Banneker Recreation Center

Walking by the tennis courts this evening and heard some Marvin Gaye at a respectable but noticeable level. That’s when I noticed that were 8 lighted courts (some were doubles), and an apparent soul tennis party! #partygoals
Great recreation center! Beautiful track, nice adult and kiddie outdoor pools, tennis courts, lots of benches, a playground, and two baseball fields. Also: a skateboard area that I will be stalking because I have never before seen my toddler so animated. The skaters seemed to appreciate such an enthusiastic fan who enjoyed the falls more than the landings.
Adjacent street parking is paid so you may want to park a block away or see if there is an open spot in the parking area on the inner side of the tennis court. Inside, there were adults and children’s martial arts classes going on in the brightly colored and recently renovated multipurpose rooms.
