My favorite neighborhood bar, by far. Relaxed vibe and surprisingly great food– the sandwiches are huge and fresh; the soup is amazing; and please try the deviled eggs. Great specials throughout the week and long weekend happy hours!

Cheap drinks are great for happy hour, but the service was bad and the games are in pieces. Have fun playing trivial pursuit from the 80’s. At best this place is «okay».

Picked up a sandwich for lunch after reading the reviews. Place was decent(and empty) but I guess its a bar in Glover Park at noon. Looks like they have pretty good happy hour deals and a large space for activity. Looks somewhat dingy from the outside — you have to walk downstairs to enter the building. Someone at the bar had the cheese/cold cut/hummus platter. Looked DELICIOUS. I went with the Turkey Sandwich. Came with a pickle and a bag of chips for $ 9. Kind of expensive for a basic sandwich, next time I will visit Subway or Safeway down the street. Service was kind but not over the top. Boar’s head meat — same as deli selection, but maybe I just chose the wrong thing. Decent sandwich but I could have made the same myself! For $ 9 I wouldnt say it was worth it.

Love this bar. The food is exceptional. Great sandwiches,(deviled eggs!) solid beer selection, friendly, attentive and helpful staff. It completely abstains from the young republican vibe of Glover Park. Good little outdoor patio space, cozy interior. Great place to grab a drink with friends. Never gets too packed. Solid joint, how a bar should be.

The food is delicious, and the beer selection is great! Love that I can sit outside. Great for big groups. The grilled cheese BLT was amazing.

So a guy out front, who may or may not have worked for this place told me that they’d be serving food. Basic like cold cuts. The bartender tells me no that they have a few fruit and pasta salads and beef jerky. Granted it was late but I was ravenous so I went for the beef jerky and pasta salad. Whatever, add a beer and I have had worse meals. Well they were out of jerky. I had pasta salad. I don’t like pasta but had just gotten into town and no where else(aside from the strip club) was serving food. There was a decent selection of beer and great punk music on. I enjoyed that aspect. The bartender was named Jason and he was super friendly, which is appreciated when you are an out of towner. If I’m back around here I would definitely come back. Just wish I could have eaten more but again, it was very late.

VEGGIEBURGER. Nice tables outside and good service. Thanks Unilocalers for the rec on the veggie burger, not something I normally would have ordered!

Favorite spot in Glover Park. Also they have an amazing new slushie drink. Always a great place to go with friends. Nice atmosphere and great food. Highly recommend the veggie burger– even if you’re a carnivore!

I had a meat and cheese board along with a few cocktails for lunch. A really cool, laid back vibe. If you go during the day, you can play pool, darts, shuffle board, or a variety of other games at no cost. Definitely worth checking out if your in the area, but maybe not worth traveling for.

My favorite neighborhood outside«beer garden»! They have«Weihenstefan» Hefeweizen, which qualifies them for 5 stars already! Nice pool bar inside. Friendly service. Just a good place to hang out in our hood!

Good spot for a chill night out. Came with a group after finishing Escape Room(which was SOFUN) and we wanted to go somewhere relaxed but with a good vibe. Breadsoda was perfect. It’s situated down a flight of stairs and is pretty dark. Theres a patio area with a few tables outside the bar. There are activities, as others have mentioned, such as shuffleboard, but really there are only 2 shuffleboard tables and I can imagine it gets packed sometimes. We happened to be lucky in that both were empty, but otherwise it would have been a little annoying, as the tables are really close to each other and up against a wall without much room. The main reason I can’t bring myself to give this cozy bar a few more stars was the food situation — there really wasn’t any. We were able to order guac and chips, which was ok tasting, but they didn’t have much else on the late night menu(we arrived around 10:15 pm on a Friday). What kind of bar doesn’t have bar food? The options were basically like… pasta salad or a cold turkey sandwich. They claimed their«kitchen was closed»… A little weird. If you’re not hungry and not with a huge group though, this is a good stop in Glover Park.

what a nice neighborhood gem! plenty of space to take a big enough group for some shuttleboard, billiards, darts or even wii. good selection of local drafts along with nice bottle/can drafts. i’ve only been here later in the evening so i can only speak for the late night menu but everything i have had has hit the spot right now. nothing too fancy but just enough to get you prepared for a night of fun and games ahead ;) during the warmer nights, there is also seating outside on the street level which is nice. last time i was there, i didn’t see anyone come to take our orders but not a problem at all– it’s not too far to the attentive bar staff. i’ve seen this place at varying degrees of super packed to dotted with patrons here and there and even at extreme degrees, i’ve always enjoyed myself here. if you’re in the glover park area, stop by for a drink or two.

Was here last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the people and atmosphere. Waited for some friends to arrive and was there about an hour early. This was a great place to enjoy a few of the numerous beers they have on a warm sunny day. There were plenty of people sitting at the tables but I managed to find one on the upper level by the street. Just about everyone had their dog and every dog was brought a bowl of water along with the owners drinks. Its a nice place to hang out and people watch, plus they have board games available to keep you entertained. Didn’t have any food but did hang out with friends for about 4 hours. The service was good, the atmosphere was inviting and I would go back again.

Always have a good time here. It’s never the first stop of the night, usually the last. When hanging out with friends it’s a good activity place. The staff is great, never have to wait for a drink and they pretty much keep the pool tables in order. And it’s cool to walk down the stairs to a bar.

I really like breadsoda for a relaxed evening. We came here after the escape room. So we were PRETTYDAMNPUMPED after escaping and totally hyped to go somewhere. Breadsoda is good since you can actually do activities there. Shuffleboard, darts, etc. You don’t have to just sit at a bar and drink. The beer selection is pretty good too. I had some Bell’s seasonal IPA and it was one of the most delicious beers I had. They also had a blood orange IPA. DAMNNNNN. I know these probably aren’t on tap all the time, but one experience was good enough. The only minus is, the games they have are OLDDDDD. Trivial Pursuit POPCULTURE is pop culture from the 80s/90s. We’ve been a couple times and every time its been positive, and the service is always good. Not exactly great, but attentive enough to get what you need and not overly annoying.

I am by no means a Virginian. I live in VA. I play in D.C. I avoid MD and their crazy drivers as much as I possibly can. If I was to open a neighborhood bar in the VA area, I’d have to model it after Breadsoda. Breadsoda has that relaxed local bar feel. You can saunter in, find your friends or a lonely spot at the bar and just hang out. I met up with a few friends of mine for a birthday celebration. The servers were pretty cool people who were actually able to multitask. I know… who knew you could talk to several people and still put in a drink order and get it back rather quickly. It made the conversing seamless on the parties part. I did appreciate that they had a pool table and shuffleboard. I didn’t order the food but I did have a chance to check out the choice selection bar fare. Burgers, Salads and Cold Sandwiches. I noticed that they had a Moroccan chicken salad with harissa spiced sauce. I dated a Moroccan before so I decided to pass on that as I figured it would give me a huge headache and kill the fun for the evening. It may even aggravate me on the ride home and I’d spend my night on on couch wondering why I would ever choose to go that route? But I digress. Breadsoda is a really cool solo hang out or final destination for a night out on the town with the friends. I didn’t get a chance to try their bread or soda so I had to remove a star in the rating.

Fun place, even if it isn’t metro accessible. It has good Happy Hour deals, $ 4 for select(aka: very few) beers. The food is good too, and the BLTs are a notch above normal because of the excellent bacon used. They have quite a few artisanal meats and cheeses which give their food a nice edge. Their alcohol selection is above reproof and they categorize it by ciders, darks, lights, belgiums, etc. There really is something for everything and almost everything fits the $ 6 – 9 range, which is decent for DC. They also have a nice selection of games. While the darts, pool, and shuffleboard you have to pay for(by people and hour wtf) their card and board games are free. My friends and I played Cards Against Humanity and the waiter never made us feel like we were overstaying our welcome. If I were in the area I would go again!

My cousin laughed at me when I was craving a bloody mary at 10 p.m. on a Saturday night but I followed my gut instinct — luckily for me, the bartender was ALL about it. The one word that really sold me? «HORSERADISH.» The not-so-secret word to get me on board with your bloody is always«horseradish.» The bonus word in this case was«bacon.» Garnishes of celery and olives don’t typically make me jump out of my pants but when you tell me your version is topped with two thick slabs of perfected bacon. I’m all yours. –The verdict is in — I had three and they were all equally delicious. On to the bar, it’s underground, sexy dark basement-ish with wall washing lights and a large bar. The highlight of our visit was playing ski ball(rent the«table?» for $ 16/hour — wowzers, time flies when you’re having fun. I reserve the 5th star because as we were heading up the stairs to exit, one of the bartenders chased after us aggressively accusing my mum of not tipping. It appears someone took the cash tip out of the book within the few seconds of us walking out the door? Or a waitress/bartender mix up? Yikes either way.
