I swear I’ve written this update. What happened to it? This wine bar has moved to the second floor as of September/October. It has been converted to a «wine lounge.» Temporary? A long high top table for those wanting to bring laptops and work. Middle area with couches and coffee table for the friends that want to gather, but awkwardly being occupied by a couple that you don’t want to interrupt. Then, the tables for evening dining? The menu is no longer the delish appetizers I looked forward to trying again, but the in-house restaurant du-jour or whomever is doing an occupancy at the time. This time, it was more fine dining($$$). Good, but unexpected. NO. HAPPY. HOUR. Unfortunately, it was a terrible meet up suggestion for happy hour(which i didn’t bother to check since I had a great time the last time at happy hour.) I understand the nature and concept of this place is to change and invite start ups that don’t yet have a brick and mortar, but the drastic change in scenery doesn’t allow you to become loyal. I thought the 4th floor wine bar was a staple and only the first floor would change on a rotating basis?

Love this place, the staff is so friendly and attentive, great selection of interesting wines, Latoya the bartender/wine expert is amazing. The small plates menu changes but is consistenly yummy. If you are lucky to come on a day Latoya has made sangria or even better Jamaican food you are in for a treat. I love to bring friends here, you can relax, enjoy amazing wine and food, what more could you ask for.

This is an absolutely amazing place to get a great(and reasonably priced) glass of wine and some snacks before a movie at E Street or Gallery Place. The bartender is attentive and so fun. She had wonderful suggestions and brought in some amazing cheese and cured meats for happy hour. It was great for happy hour by myself but would be even better with a group of friends.

My friends and I stopped by on a Saturday after dinner, the place was completely empty. This should have been our first clue. We tried a flight of wine and they were horrible! I didn’t even finish them. Most were flat and one dimensional. Based on what LaToya described how they operate, I gathered some of the wines had been open for 1 – 5 days and not properly sealed. Wine does not keep for that long and it gets reflected in the taste. Anybody in the wine industry should know this. LoToya was gracious enough to not charge a corkage fee for one of the wines she opened for our flight… Wait! There was a corkage fee for opening their wine?

After arriving at Brick and Mortar and realizing that the place wasn’t well suited for our tastes, we opted to move our Unilocal Community happy hour to the 4th Floor Wine Bar. This turned out to be a fabulous idea because it was less busy, and definitely money well spent. I won’t go into details about Brick and Mortar. I will say that simply it was a better option to migrate elsewhere. The girls and I had the opportunity to split 3 bottles of wine and champagne and try 2 of their appetizers. We came on a perfect night where they were offering 50% off bottles. We escaped like bandits. Think — 5 of us were there, and we ordered two bottles of Reisling that with regular price would $ 36 a piece, and half of that was off. You couldn’t beat that! The quality of the wines and champagne were on point too. The appetizers that we had the opportunity to share were delicious. My favorite of the two was the blue cheese, short rib, and arugula flat bread called Short Rib and Blue. It was tasty and well balanced. The second app we tried was interesting. I am not sure what the name of it was, but it had hummus, a soft cheese, and tomato something to it with house made ‘chip/cracker/bread’ bites. Forgive me… I can’t remember. As far the menu goes — they have a very extensive wine bar and you can match a cheese platter or salad to accompany it. The menu is vast for a wine bar. We had the pleasure of meeting Jeff, one of the managers; Johann, one of the owners of Prequel; and LaToya was our bartender. LaToya is excellent and also a hoot. She’s hilarious! It was nice to get acquainted with all of them. Ambiance is open and airy. I was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn’t as dark as Brick and Mortar. They’re polar opposites when it comes to atmosphere. This place has couch seating with open windows and bar seating. It was both a date place and pretty casual. Ladies were rolling in from the yoga studio near this establishment to have a glass of bubbly after their grueling workout. It’s anybody’s place. I will definitely be coming back. Undoubtably this could be my new favorite wine bar.

Love this place. Great atmosphere and staff. The wines are outstanding! Artem and Latoya are great! Try the lobster and mango salad!
