I absolutely love this place. I used to go to eastern market mostly for the jewelry but now I find myself wanting to go for the falafel! The falafel, pita and toppings are always right on point and consistent. I have all my friends hooked on them, too. The gals working the stand are so sweet and helpful. Fun to chat with, also. Two thumbs up!!!

I eat lunch here whenever we are in DC. I found it on accident and now suffer withdrawal pangs if I don’t have falafel. The sides always seem super fresh and the young ladies running the stand are the best. Take their advice on the sauces as some are muy muy picante! And the sweet potato frys are tasty as well!

I was so excited to see this Israeli-style falafel stand! Sababa means«awesome» or «cool» in Hebrew/Arabic. My sister and I practically jumped up & down and screamed with excitement, while my date looked on in horror at our commotion. The falafel here is tasty, the pita is fluffy & perfectly toasted, and there are various sides to add to your falafel: tomato/cucumber salad, hummus, pickled veggies, tahini, spicy red sauce, cilantro/jalapeño sauce, and a mango/cumin sauce. The three women that work this stand are very friendly and very into their falafel. One is Israeli and another was telling me they plan to eventually open a store. I truly hope they do, because their product is great and it would be an awesome addition to the area.

Sababa Market is a little stand in Eastern Market that only appears on Sundays, amongst all of the treasures of the flea market. They have a super simple menu with only one item: a fabulous falafel sandwich that is totally vegan and super fresh. The women that run the stand are so friendly, and rally want to share their perfectly fried Israeli delicacies with the public! Stop by and give them a try, and be sure to taste the pickled baby eggplants– I had never seen them before and now I am hooked!
