I never miss a chance to go here whenever I’m in town. The egg white, avocado and spinach bagel is crazy good! I wish I could fine a place like this at home!

Ok, so I looked up places for breakfast and this place sounded great; based on reviews. It did NOT disappoint. This is a local joint worthy of an Anthony Bourdain episode. It’s a whole in the wall that stays busy. We ate outside and people came and went swiftly because the service is freaky fast! I had a bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel — DELISH! They make they’re own bagels. Needless to say it was warm, soft and all types of goodness. If you’re ever in the area, definitely find your way here for a breakfast or lunch sandwich. Do it!

This is where the locals go. It has everything, and everything it has is on the cheap and is made at a pace that Sonic the Hedgehog would approve. I typically get just a simple bagel and coffee, but have also purchased the salads and sandwiches — all solid choices. It’s right around the corner from where I work, so I am here at least once a week. Don’t be fooled by long lines! You will never wait for that long. The women who work here may look just like sweet little ladies, but they are wicked fast behind the counter. I have had the same change-exchange that another reviewer had, but I have been given proper change every time.

Whole wheat everything bagels are delish! Quick and efficient service. If you get there early on the weekend, there is no line. Minus one star for cash only.

Best bagels I’ve had in DC! Only Brooklyn bagel in courthouse has better IMO. Lox/CC is awesome. Place is definitely no-frills and there can be a long wait on weekend mornings although the staff works very fast. A couple tables outside and in the back but definitely more of a to-go place. Great hidden gem! — NY bagel snob

The closest I’ve found to a legit bagel shop in DC, and unfortunately, the secret is out, as evidenced by the long line every weekend morning. But fear not for the staff is efficient as could be and the line moves fast. The everything bagel is delightfully and perfectly chewy, and the bagel’s the perfect size for me and not one of the grocery store monstrosities. I have found it difficult to call in orders as the phone often isn’t picked up on the weekend, and even when it is, the staff seems to have trouble hearing and understanding. So in person seems to be the way to go! Very little space inside and outside, so it’s best to pick up and go.

Delicious bagels! Nice workers and easy menu! Small little restaurant that takes only cash, but would come back in a heart beat for these bagels!

Sure they have a bunch of varieties of bagels, but beware. The last few times I have gone in there, the cashier lady with the visor tries to cheat me on the amount of change due. A few weeks ago, I gave her a $ 20 on a purchase that was less than $ 10, and instead of giving me back a $ 10 and a few $ 1s, she just gave me back a $ 5 and few $ 1s. When I corrected her, she immediately handed over the $ 10 and said«Whoops, so sorry.» I thought to myself«OK, honest mistake» and went my way. However yesterday, on another puchase which was about $ 6.50, which then became $ 6.99 when she rung it up, I gave her a $ 20 and mentally computed that she would be giving me back $ 13. Nope, she only gave me $ 12, but I didn’t realize it until I was walking out the door that correct change would have been a $ 10 and three $ 1s, and not just the $ 10 and two $ 1s she briskly handed me before ringing up the next person. The place was busy, the line was had a few people in it, so maybe she was betting that customers don’t count change because everything is moving too fast at the counter, or that people would not want to make a scene by asking for their correct change. However, getting repeatedly ripped-off leaves a bad taste in the customer’s mouth, and this is how a business loses customers. And it’s not the $ 1 that I really need, it’s the insult that they think they can rip off their customers who are too dumb to notice. So, this place is still worth it if you are craving a particular bagel that you can’t get elsewhere in DC, such as a jalapeño or whole wheat everything or whatever, but make sure you mentally compute how much change you are due, because you will likely have to ask for all of it after she«accidently» short-changes you. Not sure how many more times I will be willing to go in here.

The best bagels I have had in DC. The cream cheese is so creamy and almost whipped. PERFECTION. My favorite is the Lox bagel with tomato. I have lived here fro a year and a half now and gave up on bagels in the area until someone at work insisted we come here for breakfast. I am so in love that I have come here everyday for the last three days. Today I bought a bag of half a dozen day old bagels for $ 1.70 so I can try and save some money. GREATDEAL!

Best bagels in DC! We live much closer to a Bethesda Bagels location and are happy to walk a bit further to Bagels Etc. Bagels baked on site, delicious cream cheeses(especially the chive or lox spread with capers) and perfect breakfast sandwiches with the crispest bacon in town. I am always awed by how efficiently and accurately the ladies work. Don’t let the long lines or thick accebts scare you away. Just one note of caution: cash only!

For the past two years of my life my friend Kelsey F. would refer to this place in DuPont Circle as «Cash Only Bagels». When I was on my way to Georgetown one day I stopped into this place right before closing and was pleasantly surprised. It doesn’t look like much but they had SO many options and my bagel was so so good.

Brisk pace — no-nonsense behind the counter Japanese ladies diligently and expeditiously whip up your order in ½ the time of big-business fast food assembly lines. Broad assortment of bagels and bialy. It has that bodegita feel because of the cramped quarters and overhead options. Pour your own joe, select from two inside or six outside tables. Patrons appear to know the process, which is to say these been here more than a ½ dozen times. It’s not intuitive at the onset. Know what you want, else expect the Pat’s/Gino’s treatment.

Turkey Avocado on Bialy — Everything on it. $ 7.50. Best work lunch you’ll grab on P ST. Breakfast sammies are also very choice on a hungover weekday. As others have stated, it’s cash only.

Ok bagel compared to bagels in NY. I used to live above ess a bagel(now closed) on 1st ave. Bagels taste like the grocery store and it’s greasy but… Cheap and decent food is really hard to find in DC. Fair price and not bad taste

Really like the atmosphere and the ladies working there. They are so efficient, friendly and cute. The bagels are good. The breakfast combos are cheap, tasty, and come in large portion. They also serve all different kinds of coffee. This is a place for grab and go, but you can also enjoy dinning there when it’s not so crowed. Anyway, it’s a fantastic place for breakfast and I love breakfast, so I am definitely a huge fan now. Cash only, but they have a ATM inside, so that’s not a problem. I also like hard working family business, so once agin, Love Bagels Etc. and the ladies!!!

Sometimes you just want a simple breakfast. Sometimes you don’t need all the fancy extra fluff. So let’s get down to the basics. Bagels Etc. offers many appealing breakfast combinations that include coffee and orange juice! You can get a bagel w/crème cheese, coffee AND orange juice for about $ 5;(I believe this is number 1 on the menu). They also offer other breakfast combinations that include omelets, egg sandwiches and muffins. At times I have been shocked by their generosity in their portions. I found myself thinking, «Wow, I got a 3 egg omelet plus a bagel with crème cheese for around $ 5?!». $ 5 alone gets you a fancy orange juice in many shops in Dupont. So calling all college students, interns, and general population in debt living in Washington DC, come here to get incredible value for your buck. In terms of seating, they offer a couple of tables outside, a few small tables inside as well as a countertop with barstools in the back room. I’ve never had a hard time finding a place to sit; people come and go periodically. Only downside is Bagels Etc is CASHONLY. Bottom line: Cheap Dupont Breakfast.

The best bagel I’ve had in DC, rivaling need NYC bagels! Bagels etc. is a no-frills bagel joint with very fast service and reasonable prices. I got the bagel untoasted bc it looked fresh and soft… my first bite was perfectly doughy and carb-y with the perfect thin layer of crust on the outside. The whole wheat everything bagel was flavorful and extra salty, exactly how I like it. They had my order out before I finished paying. Now that is fast service! $ 5 for a bagel, cream cheese, and OJ. Will be back when I’m in DuPont!
