If I could chose 0 stars I would. First off the hotel is great. Clean, large rooms, comfortable beds, nice front desk staff, it’s truly great. I actually stay in DC often and I would frequent this hotel if it wasn’t for the billing issues. Not just for myself but also for a friend that stayed the same night I did. I was billed twice for my room, as was my friend. Which isn’t a huge deal in the hotel industry because mistakes really do happen. So I was expecting to call and it quickly be handled… that’s NOT what happened. Instead, I was told I would have to wait for whoever didn’t pay their hotel room to pay, seeing as I was paying for another guest, to another room, that I never stayed in. My card was hooked to 2 rooms apparently. The other room /guest’s card had no funds and their room could not be processed on THEIR card so they processed it on mine. This is all what I was told after talking to 3 different staff members. I explained that I never authorized someone to use my card for their random room but that was not enough for the hotel’s very large mistake. So the representative told me they would try to clear this up within a weeks time. Here we sit, a month later, and I can’t get through to anyone, yet have never been refunded for the additional charge on my card. Friends, PLEASE do not stay here on the count that you may be charged for someone down the hall’s room. I really hope they enjoyed their free night stay or that they also were not double charged. Sounds like crooks to me! BEWAREBEWAREBEWARE.

Fantastic hotel. Very modern, very clean. All room amenities worked perfectly. Tons of space. Bar/restaurant downstairs a little pricey outside happy hour, but we were given 3 free drink vouchers for no reason by the bartender. Hard to be mad at that! Offered luggage storage so that we could explore the city the day we left without carrying our stuff. Excellent.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Cambria. The staff was delightful. We have three children and the hotel’s dinner menu and breakfast buffet satisfied everyone. We enjoyed the pool and neighborhood. The neighborhood is quiet. This is a new hotel with a nice social bar, gelato shop and a major grocery store, all new, in the same block or across the street. Valet parking was comparable to other hotels in the DC area and we had no problem going to our car or with the valet parking experience. We walked to see the national Christmas tree. It was about a 40 min walk to the Mall with kids. We also walked to Chinatown and it was 15 min. The Metro is easy to get to and the station isn’t very busy. All in all the staff, hotel condition, price as well as the dining will have us looking to stay here when we return for another DC adventure.

For your information GM… we were NEVERASKED to leave the hotel, we wanted to end our stay due to manipulation and the unsettling feeling of no peace. If u are so worried about the accommodating needs of ur guests, you would have already looked into fixing the problems we faced that evening. Wow, This was cute to throw in there and try and state your case, we left willingly due to being pressured to sign a «No Party Policy,» I know my rights, it was too big of a gamble to stay and to later awake with a $ 300.00 bill, and no one was smoking either in that room, that also was part of the problem. Also, what happened to checking into the mysterious door slams?! I have personal video footage of the conversations coming from the front desk auditor«no name James» over the phone and in the lobby, I’d hate to post and make things worse, video doesn’t conjure up lies. From now on we will continue to go right back to the Embassy Suites or my favorite Westin hotels, this place wasn’t at all what we expected in reading all the ravenous reviews on the Cambria, I’m just so glad I saw this read u posted. It sums the stay up for others to see;) This was a conspiracy and poor management on your part the customer is always right* we have our $$$ back that’s all that matters dear!

Out of our league. ;) Parking is interesting, with the only option valet, essentially. Plan for $ 40/day more.

Took a Weekend trip to DC from Long Island Hotel is So NiCe and clean the staff was amazing and very helpfully on helping us Get a cab find a restaurant and what is the easiest ways to see the sites. We stayed in a king Suit it was so clean and adorable I loved the swiveling tv that u can watch in bed or on the couch that also had a pull out bed. I slept like a baby! There is an amazing view from the roof top lounge as well. Also I would love to add the security features the hotel has at night with the room keys and using them to get into the hotel and into the room not a lot of hotels in NY have this. The neighborhood is cute a little sketchy at night. Also the cabs were nice and cheap to get around town. Would Highly recommend this hotel, actually friends of mine will be here next weekend

Stayed there two nights this week. Nice, clean, hip, and modern but some front desk staff fell a little short… Had an envelope for another guest slipped under my door, had an early wake up call in my room for another desk, and finally, on the last day I asked for late check out. The front desk said yes, that’s at 1230. When I went to my room to get my luggage at 1230, the key didn’t work and when I went back down to the desk to inquire about the problem, the woman at the desk was very very curt, and said that the doors automatically lock at noon. When I tried to explain that I had been granted late check out 30 mins AFTER that, she just kept repeating that the doors lock at noon. I said that if I had known that, I would have returned at or before noon, and asked why this hadn’t been mentioned earlier. She was still curt and unapologetic. Bummer.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Renaissance. The staff were friendly and the rooms were very clean. My only issue was the amounts of loud guests in the room next to me. At around 3 am two woman started arguing back and fourth extremely loudly to the point that they woke me up. The arguing continued for about an hour. When I called downstairs they said they would send someone up and it never happened. The noise continued. Although I understand this is not the hotels fault, it was extremely disturbing and I felt it should have been handled better. Overall, 4 stars.

I booked this hotel Sunday night with family, as they had an early flight from Regan Monday, and we wanted as much time to sleep as possible. The hotel is very modern, inside and out, and has over 9 floors. There is street parking available, which was a nice surprise. The check in process was extremely quick and easy. They have some great amenities, including a bar with happy hour, a Giant grocery store next door that stays open until 11, a Starbucks next door and an Ethiopian café across the street that stayed open late, with outdoor seating. I love the pretty entryway with the chandelier and stairs. This location is pretty great, just a 6 minute drive to China Town and the Verizon Center. The Queen Suite was very spacious, complete with two queen beds, a comfortable pullout couch and two tvs. I loved the Bath and body works products in the bathroom. The entire hotel is smoking free, which means fresh air everywhere. I’d definitely book another stay.

Ok, I would have rated this hotel 5 stars, but I am docking them for 2 stars ONLY because there bar staff needs to either be re-trained OR terminated from their job. Sounds crazy, but that should be an amenity that business travelers should enjoy after a long work day. I have been here 3 days, and every night I have come by the bar to try and enjoy a drink. Because my conference events end late I don’t get back to the hotel until 45 minutes before the bar is about to close. There are 2 young bartenders(young make and female) that attended me, both working either the same shift OR one leaving and the other coming. Let’s start with the young African American named Dalonte, who this individual has serviced me all 3 days since I have been here. Not once did he ever say what can I get you as I approached the bar. He looks and stares right at you as if that is my queue to order something. I ordered a beer and grabbed some food. I really did not want to tip him on either of my visits, but there was another bartender who was working that evening who was very sweet… I think she said she was from Ethopia. Even though she was nice, neither of them were very proactive or really cared that I or any customer was there. I am not sure how they are paid, but I would think tips are a major part of how they get paid. I chose this hotel because I wanted a very nice hotel with a bar and friendly staff that I could enjoy my evenings with. I am a Choice Hotels gold club, and even though there are not that many Cambria Suites in the places I travel, I was looking forward to having a nice, relaxful bar staff experience. I regret now leaving a tip considering that felt guilty not doing it. I plan to be back in DC in one month again, and won’t be back for this reason. I noticed that the Marriott Marquis down the street has a bar where the bartending staff was awesome… and not only suggested items on the menu, but you can tell they worked hard to earn their tips and represent the brand, and customer service.

I was in DC for a conference and one of the more reasonably priced hotels that was within walking distance to the convention center was Cambria. Having never heard of this hotel chain, I was a little skeptical. But, I saw that it was a new facility, the reviews were pretty good, and it was close to where I needed to be, so I decided to give it a try. Check-in was very efficient and in no time, I was walking into a very spacious room. Upon entering, there was a large sitting area with a couch and TV, and the sleeping quarters had two double beds, a bureau, and TV. The two areas were separated by a desk. After a little room inspection, I saw that the bathroom mirror was being repaired and tools were around the sink. When I called down to the desk, they were apologetic, offered several options to me, and eventually moved me to another room once they realized that the repairs would take a while. They even brought complimentary snacks to my room. My five night stay there was very pleasant. The beds were comfortable, the hotel was quiet, and the amenities were decent. During my stay, I took advantage of the fitness center, which overlooks the indoor pool and the outdoor lounging space. What I loved most about Cambria was the friendliness of the employees and perhaps also, the bowl of Andes mints at the front desk each afternoon. Additionally, there are a number of restaurants, museums, and shops located close by and taxis and über cars were always close.

I would have given the hotel 5 stars expect that I can’t fully endorse a place when there was a shooting outside my room the first night I stayed here(which after looking at crime maps for the area is somewhat common). It’s in Shaw, which is going through some pretty hefty gentrification so… I get it. The hotel itself is beautiful, new, and full of little luxuries. The staff was great and very accommodating. Be sure to check out the views from the rooftop if you go. I would just exercise some common sense about walking through the surrounding area late at night.

The stay was strong but had some bumps in the road… My eight year old son and I stayed here 6÷19−6÷21. We arrived around 1:30 that Friday and tried to check in a little early. Room wasn’t ready which I had some understanding since it was a suite with a bedroom. I did request an early check-in to try and get cleaned up a little but… Valet seemed nice enough(38.00 per night for valet with I believe in/out privileges). Front desk seemed nice as well. Subway is a few blocks away to the convention center. If you are heading to the monuments you will need to transfer at L’efant plaza. So we got back to the hotel around 6:30 and was able to check-in. Room was a nice size, bed and pillows were very comfortable. So Saturday we return and am getting ready to watch a little TV and, no tv. I call the front desk, which they attributed to the storm which I can kind of empathize with, but even at 8AM the next morning with the sunshine out, still no tv. I was in Kansas City a month earlier when they had a tornado and didn’t lose the tv then, so I am not sure why the TV vanished never to return. The Internet moved in the medium to slow range so no iPad streaming. When we checked out the next day, no sorry for the inconvenience or anything. It’s tough traveling with an eight year old at night and no tv. As for the rest of the hotel… pool was nice. They use a saltwater type mixture to keep it clean instead of chlorine. It is enclosed up on the roof. There is a balcony with a small hotel bar up there too. You aren’t permitted to take any food or drinks on the balcony unfortunately just to sit and enjoy the view. The exercise room is upstairs by the pool as well. I didn’t eat at the hotel but they did have menu options available. There is a Starbucks at the hotel outside and a Giant Grocery next door. Past that there are not any other food options available within walking distance. It would be nice if there were more food options in walking distance! With the amount of hotel options in DC I may look elsewhere for the next trip.

Really enjoyed my room and the hotel itself — very new and modern, incredibly spacious for a DC-area hotel(my room had a lovely little seating area with a second TV). The location is not the best unless you need quick access to the convention center. It seems like a cute little up and coming neighborhood that might be a great place to live — quite a few great looking restaurants with cuisine from around the world. But there isn’t much in the way of services for visitors or other conveniences. I needed to get a quick lunch at around 3pm and the best options were the Starbucks and the Giant grocery store next store. Walk to the Metro was just a few blocks, but felt far with luggage. DC hotels are insanely expensive, so in many ways this is a great bargain… but the location lacks the charm and the great energy of many other DC neighborhoods, so if that is important to you I’d definitely look elsewhere.

Hotel itself is good, it’s the people(specifically management) that completely ruins it. Being in a work field where customer service is hugely important I understand that unexpected situations happen, but it is managements JOB to rectify and make right your customers. This is not what we experienced on our first trip to Washington, D.C. Staying at this hotel. My party(4 people, 2 rooms) checked into the hotel at 2pm and dropped our bags off to walk around the city and explore. Everything went smoothly at this point and the concierge have a great recommendation as to where to eat. When we arrived at 11pm to grab our room keys, which had already been paid for, and go to sleep-management(Zach) informed us that he did not have a room for us… I’m sorry. Did they not realize this until 11pm? I don’t think so, so WHY did they not try to reach out to us at a time that we could find a new hotel? His«solution» was for half of our party to stay at a different hotel on the opposite side of town. When we had come to terms that this was the option we were going to be given and said our goodbyes as half the party was from London and leaving the next day Zach stepped into the back to order us a cab. While Zach was doing whatever in the back the very pleasant front desk lady who had not heard the conversation gave us two rooms INTHEHOTEL. Which Zach had just said didn’t exist… We ran to our rooms and in the morning decided to talk to the new manager(Tanae) who did not know of the situation and spun a different story than we had been told the night before and would NOT comp even one room for the mess up on their end. I’m blown away by the complete lack and disregard for customer service and will not stay at this hotel ever again. If you’re someone who goes on vacation and stays at a hotel for a peaceful carefree environment-room included– I recommend you stay clear as well.

Could have been such a positive experience if not for the terrible management of this hotel. Location is great for sightseeing the local area(why we selected and booked weeks in advance), room was a good size, and gym well appointed. Brad on front desk was lovely and gave us a great restaurant suggestion. BUT the Managers Zach and Tanae need training in customer service and how to deal fairly with clients who have been told at 11pm at night that oops we don’t have a room for you! Running hot water in a room is also nice but at 11.30pm I didn’t think to check the shower worked and being asked that when checking out was your final insult Tanae Offering a discount on our next stay is NOT a way to say sorry for your major screw up and running and hiding in the back room while your colleague tries to resolve the situation Zach is just plain ridiculous A letter to management will follow to ensure they know why clients do not return to your hotel but social media is a powerful medium for spreading the word to ensure others understand what to expect at this hotel

I subtracted a full star because I think it’s unfair for lodging properties to label rooms«suites» when they don’t qualify as such. Living room? That is stretching it so thin, I can floss my teeth with it. Check in was fine, reception greeting was aloof. Didn’t care as I just wanted to get to my room. At night the lobby area kind of looked like a student’s study hall. I’m not much into modern design especially here since the colors were mostly red, white and grey. None of these shades induced a warm and welcoming feeling, but rather a more sterilized, industrial one. Hey I know that’s a personal preference so I’m not deducting any points for that. This hotel does seem a little out of place as the vibe is definitely neighborhood not vibrant city life. All ok there as well as I was only looking for a place to rest my head. The bed was super comfortable and the room quiet so a good night’s sleep was had. The sitting area NOT living room wasn’t too comfortable so I spent more time on the bed than on the couch. The lighting was awful. If you are going for the minimalist look, put in some soft lighting. Otherwise you feel like being in a hospital room in the 70’s. That said some of the murals they had were very cool and it added a nice touch to the décor, there just wasn’t enough. I reserved a king but got a double queen which I think gave me more bed space but intruded on both the size of the sitting area and bathroom. I was expecting a walk in shower no bath but instead got the combo bath/shower unit. Bathroom was small, but I did like the fixtures and the tile. Nice look there. The common areas did look better in the daylight. I booked my room to include breakfast but because I chose a AAA rate they negated that. Really? C’mon. The staff at the front desk and valet were much friendlier than the night before. I don’t think I would discourage anyone to stay here it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Our family of 4 spent 6 nights in this hotel during the Christmas holidays. The hotel was very clean, large spacious rooms with fantastic customer service by the Front Desk-Diane and the bartender — Chris. It was a great value considering it was the holiday season. The location was also great — a couple of blocks from Metro station, next to a Starbucks and there’s a grocery store in the corner. Loved the rooftop terrace with firepit! Will definitely stay at this hotel the next time I’m in DC.

I stayed here during a conference. The hotel is super close to the convention center and has great amenities. I loved their sizable fitness room and roof top pool. Their roof top patio was also nice and gave you a great view of the city. I could see lots of cool buildings in the distance. In terms of my room, they had lost my reservation initially but were quickly able to place me. The room was great and had a nice sitting area. The bed was super comfortable and clean. I also liked their bathroom set-up which was roomy and didn’t make you feel like you were so cramped that you would break something. I would definitely stay here again next time I’m in DC.

A truly superb hotel experience. Because of our train schedule, we arrived well ahead of check-in time and all we really wanted to do was drop our bags and begin exploring the area. The manager, without hesitation, offered us an upgrade to a deluxe suite since our room wasn’t ready yet. Umm…Hell yeah! The room itself was incredibly spacious with sleek, contemporary décor. Definitely Chic Boutique if I had to characterize it.(Wait a second… I just did!) They had a rooftop balcony which provided a great vantage point to watch the fireworks later in the evening. We were even allowed to invite some friends up and BOOB(Bring Our Own Booze) it. That was fun. There were only a couple of small issues that were very nearly non-issues. The hotel bar, like all hotel bars, is way overpriced. We solved that problem by supplying our own liquor after the first night. I am all for a good hotel making money but paying $ 11-$ 12 bucks for a basic vodka cocktail is a bit OTTIMO. I understand that just the tip might be necessary on occasion but don’t ram the whole thing in all at once. Jeez… We did not try the in house breakfast since I am sure, like all hotel breakfasts, it would have been overpriced as well. The fix is way too easy with a Starbucks just around the corner or a million breakfast spots open within walking distance. Second, the flat screen TV in the sitting area of our room went all wanky the second day of our stay. As people or objects moved, they would leave traces across the screen. I had to run in and check the flat screen in our bedroom just to be sure I hadn’t accidentally ingested some acid somewhere. I was much reassured when the picture came up crystal clear just in time for the next World Cup match. As frosting on the proverbial cake, the day we checked out also involved a significant gap between our checkout time and our train departure. Once again, the staff pleasantly agreed to let us drop our bags as we set about the town for brunch and some more sightseeing to kill time. Cambria Suites is our go-to hotel option for all future stays in DC. This place was fuggedaboutit good.
