Art And Framing

The owner is pretentious and dismissive. He treats customers like they do not know anything about aesthetics nor framing. He seemingly gets upset if you decline his first solution and then creates a tense atmosphere in which it is very difficult to explore alternatives. He might be praying on people’s insecurities — his choices are decent, but not amazing — and he is definitely someone you do not want to end up giving your money to. I am shocked that this guy was ever recommended to me as someone I must see. If you are a masochist or would like to see what kind of customer service you could have run into before the advent of social media, then the experience is worth it and you should definitely engage.

I’ve been going to Mo for years, he’s framed every single painting and portrait in my house. The quality of his work really shows in the frame, and he handles each piece with such care. He has a vast selection of frames and their quality is all amazing, I recently had my daughters graduation photos framed and he helped me pick the perfect frame for it! I’m so happy with his service and craftsmanship. Absolutely amazing!

I went in with a frame that had been damaged by some movers to get an estimate done on how much it would cost to get it repaired or replaced. Upon finding the right style of frame I needed with the help of the store owner I asked for an estimate and was told I would not receive one until I had paid in full. The reason being he did not want me to collect the money from the moving company and just keep it. He said I would have to leave the pictures with him if I wanted an official estimate. I asked if I could have a business card with at least a rough estimate for how much it would cost on the back. He agreed to this.
I returned to the store two weeks later with the picture and told him I would like to leave the picture with him so I could get the estimate and have it replaced. Once again, he insisted I pay in full before writing an estimate. I offered to leave the frame there and arrange it so the moving company would pay him. He insisted I pay in full right there and when I asked him why it had to be right then he took the business card that he had given me two weeks prior and ripped it apart saying «I will not even give you that much of an estimate.» More perplexed than anything else at this turn of events I asked again why I couldn’t just leave it as he originally offered at which point told me to go find someone else to get get the frame replaced — the tone of his voice was clearly upset as he walked away back to his computer in the corner of the shop. Now really confused as anything, I told him I would take his advice to which he responded «good» as I gathered my picture and headed for the door.
I’m still not sure what happened. I get it, everyone has a bad day, but I would recommend to anyone I know to steer clear of this shop.
