So much for Café Express. It was a decent eatery while it lasted. I can’t imagine that the Thanksgiving holidays could have resulted in its demise but one day it was open for business and the next day it was cleaned out. No, I don’t think that the restaurant staff are simply on an extended vacation. Everything is pretty much cleared out … the signs, the drink fridges, the coffee machines. All that’s left are a few empty racks and stacks of chairs. *Sigh* Oh, Café Express … how much I’ll miss your western omelette ($ 4.25 with toast). It was always a cheap and hearty way to start off my days. [Last Attempted Visit: November 30, 2009]

A great lunch place to grab quick and delicious sushi (try their crunch roll) or bibimbap. They also have excellent chili, which I just found out. If you don’t want to wait too long, place your order by phone, 10 mins later it will be waiting for you.

Quick Good Sushi
I got there on a Thursday at 11:45, ordered 3 rolls and waited while they made it fresh for me. It took about 5 – 10 min and the nice lady brought it out to my table.
The Spicy Tuna Roll was perfect at $ 4.75.
The Rainbow Roll was perfect at about $ 9.50 for a lot of pieces.
The Fire Roll was perfect at about $ 9.50 for a lot of pieces.
I splurged for lunch today, but I am happy and full!
The only down side I can say is that the sushi is not memorable. It is good, but for the price I was hoping for something that made me gush about my find.
Overall a pleasant sushi lunch server by nice people.

I’ve been here a zillion times now and looked carefully for the vermin mentioned in Zach E.‘s review, but I haven’t seen any. This place is «under new management,» but the name is the same. They have pre-​made salads, sushi, chips, etc.
The sushi here is quick and cheap, but get there before noon to avoid the crazy rush. Sometimes the line is almost out the door for sushi. If you don’t want sushi, might I suggest the vegetable bowl or the veggie sandwich. The workers here are SO nice and will accomodate your every food need. They also have some Korean staples and a whole soup list.
I’m getting hungry just writing about this place. It’s the perfect lunch spot. Yay!

I’ve never been, but the DC Department of Health has:
«Closed Oct. 23 for failure to minimize the presence of vermin and operating without a license, in circumstances that may endanger public health, in gross unsanitary conditions, including misusing toxic or poisonous materials, and with incorrect holding temperatures for potentially hazardous foods. Reopened last Thursday.»
