A friend and I went in for mani/pedis after work and it wasn’t a great experience. They put us in chairs that were separated by a huge pole so we had to talk through bbm the whole time or shout through this pole. One woman was clearly distracted and finished the pedi super quickly to get the mani over with. My woman seemed ok, she spent time getting rid of calluses and rough areas. The color selection was pretty good but they don’t use toe dividers, they just roll paper towel and thread it between your toes. I also got my eyebrows waxed and she did a pretty good job. We might go back if we don’t have time to go somewhere else since the location is convenient, but I have a feeling we’ll plan ahead and go somewhere better next time.

5th Avenue nails is conveniently located, reasonably-priced and has good service. A lunchtime pedicure was the pick-me-up I needed on this gloomy Friday, and they were able to deliver. My timing wasn’t the best for a walk-in appointment(as is often the case before the weekend in late Spring), but they accommodated me within 15 minutes, did an excellent job — and suggested that I make an appointment next time.

Location is the only thing this salon has going for it. It was the only place I could get a last minute appt for an event last year– what a mistake. We’re talking fungus amongus, kids. It was that 20⁄20 special you have seen all over again.

3.5 stars. You know, 5th Avenue is alright — it’s in my good books. The salon is in a convenient location inside the National Press Club building, quick, clean, relatively inexpensive and their pedicures are totally decent. The people who work there are lovely and friendly and, yes, they do use paper towels rather than real terrycloth ones. My only objection was that the lady who was doing my pedicure was on her cell while she was using the pumice stone, so she rubbed the hell out of my left foot. If given a choice, I’d love to go to Joy’s to enjoy their hot stone massages but, faced with time and monetary constraints, 5th Avenue will do just fine. I went about 10 days ago and my pedicure is still holding up fine.

I’m giving 5th Avenue Nail Salon 3 stars for price, speed, location, and service. It wasn’t the best pedicure I’ve ever had, but it may well have been the best pedicure I’ve had done in under and hour. I was in and out of their salon in 50 minutes, not bad since I needed to squeeze it in over lunch and there are no quick nail places downtown at Metro Center. For $ 30($ 25+ $ 5 tip) I was quite pleased with the results. Its only been 2 days since it was done, so I’m not sure about the durability, but the quality seems good and they had great color selection. The staff was friendly & the space tidy. Did think it was a little weird that instead of using towels & the little space-between-your-toes things, they used paper towels for everything.literally. But thats their perogotive and it didn’t matter to me either way. I did notice at the end while my toes were drying a father walked in with his two young daughters and the staff was just wonderful with them, helping them pick out colors, asking them questions about their mom(who was going to be REALLY jealous of their manicures, hah), etc. It was really great to see that kind of service in the downtown area where the hustle and bustle(particularly in the press building) can be monotonous. I will absolutely be back to give my toes another touch-up. Great price, great service, great location!
