potstickers as an appetizers. The rum punch is super good and strong. The potstickers have great flavor… i just wished there was more filling. For dinner she had sweet & sour chicken and I had the Bul Go Gi(which I thought was actually Korean). Either way, her dish was good, mine was great. The bulgogi has a really interesting sweet sauce. For dessert we ordered the Mr Fu Man Chu drink(see pic). This one was super strong too… and good, but not as good as the rum punch. Thanks King Doh for a nice Christmas dinner. I’m glad you were busy and I’m glad we decided to wait. Your food & drinks hit the spot.

There is only one place that I can eat Chinese food in St. Louis, and that’s King Doh. The ingredients are fresh and authentic, they have black mushrooms, which are woody and hearty and delicious, unlike their white/button counterparts, and they always get my VERY specific orders right. The woman that usually answers the phone and works the take out desk is very fast, is helpful when you need recommendations, and even knows it’s me when I call(Extra garlic, extra onion, in white sauce? For Megan? Yep it’s me…), which I appreciate. And despite my weird requests, she is always understanding, never acts annoyed, and they always do what I ask. It should be that way everywhere, but you’d be surprised. Which is why I always come back. Also, I’m a vegetarian, and some Chinese restaurants in the area really freak me out with what they use in their sauces, as well as occasionally(accidentally) mixing in a piece of chicken or beef with my dish. And once that happens, I’m just done with you. It isn’t something I can get past mentally. Sorry. I always order the black mushrooms with pea pods, and the black mushrooms with bamboo shoots, both in the white sauce. The bamboo shoots aren’t like anything I have every had before. They are big chunks, not just little slivers. This tells me that they are fresh and authentic, as is everything else at King Doh. Occasionally I get Veggie Lo Mein as well, or Hot Braised Eggplant, because the sauce is soo sweet, tangy, and delicious. I try to stick to 2 things max though(I like variety, and this is a tough task), because this place is a bit pricier than most Chinese places(11 – 12 dollars per item). It’ worth it though. And if you get take out, you can get a card, and they write down how much you spend each time, and when you hit 50 dollars, you get 20% off your next order. That’s a pretty good deal if ya ask me. My fav Chinese food ever is in NC, but King Doh is a close second. And it’s my one and only in the Lou. If I want Chinese food on Monday, when they are closed, I just do without. Until Tuesday, when I’m first in line here.
