Aaaah I dream of the day when I can afford to buy my furniture here! Forget that, I dream of the day when I can afford to buy a picture frame here.(Cheapest item I found was a 5×7 frame for $ 50…also the cost of my dining room set off Craigslist!) So yeah, this stuff is exxxxpensive. But each piece is like a work of art, and if I could pay the price for it I certainly would. Lots of white and earth tones with pops of silver and the occasional animal print. Shannon did a great job describing what the feel of the pieces, and it’s worth a stop in here just to admire it all even if it’s as wildly out of your price range as it is mine. Then you can go next door to Locolat and drown your sadness in chocolate, like I did — a bite of chocolate for $ 2.50 will seem downright thrifty!

I AMINLOVE… After recently moving to DC from a trendy little neighborhood in Los Angeles, I’ve been — to put it nicely — a bit bored with the furnishings and home décor that seems to be the norm in the District. very old school and conservative, but not in that good kinda of old school way. While taking a walk with the significant other yesterday, we happened upon And Beige. The window display reminded me of something that would be found in Los Feliz or Melrose, so despite being in the red we went in… FANTASTIC! a blend of mid-century with a touch of modern safari and a hint of necromance. Lovely furniture with natural earthy fiber and animal hide gilded with oiled brass rivet, juxtaposed by silver antler candle stick holders supporting extremely tall pillar candles next to Voluspa home fragrance and 19th Century Botanical drawings. Lovely! I wish i could work here and look at the things all day. If your looking for the cutting edge of modern home décor or some amazingly lovely smelling candles, do stop by And Beige!

This high end furniture and home décor store(who am I kidding– it is like a showroom/boutique) recently opened on Florida and 17th. The owner, Daren(yes, with one«r») is a trip and a half. The stuff in here is niiiiice. I was eying a lovely buffet built out of dark, cherry wood and had curved ornamentation on the doors. That was until I saw the 3 thousand(!) dollar price tag. The furnishings sold here definitely skew modern, and there is certainly some really nice, high quality stuff. Just know that the price matches the chic and high end materials that are used.
