Looking for a street bike(commuter). After doing a little bit of ‘window shopping’ we decided on Providence Bicycle because of price and selection. We also brought an older bike in for a much needed tune-up and small repairs. There were two men on staff the day we went and there were no other customers in the store when we arrived. They both greeted us, and asked how they could help. We started w/the bike tune-up. The tech looked it over, asked a few questions and said the tune up and two new tubes would be about $ 90 and he could have it ready in a couple of hours if we wanted it back that soon. We then moved on to the new bike. He asked about type of pavement the commute would cover(tar, crushed stone, etc) and suggested a couple of options with explanations about how the two differed. Both were taken out for a test ride(they provided a helmet) with the seat height adjusted to fit the riders height. We selected one, which they ‘held’ for us, and we ran some other errands while we waited for the tune-up to be complete. When we returned to pick up both bikes, we also picked out some new helmets, and it seems bikes do not come with a kick-stand any more(been a looonnnggg time since we bought a bike) so we added one of those to the bill. Because we purchased a new bike, we were given a discount on the other items purchased. The service was quick, the sales persons polite and we are happy with our purchases. Bikes are a pretty pricey proposition, but we got what we wanted for a lot less than some other shops were offering them and our experience was pleasant and satisfying. If you are in the market for a bike, or bike accessories definitely check them out. Their selection of accessories covers a lot of ground.
