alright, here’s my experience with this place: i think angelico’s pizza is the best local option for delivery pizza. when they make the food properly, i find that its in an entirely different league than the dominos/pizza hut/papa johns type of crap. if you get carryout, i doubt you’ll be disappointed. when i make the effort to walk a few blocks to go pick up my order, its always correct, properly cooked, and i have nothing to complain about. the guys at the counter are really nice, and i’ve never had a bad carryout experience so far. for some reason, delivery is a totally different experience. i dont know if they are short on drivers, or generally overloaded with orders around dinnertime, but i’m frequently VERY disappointed when i order delivery from angelico. 50% of the time, the pizza arrives totally undercooked and disgusting. i dont bother ordering things like parmesan and pepper flake sides anymore because they always forget them(and never offer to refund the $ 1 charge for those items). i dont know what the hell is going on. based on my experiences, im assuming they rush the cooking process so the driver can take more orders at once. undercooked pizza with soggy dough and cheese that isnt fully melted… well, thats one of lifes biggest culinary tragedies. short version: dont bother with delivery if you live within 5 – 10 mins walking distance. choose carry out and you’ll get better food & service.

Decent for a cheap meal that’s feeling. I had the Italian feast sandwich and chips. I wasn’t in the mood for pizza so I opted for that. It was decent. May order again when good options are slim.

I really like this place. Good pizza is hard to find in DC and while the wait times for delivery can be well over an hour, the pizza itself is very good.

Ordered from them 3 times… first time was OK. The last(and final time), delivery took 1.5 hours and the pizza was raw. Totally gross and never ordering from them again.

The service was fantastic when the tall foreign young man was running the place as the supervisor pretty much 247 every time I went there. He was so nice, friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating to customers. I thought he was the main manager, but now I haven’t seen him work there for a few months and now the service is not as good. The other supervisors seem cheap. They don’t even tell you about the coupons when you order if you forget to mention that there is one(or if you do not know about them!)

The food was okay. The service received from the delivery person was not, however. When I ordered it from the food apps, it said I would receive the food within 45 – 55 minutes. It was 20 minutes after we were supposed to receive the food, by the time the delivery person dropped off the pizza. He forgot the fusilli. When I showed him my online receipt that showed I was supposed to receive it, he said that he would have to call the restaurant to check on it. He then went to his car and left in a hurry. I had to call the restaurant directly, and wait another 20 some minutes before they delivered it. All in all,

You know those TV ads for DiGiorno frozen pizza, the ones that imply it tastes just as good as delivery? I’ve always thought those were completely absurd, and frankly insulting to actual pizza restaurants, but with Angelico it just might be accurate. I used to order from this place regularly when I lived in the neighborhood, and it was the kind of pizza that goes well with football and a tight budget. I had the occasion to order from them again recently and although my pizza recall isn’t total, it did feel like the quality had slipped a bit. The sauce is too sweet and tastes like it came from a jar, and the crust just isn’t very satisfying, not quite crispy but not quite chewy, just kind of blah. The cheese and toppings are par for the course, and overall the whole pie is average at best. My address has changed from Mount Pleasant and my budget is slightly higher now, so Angelico isn’t really on my radar very often. Most of the time if I’m visiting friends nearby we order from Radius or Pete’s New Haven, and I’d have to recommend that you do too, but Angelico is still passable pizza if you just want something quick and cheap for your football party.

F*CKYOUANGELICOS! This is my second review of this Angelico’s. Last time I gave them a bad review, a couple of months later I got an email from the owner offering a $ 20 gift card if I would give them a second change. Well I picked up the gift card and never used it. Last night, my friend insisted that we order from there. I acquiesced and ordered a prosciutto personal sized pizza, while they had the meat calzone. I didn’t even use their gift card so as not to skew the results. What I received was the nastiest stillborn piece of slop ever: A messy half-assed goop of cheese and prosciutto cubes,(that’s right prosciutto CUBES) that wasn’t even properly baked. It was a 10″ pizza, how could it be undercooked?! All I could do was eat the center not even touch to the crust it was such a sad affair. Ok, well at least my friend’s meat calzone was ok, right? Wrong, it was also undercooked and it had no ricotta cheese in it. Imagine that? A calzone with no ricotta, what the hell are they smoking at Angelicos. I gave them another chance and they couldn’t even correct their mistake, shame on you Angelico’s. If you want to make amends give me a gift card to another restaurant, hell even MacDonalds would be better than your crap. NEVERAGAIN!

I live in the neighborhood and have avoided ordering from here due to other reviews. But at 1215am before going out of town and your fridge is empty but you’re famished… This place is open and delivers. I ordered online. They never gave me a time in my confirmation. Then with only a few minutes until 130 a man delivers my food(over an HOUR). The delivery man was fine. As pleasant as one could be for delivering food at 130am. I ordered fettuccini Alfredo and mozzarella sticks. Now, I will add I’m somewhat nose in the air regarding Italian… But I wasn’t expecting my grandmothers white sauce recipe going into this. FOODWASAWFUL! My mozzarella sticks were cold and soggy as all hell. The pasta was hotter than the Middle East in summer and so overdone with garlic. It was essentially eating molten lava made of oil and garlic. Gross. Bad. Never ordering from here again.

I’m giving them 2 stars because I do enjoy the pizza here, but it seems their service has gone down hill. The last time I ordered my favorite pizza sausage, mushroom & prosciutto, the pieces of prosciutto looked like large slabs of ham. OMG! I was very disgusted. Today I ordered meat lasagna and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The meat in the lasagna is plain ground beef with out sauce UGH. And the taste of the marinara is so overwhelming I couldn’t get past the first bite. The fettuccine turned out to be linguine in a very thick Alfredo sauce. Angelico’s food is no longer on my list for take out.

I used to like this place but today’s experience is the straw that broke the camel’s back. This place has been going downhill for a while but they made good food and I let it slide. Well, no more. Today they managed to mess up twice. I ordered a white pizza with one topping and a fusilli. The pizza came without the topping and kind of cold, the fusilli dish was half empty and pretty sad looking. I called to see if I could get the pizza replaced(I did not push it with the fusilli), they told me they were going to send me the correct pizza. After an hour and a half of not getting anything I called them and they told me that the driver forgot the order and that they did not have it(which one, I don’t know). Anyhow, this experience left me disappointed and hungry. To their credit, they did refund me the money.

So far, thanks to a little charity on my part and my fathers, I was introduced to Angelico’s eye for pie. I was donating a rug to the cause and my father was hauling the green monster away. While placing the rug into the trunk, I truly just wanted to avoid covering the box and it ending up forgotten about, and Pops offered me the remainder. Yum yum and then some. The dough looked to have been brick over fired, while toppings looked fresh, plentiful, and ready for reheat. I always try to honor my pizza with an oven or pizza stone reheat when available.(The latter is worth the investment. Brings it back in time to when it was pulled from the oven. Makes the crust crisp and radiates warm goodness from the bottom to the top for impeccable taste.) I will be making the journey across town to verify the method to this delicious madness and probably becoming a permanent fixture at Angelico.

I’ve been ordering from Angelico’s since they opened. They were always great, but now not so much. The last time I ordered, our pizza was delivered cold. I should’ve said something to the driver then, as I noticed when he handed me the box it was cold. I called once I truly realized how cold it was and they were responsive and sent us another pizza. It took about 35 minutes to receive. The driver was not thrilled to be back at my house and questioned me about his timing to drive to my house. The replacement pizza was cold as well. I don’t understand how other chains can deliver pizza and it still be hot, where Angelico’s can not. Has management changed? Do they need new insulated bags? These are just a few questions management should look into. I also don’t appreciate being questioned by the driver; yes, I am very aware of the distance between Petworth and Mt. Pleasant. Time to find a new pizza delivery service as I will no longer support this business. What a waste of $ 36 for cold pizza.

I order from them, often. Please note: if you pre pay your tip, online, and live in an apartment building(must be buzzed inside), they do not deliver to your door. Over the past few months, several drivers come up with plenty excuses not to do door to door service.

Terrible! We got a menu through our door and thought we would try it out as I wanted some Italian food. We ordered a pizza and lasagna, it took over an hr to get delivered and when we got it I was shocked on how poor it was. I couldn’t eat the lasagna it was tasteless and cold and the pizza was cold and soggy! The lasagna went in the trash and we microwaved the pizza and eat the best pieces lol not an enjoyable take out!

If you need a quick pizza or wings fix, Angelico’s the place. While I almost always opt to get wings here on the fly, they’re typically small in size and heavy on the sauce. While it’s not a bad thing, they get the job done. Bonus points for quick service!

EDIT: The prices have gone up, which I get, but at the same time, the quality of the food has also gone down. My current belief is that they have started freezing the dough, resulting in a worse crust. If they are not doing that, whatever they are doing, the crust is not as good, and the prices mean I usually just want to check something else out. I use to order from here all the time, but I don’t think I have eaten here in over three months. I’ve moved them down to three stars, and will try to eat here again soon to double check these feelings. Original Review: I really enjoy the pizza. They have an excellent, doughy crust(if that is your thing), and obviously use quality ingredients. It may not be the best pizza ever, but as a neighborhood pizzeria that delivers, it is completely solid, and you won’t go wrong ordering from them.

Honestly surprised to see the low ratings. We ordered Angelico late on Saturday night, desperate for pizza and wings. The wings didn’t blow me away, but the pizza was great! Spinach, prosciutto, onions… with a soft yet somehow slightly crispy crust. Really solid, especially compared to some of the other delivery pizza I’ve had up in NW. Delivery also took like, 20 minutes, which was a welcome change from the hour+ I’m used to at home. The cheese bread wasn’t the best I’ve had, but it was delicious. And the ranch(and yeah, I’m a ranch on pizza girl, which is one of the many reasons I’m a fattie), but the ranch was really delicious. Five stars for the ranch, three for the wings, four for everything else. A good pizza delivery place to know about if you’re in Mount Pleasant!

Ya’ll are ordering the wrong things. First of all, don’t expect good pizza in DC. I’m not saying you have to be in Brooklyn or Chicago to get good pizza, but DC is the worst for non-gourmet pizza(except Sicilian, which doesn’t deliver to me). Their pizza is edible at a decent takeout price – worth it if you’re willing to pick it up. Their sandwiches are reasonably priced and really good. Their delivery is very prompt and polite. This place is a solid neighborhood joint.

Ordered here four times and on one occasion received pizza that had stale, hard-as-a-rock prosciutto on it. To their credit, they delivered us a new/different pizza which was great. The next time, ordered the spinach & artichoke pizza, and the artichoke’s were literally mushy, blue/brown and bordering on moldy. Awful. They voided my order. Customer service is great but pizza ugh.
