I left ClassPass to join this gym, so I clearly enjoyed the workouts. It was tough and challenging, but you felt great afterwards.
Unfortunately, I found out through an Instagram post that the gym has closed due to unforeseen circumstances. There was no further explanation and it does not appear that it will be reopening. I looked at all his sites (
, Facebook and Instagram) and there is no information. I tried reaching out to Breelaun (email and Facebook) to see what was going on and if we were being refunded for half the month, etc., but received no response. Sadly, I don’t expect a response. I find this very unprofessional and frustrating! I don’t see myself returning to his studio, should he open a new one due to the lack of professionalism and courtesy.

I echo Jessie and Helen. Member for nearly two years. I went because it was nearby and a place to use weights, hang out with some people while working out. But the shady sudden departure plus an early (essentially stolen) fee for November makes this now non-​existent «business» drop from an iffy 3 to a 1 star.

DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN OR HIS ‘COMPANY.’ I was a member of BMarchai for over a year. In the beginning, his quirkiness was semi-​appealing but I learned to just ignore him. The gym was never clean and always smelled horrible but the workouts were good so I kept paying for it. However, I was informed yesterday (after having my account charged a week ago on the 22nd for the next month) that the studio was closed until further notice not from an email but from Instagram. No mention on the post as to what is going to happen to the people that had just paid or anything about refunds. Then today I see an another Instagram post that Breelaun has hopped on a plane on a ‘sabbatical.’ How does one go from closing a studio to going on a sabbatical you may ask? By using their clients money. I had a friend who almost signed up on Monday and I am so glad he didn’t. No mention on Monday or Tuesday that anything was wrong or that we should expect the gym to be closed. This man is a fraud and should never be allowed to own a business ever again.
I hope Breelaun Marchai reads these reviews and realizes that we all know what you did and karma will come back to get you sir. I believe in that. I hope you have a wonderful time on your sabbatical with my hard earned money. And I hope that it was all worth it.

There’s a lot to commend here, but ultimately I’m going to pass.
I will admit up front that I am Out of Shape. I’ve been an athlete in the past, but right now I am soft and round. And I’m trying to change that, so I’ve started doing the Classpass thing and am testing out a lot of the local studios.
Bmarchai trainers plan a new circuit each week, designed to flatten you. It was an incredible workout – no question. But it also moves quickly with almost no instruction: there’s an audio track running in the background telling you when to switch to the next exercise, when you’re halfway through, and pumping out encouragement. This means that there’s no time between moves to adjust equipment, ask questions, or learn proper form. It just felt like an injury waiting to happen.
And most upsetting to me was their waiver, which grants them unfettered license to use your image in any way they deem appropriate. I was really uncomfortable but signed anyway. .. only to discover that one of the trainers was filming our entire workout. This would maybe not faze a lot of people, but it really flipped me the eff out. I’ll never go back for this reason alone.
I will say that the trainers were friendly, welcoming, and clearly in great shape themselves. But between the creepy as f*#$ image waiver, the not-​terribly-​scaleable-​for-​beginners workout, and the breakneck pace. .. definitely not for me.

This place is Capitol Hill’s best kept secret ! Challenging workouts that change every week. Eric and Breelaun are motivators and very friendly. It’s not pretentious like so many other gyms I have visited in DC. The only downside is that it’s closed on Sundays.

I’ve been going to Bmarchai Studios consistently for 2 – 3 months now and I’m totally addicted to the workout they offer. Breelaun and Eric put together a different 30 minute circuit every week, which keeps things really interesting and fun. I love the variety and challenges Bmarchai offers. Every circuit is truly a full body workout and with Breelaun’s contagious energy cheering you on, the time flies — half hour or full hour the time literally just flies. I haven’t been this committed to a workout in years.
The studio also offers a really friendly environment that is not at all intimidating because either Breelaun or Eric is there to make sure you are doing everything properly and to encourage you to push just a little harder each circuit. In the last few weeks I’ve really started to see results (–9 lbs and so much stronger) and can’t wait to see what the next two months have in store!
If you like variety and some super encouraging and enthusiastic motivators this place is DEFINITELY worth a visit!

I’ve been going to Bmarchai Studios for just about 2 months and have LOVED it! Breelaun is such a great coach and so encouraging and motivating. He always makes sure we’re doing the exercises properly. I love that every week I feel sore in ways that evidence a great workout. I feel stronger, especially in my core, and I really love how the studio is set up with new and interesting exercises, specifically designed by Breelaun for a great workout each week. He always keeps things fresh and pushes us. This is the first time I’ve kept up with a gym/​workout routine in years!!!
